AL ANDALUS
Al Andalus from Italian House of Haute Luxury Niche Perfumery Moresque is part of the 'Black Collection', it is an Oriental, Spicy, Woody, Amber, Smoky perfume. It was released in 2015; the perfumer who signs this fragrance is Andrea Casotti. The perfume unfolds in energizing and joyful notes, which awaken us like the first rays of the sun. And all this surrounded by an enveloping ambery accord that accompanies the fragrance at all times.

Al Andalus (Andalusia) is an alluring fragrance, reminiscent of the nature, vibrancy and scorching sun of the Andalusia region of Spain. It is a tribute to the most distant and western emirate (province) of the 'Great Islamic Arab Empire' that at its peak for more than 7 centuries dominated and stretched from western China through North Africa extending to the Iberian Peninsula (Portugal, Spain).

The perfume starts spicy spicy leathery earthy with the fiery ginger combined with pepper and leathery turmeric. Centered on the famous and renowned 'Oud Kalimantan, with a bittersweet, woody, medicinal facet, and recognized among 'oud connoisseurs as one of the best 'oud in the world, which, along with vetiver, brings a woody footprint to the fragrance.
The tolú, labdanum with birch very noticeable, leave the resinous, balsamic, smoky perfume, which refers to a leathery accord, incense, warm and dry.

Al Andalus behaves this way practically from start to finish, making it a somewhat linear perfume, but despite this, it in no way takes away from its extreme elegance, based on a very fine combination of Amber and Leather with 'Oud and Incense. Fragrance with a very arabesque character.
It refers to the Souks of the East with aromas of spices, incense, fabrics, hookahs and tannery hovering in the air.
Alpha Male Perfume!
Excellent quality, with very good performance!

AN INTIMATE ROYAL RHYTHM OUTSIDE THE MIND AND TIME
[ 1 ] - AN INTIMATE ROYAL RHYTHM OUTSIDE THE MIND AND TIME :

What a great successful beginning to discover MORESQUE house with this masterpiece, the nobility, gravity and royalty are the first thing come to my mind

The name itself (AL ANDALUS) is quite expressive, which refers to the most advanced civilized era for human beings at that time, as MORESQUE were good at describing, they were good at creating, as if the imagination of the present embraces the reality of the past.

I highly appreciate this type of genius perfumers and the creativity that turn scents like a time machine and makes you feel you are there, as if your entity, mind, feelings and sensations are being in another time and place.

[ 2 ] – THE SCENT OF (AL ANDALUS) TYPE AND VIBE :

The scent transitions are well rounded, and the best part appears, when the undertone start to play a slight role in the dray down, between the balsamic woody birch notes to give a hint of woody sweetness

Well blended, long lasting, intimate projection and the rhythm of mellow notes are enough to create an elegant sillage

It can be wearable by unisex, but at same time, I believe the versatility is more for men than for women, it’s not generic mass appealing, yet apparent ease to wear, it’s charming and joyful, yet not loud and playful.

Personally, I can sense the velvety of ( AL ANDALUS ), is closer to ( DIOR HOMME PARFUM BY DIOR ) vibe, but without any similarity between the two scents or any perfumes that I have experienced.

Finally, I hope these lines are helpful enough, to give a true impression of ( AL ANDALUS ) which I consider as underrated masterpiece.

Manet's 'Gazes'
Just about a kilometer from the Louvre, on the southern bank of the Seine, lies the Musée d'Orsay. Although it can also be considered monumental, it is simply more manageable compared to its gigantic brother, not least because it is limited to - essentially - art from the second half of the previous century. During our first stay in Paris in the summer of 2015, this seemed more suitable. When you only have four days and are traveling with two children aged eight and ten, you have to make compromises. By the way, we made up for the Louvre this summer!

The abundance in a Musée d'Orsay can certainly overwhelm, especially since I personally have considerable catching up to do in the field of visual arts for reasons I can't quite explain (namely: despite being raised in an educated household). Dozens of Manets piled together can easily be too much.

Chance helped. Almost a year after our Paris visit, various works by Manet appeared one day at the Hamburger Kunsthalle. Moreover, it was accompanied by a lovingly acted family tour that brought the overarching theme of the special exhibition closer, namely Manet's 'Gazes'. Some of his paintings (Olympia) look at the viewer in a compromising way, a scandal 150 years ago. Or (Le Balcon) they probably reveal uncomfortable truths about the relationships of those depicted.

Having traveled from the Seine to the Elbe was also the "Lola de Valence." Armed with new insights, this time my gaze was directed at the 'Gaze'. A dancer. Spanish, so not completely disguised, yet unmistakably posing. And then there is the 'Gaze'. Coolly professional and distant. Almost mocking. Disdainful; a bit bored? There stands not a Spanish woman taken from vibrant life, but primarily an actress playing a role.

And that brings me to the actual topic. When a fragrance is called Al-Andalus and refers to the Moors, I would have expected warmth, fire, yes, "life." And that simply may not fit.

Dusty wood opens, a hint of lacquer floats in it, even offering a hint of Black Afgano. Next to it, a fine, characteristically sharp fruit, quite pointed. The spice is also not too loud, but used with precision. And yet the fragrance overall feels strangely cool, with a periodically quite noticeable hint of plastic adding to the effect. I sense little of oud - to put it cautiously. It remains dusty-bright wood, which in style is rather subtly shaped. Distant.

The ingredients mentioned for the base can all be guessed (plus certainly a good portion of vanilla), but they are all half-hidden by the aforementioned bright wood note with its relentless lacquer layer. Like behind a veil, distorted, equalized, unreal. Sketches of themselves. Balsamic-creamy - and nothing embraces me.

I am completely at a loss. To clarify, nothing here smells bad. Moreover, I perceive a pronounced similarity to Mythical Woods by Profumi del Forte over long stretches - and I have at least acquired that one. Still, I cannot warm up to Al-Andalus. And it does not warm up to me.

Conclusion: You could have come closer for cuddling (or tickling)! Not just because I am already a Mythical Woods owner, Al-Andalus is not an option for me.

Although the bottle would certainly look stylish. In the original, however, it is smaller than it appears in the Parfumo picture. Just 50ml. And for that, 250 euros, oh dear….

Fine, dry-etheric spices with a light, bright resinous touch. Very present. Fills the room. Too much for me. Price completely exaggerated.
