Leather is not for everyone
The new "Shot" collection from Olfactive Studio seems to be received rather lukewarmly (at least here on Parfumo). And this is despite the brand's very good reputation, despite Duchaufour at the controls, and despite already planned further offshoots (Rose Shot, etc.). However, I must make a small case for this "Leather Shot," as I find it extraordinarily good, the best of the "shot" trio released so far.
It is a spicy leather scent, slightly oriental due to the cumin and cardamom - but above all, its fruity-bright, slightly bitter beginning sets it apart from other perfumes of its kind, and in the uniquely dissonant harmonies (yes, I know, it's an oxymoron), I can discern typical Duchaufour DNA, splendid and slightly epic. It has not been so playful and bold for a long time. "Leather Shot" is a creamy leather saddle, slightly animalistic and sweaty, but also with its gentle touches. Iris and unmistakable chai tea allow the scent to waft almost powdery over long stretches. Light and shadow are olfactorily and characteristically intertwined here - but certainly not in terms of quality and creativity, as the bright and positive clearly prevails for me!
Bottle: no matter what the guys and gals at Olfactive Studio come up with for their bottles and presentation - it's great!
Sillage: pleasantly subtle and restrained without being timid.
Longevity: completely sufficient 6-8 hours.
Conclusion: a rugged leather cowboy with many soft sides and wonderful, fruity-spicy facets. Sounds confusing, but for me, it creates a fine, homogeneous overall impression and a leather delicacy that could almost only come from Duchaufour. Very easy to wear despite its later darkness.
