Good things come to those who wait
Olfactive Studio is one of these brands, which never attracts negative attention, but rarely stands out. Nevertheless I appreciate this brand because the fragrances are always solid to good and you can recognize the quality. A perfume could win me over, however, then nevertheless. At the beginning I was more interested in room fragrances and rated good but without the decisive impulse.
In retrospect, the numerous, loud tests at that time certainly had something to do with it, as this delicate cedar scent was simply lost. Two day tests later in meanwhile calmer times concerning the extensive testing (out of the corona and working depression) and I was convinced. For me, Autoportrait has an aura similar to Royal Oud, only a little more relaxed. I like to wear Royal Oud with a suit (ok, I do the same with Beaufort, but it's more for illustration), which is also possible with autoportrait. For the simple polo with chinos and chucks at work, when no customer appointment is pending, I would probably rather go for an autoportrait, because it looks more versatile and doesn't have that extremely sublime flair like Royal Oud for example.
Beside my well-known leather soft spot, I am also often attracted by cedar. It has a refreshing effect in an upscale way. Royal Oud was probably my first niche fragrance here, which showed me this scent direction. Nothing happened for a long time until I got enthusiastic about Cedro di Taormina and now about Autoportrait.
But what does an autoportrait actually smell like? And what does the self-portrait say about you when you do something nice? Actually, cedar is dominant for me. But you don't realize this directly, because the fresh bergamot and the spicy elemi resin put a kind of veil over the cedar and you enjoy this combination and praise the subtlety of what holds elemi resin and bergamot together without thinking about it.
And so it goes on, because a delicate incense, which is not aimed at incense or church attendance, plays around the cedar. Suddenly it becomes warmer and slightly sweet; the benzoin comes out. Here the fragrance threatens to release you from its spell, because this phase is sometimes inconstant and tilts too much towards benzoin for seconds. But at the end the calculation is right, everything is fine
Only now we come to pure cedar with almost silent entourage and since cedar is a relaxing scent for me, I have always considered autoportrait as a kind of feel-good scent in the sense of a room scent, due to the previous phases. Autoportrait is not loud or flashy but has style, is cleverly designed and takes time. To a certain extent it decelerates and I like that, but of course it also makes access to the perfume more difficult.
I find such fragrances a successful change because it doesn't always have to be a raiding party from the house of Beaufort. Sometimes it can be a little slow. And isn't this a kind of self-portrait? The realization that versatility is good for you? That one should not limit oneself to certain scents ergo not act narrow-minded?
Which you can probably relate to everything in a more general and abstract way and I would like to affirm this by my final liking for the fragrance creation discussed.
