A sweet-milky fig, hardly green
I was very nosy on Figue Amere. I bought the scent blind and was curious about a green-bitter scent, as many have described here. Well: the fragrance doesn't seem green to me at all, at least for the time being, in winter (it may be that my perception of the fragrance changes in summer-it does happen to me with some fragrances)
The bottle is beautiful and typical for Miller Harris.
What is the fragrance like?
The scent is interesting: a sweet-milky, half ripe, ga-a-anz discreetly bitter fig in the beginning. This milkiness is almost creamy. After a while the fragrance becomes stronger, more aromatic. At the end of the process, a sweet and berry scent remains on the skin (I would not identify the scent as a ripe fig) - the base does not smell weak at all, but quite strong and clear.
Interestingly enough, the whole thing holds better on the skin than on the hair (with many scents it's the other way round), although it lasts at least half a day, but without projecting great.
The fragrance is unisex, interesting, smells natural and for fig lovers is the a must (especially the beginning and the middle phase)

Go Figuer
A gentle waft of light citrus and woody fig, then a salty green with a hint of dry amber. There are flowers in here but they are darker and toned down. A fresh scent for the office gentleman wearing a crisp linen suit in the summer or autumn. Pleasant but unassuming. No jaggy parts to either love or dislike about it. Mild and freshly woodsy. Fig bark maybe but not the full, ripe fruits. Subtle and nice enough.

A Good Choice for Those Suffering from Fig Fatigue
I find the opening of Miller Harris FIGUE AMERE to be rather figgy, but not overly so, as I sometimes find self-proclaimed fig perfumes to be. In fact, FIGUE AMERE may be the perfect choice for those who are suffering fig fatigue because it has enough greenishness and woodiness from forest-derived notes such as fir to make this seem much more like a woody aromatic fragrance than a fig frag.

I rather like FIGUE AMERE. It is complex and subtle in its figishness, which I have not found in too many fig perfumes to date. For those who wish to smell all and only fig all the time, this composition may seem too weak, but for those who have grown tired of the fig fad, this is a nice departure from the more literal offerings bearing the fig name tag.

Off with the Fig Leaf
Figs? Not at all. Comments mention fig branches and leaves, local perfumery Le Parfum stressed the, well, bitterness of this "fig note". With respect to her acclaimed "Fig" Mandy Aftel notes that she didn't find any fig essences and therefore made her own accord with a spectacurlar result - if you like her fir tar, which I do.

Conversely, in Figue Amère I smell a host of wonderful things - a head of incredibly fresh bitter splintering green woods and broken leaves that only stays a moment and opens to velvety-soft flowers, maybe a very slight hint of coconut that could be the result of a collective hallucination and a base that becomes even warmer and more powdery and mossy, keeping for many hours.

I like it a lot, but if you were looking for a ripe, fruity fig with no coconut and benzoin you had best make a trip to the nearest farmer's market.
