A dream is a question you cannot answer!
You are dreaming.

Everything is white. You are walking into a long corridor of orange trees from one side and green jasmine from the other side. There is a bitter and light bergamot mist with each couple of meters. It feels like you're walking on clouds. There is a wooden bowl in the middle of the corridor filled with orange blossom water, you wash your face in it and you are continuing forward. Your skin feels like velvet. You are completely weightless. Everything is peaceful, everything is bright. Ambery and woody facets are marking the end of the road, while jasmine and neroli still dance in harmony in the background behind you. You smile. Everything is calm.

You are awake!

Like Sicilian Granita for Breakfast
A fresh burst of what smelled like neroli to me, though probably the bitter orange backed by some petit grain. The opening is fresh, like pulling on a white linen shirt in Sicily and enjoying a refreshing mandarin granita for breakfast. Not long after a delicate orange blossom blooms, increasing in volume as the opening's freshness fades, this is accompanied by a very natural, very faintly indolic jasmine sambac and the duet of white flowers will sing off your skin for hours. This heart never gets heavy or overbearing and is perfectly balanced with the spirit of the opening. Towards the end of the life of this beauty, a light musk, not white, nor animalic, simply "fuzzy" starts to emerge and increases the longevity of this fragrance considerably. The transitions of this fragrance are remarkable, the attention to the blend also deserves some praise. Overall a wonderful offering from this house, which focuses on putting out some authentic creations.

Golden Light
Today I need something sunny, I think as I step out of the lab building into the cold January wind. I feel an icy tingle on my face. Is that drizzle or already industrial snow? Either way, it’s uncomfortable out there! I dream of neroli and orange blossoms.
This evening, I have another visit to the gym planned, so the very sweet Kiehl's Orange Flower & Lychee is out of the question as a companion. My favorite fitness scent, Roger & Gallet Bois d'Orange, feels too cool for me today. After a brief consideration, I decide on the previously only briefly tested Lumière Dorée by Miller Harris, which I picked up as an affordable trio during the holidays. The three small, high-quality spray bottles, adorned with floral designs and shiny black caps, immediately caught my attention despite the typical tk-maxx plastic packaging and effortlessly joined my fragrance collection.
I generously scent myself and am curious about my training partner's judgment. "Oh, that’s quite a high note," she remarks cryptically, and we both have to laugh. But I know right away what she means: The scent starts citrusy-fresh and slightly metallic, almost eau-de-cologne-like, with a whole load of petitgrain, the essential oil of the bitter orange tree, and bergamot, a small, wrinkled citrus fruit that gives Earl Grey tea its characteristic flavor. Shortly after, the white-flowered neroli, the flower oil of the pomeranze, takes the stage and shines in all its facets from bitter to slightly gum-like sweet, driving away any winter mood.
Neroli and I have a love-hate relationship: As much as I enjoy the fresh, unsweetened creations, I find it suffocating and overwhelming in sweet combinations. The balance between the two is a narrow one. Here, however, it appears pleasantly balanced, sunny, and has a creamy finish. A neroli to get used to, I jubilantly note. From the remaining components, I only perceive a subtle musky undertone and a hint of jasmine; the citrus party remains present throughout the entire scent journey. I am surprised by the moderate sillage, and even during sweat-inducing exercises, I am only occasionally surrounded by a subtle whiff. Perhaps it’s not 100% the perfect sport scent, as it quickly transitions from fresh to sweet, yet I feel well-scented. My gloomy thoughts have been transformed into sunny ones, and I was able to end this damp, cold day on a relatively cheerful note.
Even though I wanted to wear one of my other perfume treasures the next day, I was pleased when my sunny yellow loop scarf still exuded a delicate hint of Lumière Dorée, and I am sure that we will be reuniting a few times this winter.

Lumière Dorèe Miller Harris
Lumière Dorée Miller Harris

After my first encounter with the house of Miller Harris and the beautiful La Feuille, it was a logical progression to explore this house further.

This perfume has met all my expectations; it is almost exactly as I imagined it.

Opening with citrus green, bitter orange, petit grain, and bergamot.
The bitter orange leaf is so balanced with the citrus fruits that I cannot say that one of these two predominates; the initial phase does not last long. However, the top notes are almost present until the end.

What I particularly like about Lumière Dorée is the way the notes develop, the order. Neroli from the heart notes connects long before the jasmine with the top notes, and therefore this first phase, slightly altered, lasts much longer.
The note that excited me the most here, the bitter orange leaf, is neroli.
Essential flower oil derived from the white flowers of the bitter orange tree. It is sometimes also called orange blossom oil.
The oil is named after Princess Neroli, who popularized it during the 17th-century plague pandemic in Italy. There was a belief that flowers and perfumes with a sweet scent protected against infectious miasmas ...

Jasmine is not loud here; it is very difficult to recognize it as an independent note.
Base notes of white musk, amber, cashmere, and vetiver behave very moderately, with no noticeable steps.
The final stage is delicate, soft, intimate, almost fluffy.
Although I haven't characterized it as seductive, at this point, it is indescribably "contagious."

Ideal for business meetings; I don't think it would disturb anyone.
I also see it as ideal for travel,
On excursions, any daily variant.
Or when you just want to relax,
In fact, I can't imagine a situation where this perfume would be inappropriate.
I cannot categorically place it in any season; I think it could be worn at any time.
Elegant, refined, clean, and soothing.
So test test ....

Spicy Neroli Scent
A few days ago, I wrote a comment about "Mémoires de Mustique" and referred to it as a neroli bomb, of which I already have two in my collection. This is one of those two fragrances, and anyone who takes the time to compare the scent pyramids will find that they are remarkably similar. Likewise, the scents themselves are very similar, although not identical; however, anyone who does not exclusively specialize in neroli in their collection will not necessarily need both at the same time.
The Harris also starts off very neroli-heavy, but it also lets other notes shine through without really losing dominance. Petitgrain, jasmine, and an unmistakably spicy note are noticeable, making the scent a definite unisex fragrance for me. The Mémoires was also unisex, but a bit sweeter, as it lacked the spice.
There is also hardly any scent progression here, which I do not wish to criticize, as I am not fixated on that. Longevity and sillage are good, but not outstanding.
In summer, it is a great freshness kick and not overwhelming or intrusive, just pleasantly enjoyable.

On my skin smells like 4711 (original). Haven't tried 4711 recently; it used to be excellent.

A soft, sunny citrus, not too in your face or screechy.

Smells wonderful and lasts for an hour. I loved the smell but the poor performance is a deal breaker, especially for the price.

Bergamot, neroli, and jasmine hit you hard. Not much before, not much after, but quite charming in its classic elegance.

Very soft neroli/jasmine scent with a green clean musk base. Gently fresh floral-orange, slightly soapy, slightly musty-green (petitgrain).

At first, I'm very taken with it, but then a sharp metallic note comes through. A knife in the bouquet, stabbing me in the nose from behind!

Herb + fresh neroli scent that doesn't remind you of 4711. Plus delicate jasmine. In the dry down, slightly soapy clean musk. Summer with retro charm.

One of the most beautiful neroli scents I know. Sensual, not sweet, citrusy-zesty, narcotic. Good performance: lasts all day.

Excellently crafted, archetypal citrus-neroli opening, more sharply silver-contoured than rich golden. Then, the vetiver pushes in annoyingly.
