Golden Light
Today I need something sunny, I think as I step out of the lab building into the cold January wind. I feel a cold tingling sensation all over my face. Is that drizzle or industrial snow already? Either way, it's uncomfortable out there! I dream of neroli and orange blossoms.
Tonight we are going to visit the sports studio again, so the very sweet Kiehl's Orange Flower & Lychee will not be our companion. My favourite fitness fragrance from Roger & Gallet Bois d'Orange is too cool for me today. After a short consideration, I decide on the Lumière Dorée by Miller Harris, which has only been tested for a short time so far, bought between the years as a cheap trio. The three small, high-quality spray flacons, decorated with floral drawings and a shiny black lid, had attracted my attention despite the grabbed tk-maxx-typical plastic packaging and smelled without further considerations into my fragrance collection So I scented myself generously and am looking forward to the judgement of my training partner. "Oh, that's a high grade," she judges cryptically, and we both have to laugh. But I immediately know what she means by this: the fragrance starts off citrus-fresh and slightly metallic, almost eau-de-cologne-like with a whole load of petitgrain, the essential oil of the bitter orange tree and bergamot, a small, wrinkly citrus fruit that gives Earl Grey tea its typical taste. Shortly thereafter the white-flowered Neroli, the flower oil of the Pomeranze, enters the stage and shines in all its facets from bitter to slightly chewing gum-like sweet and drives away any winter mood.
Neroli and I share a love-hate affair: as much as I like the fresh, unsweet creations, I find it air-cutting and overwhelming in a sweet combination. The ridge in between is a narrower one. Here, however, it appears balanced, sweet, sunny and creamy. A Neroli to get used to, I find cheering. From the base I don't notice much except a discreet musk background of the citrus fruit party, because the Neroli remains very present over the rest of the fragrance. I'm astonished by the moderate sillage and even with sweaty exercises I'm only occasionally blown around by a subtle touch. Maybe it's not 100% the perfect sports fragrance, as it quickly changes from fresh to sweet, but I still feel well scented. My cloudy thoughts were transformed into sunny ones and I was able to let this wet and cold day end with some happiness.
Even though I wanted to take one of my other perfume treasures out the next day, I was happy when my sun-yellow loop scarf sprayed a delicate touch of Lumière Dorée and I'm sure we'll smell each other again a few times this winter

Lumière Dorèe Miller Harris
Lumière Dorée Miller Harris

After first encountering the home of Miller Harris and the beautiful La Feuille, the logical progression was to explore this home further.

This perfume lived up to all my expectations, it is almost exactly as I imagined.

Opening, citrus green, bitter orange, petit grain and bergamot.
The bitter orange leaf is so balanced with citrus that I can't say either of these predominate, the opening phase, doesn't last long. The top notes, however, are present almost to the end.

What I particularly like about Lumière Dorée is the way the notes develop, the order. For example, neroli from the heart notes joins the top notes long before the jasmine, and so this first phase, slightly altered, lasts much longer.
The note that excited me the most here, the bitter orange leaf, is neroli.
Essential flower oil extracted from the white flowers of the bitter orange tree. It is sometimes called orange blossom oil.
The oil is named after Princess Neroli, who popularized it in Italy during the 17th century plague pandemic. There was a belief that flowers and perfumes with a sweet scent protected against contagious fumes ...

Jasmine is not loud here, it is very difficult to identify it as a distinct note.
Base notes, white musk, amber, cashmere and vetiver, behave very moderately, no noticeable steps.
The final stage, delicate, soft, intimate, almost fluffy.
Although I did not characterize it as seductive, at this point it is indescribably "infectious".

Ideal for business meetings, I don't think anyone would mind.
I also see it as ideal for travel,
On trips any daily variety.
Or if you are just resting,
In fact, I can't think of any situation where this perfume would be inappropriate.
I can't categorically place it at any time of year, I think it could always be worn.
Elegant, sophisticated, clean and soothing.
So test test test ....

A dream is a question you cannot answer!
You are dreaming.

Everything is white. You are walking into a long corridor of orange trees from one side and green jasmine from the other side. There is a bitter and light bergamot mist with each couple of meters. It feels like you're walking on clouds. There is a wooden bowl in the middle of the corridor filled with orange blossom water, you wash your face in it and you are continuing forward. Your skin feels like velvet. You are completely weightless. Everything is peaceful, everything is bright. Ambery and woody facets are marking the end of the road, while jasmine and neroli still dance in harmony in the background behind you. You smile. Everything is calm.

You are awake!

Like Sicilian Granita for Breakfast
A fresh burst of what smelled like neroli to me, though probably the bitter orange backed by some petit grain. The opening is fresh, like pulling on a white linen shirt in Sicily and enjoying a refreshing mandarin granita for breakfast. Not long after a delicate orange blossom blooms, increasing in volume as the opening's freshness fades, this is accompanied by a very natural, very faintly indolic jasmine sambac and the duet of white flowers will sing off your skin for hours. This heart never gets heavy or overbearing and is perfectly balanced with the spirit of the opening. Towards the end of the life of this beauty, a light musk, not white, nor animalic, simply "fuzzy" starts to emerge and increases the longevity of this fragrance considerably. The transitions of this fragrance are remarkable, the attention to the blend also deserves some praise. Overall a wonderful offering from this house, which focuses on putting out some authentic creations.

Neroli bomb
A review from a man who doesn't wear many floral fragrances:

Fragrance DNA:
For me more spicy/floral and less citrusy/fresh. Unfortunately, the fragrance also smells very synthetic... Not quite my taste. Too much musk and too little amber for my taste. 5/10 for spring/summer.

Now in spring, it already lasts half the day. A little less citrusy towards the end. But I can't resist comparing it to a bathroom cleanser. It's the combination, the synthetics that you keep in the room for a long time after cleaning.

Unfortunately, the bottle is also too generic for me - you can find lots of them at DM.
The price is actually in the good range... but it doesn't really stand out. 50€ less would make it a bestseller. Right now you should wait for an offer.

On my skin smells like 4711 (original). Haven't tried 4711 recently; it used to be excellent.
