A Tart Berry Basket
After recently writing a comment about a roll-on perfume from the UAE regarding its excellent quality, I would like to draw attention today to an affordable perfume oil from Arab lands, namely Attar al Makkah by Oudh am Anfar. I claim it is, on one hand, typically Arabic as it is very opulent. On the other hand, it comes without oud or anything else, but is rather floral and fruity. Please don’t click away just yet! Anyone thinking this is just a sweet licorice-like monotony is mistaken. I would hardly purchase that.
When the fragrance pyramid speaks of berries, it seems to me primarily to refer to blackberries and possibly red currants. The scent opens not with a fruity sweetness but rather with that fruity acidity, as one knows from those two types of berries. At the same time, those fruits appear very floral, without drifting too much into the floral territory. Perhaps the mint helps here as well. I perceive it neither cooling nor particularly olfactorily, but the berries seem to me muted like the tobacco of a water pipe when mixed with mint. Like with menthol, the tobacco tastes more pleasant, or rather the scent possesses exactly that noticeable facet.
The woodier or forest-like element is not neglected either, although it mainly serves to capture and tame the sweetness of the berries that becomes stronger over time. One could say that the fruitiness and the mint fade away. Generally, a familiar pattern: overripe or, in general, ripening fruits eventually correspond to that image.

Overall, the perfume oil is typically Arabic for me. It is very intense, rich, and densely woven, and heavily characterized by musk. This makes it feel filled to the brim with fragrance materials, pouring out its cornucopia symbolically; Attar al Makkah is captivating. But yes, you won’t find rose and oud, and that is indeed a nice change.
Undoubtedly a pleasant change when a linear and, despite its fullness, simpler scent is allowed.

Strawberryfields forever
This afternoon, the thermometer shows 35 degrees in the shade, my sister calls and asks: I still have vouchers for the strawberry field, do you want to come?
Of course I do. So out of the cool house and onto the bike. I grab a bucket and make a quick stop at the cemetery to water the plants. I always enjoy being there, the tranquility and yes, there are still real planted graves, it's pleasant. My bare legs in flip-flops appreciate a cool shower from the watering can.
Onward to the strawberry field, a little dirt path, just follow the scent. Are there still people who go to strawberry fields? In times of discount stores and delivery apps and who knows what else.
So, finally something about the scent.
I can already hear the outcry, you can't do that in summer!!!
You can. I’m a summer person, I always make the best of everything.
The man at the ticket booth says: today, it's only for the tough ones. As we know, only the tough ones go into the garden.
This attar, it’s an oil, has a fruity, woody, strong presence, patchouli, which I love so much. It reminds me of an Indian shop from my youth. It has nothing synthetic for me; in summer, I much prefer simple, naturally appealing scents. This one definitely belongs to that category. I can't quite place the mint.

Applying it with the roller allows for a fine dosage. Its longevity is enormous.
Today, Attar al Makkah accompanies me while eating and picking strawberries in the finest way. The warm berries melt in my mouth. The hot wind tells of summer and also of transience, of dazzling days in the shimmering sunlight. I bike home and feel grateful to be alive.

“Do you still hear the symphony of life?”

It is summer.

Dense yet Bright
Attar Al Makkah begins fresh and sweet - fruity, but also somewhat green.

I would like to express my sincere thanks to our Parfumo "Zirkeltanz" for the bottle.

First, one can perceive the clear note of musk, which brings a strong pure aura and reminds me a lot of freshly washed laundry.

The freshly washed laundry has been treated with a fabric softener that smells of blackberry and currants, which appears not sweet - sticky, but refreshingly sweet.

These two notes are enveloped by a beautiful minty note that gives the top note an interesting green accent.

This constellation is perceivable on my skin for 20 minutes before the heart note unfolds.

The freshly washed laundry has receded somewhat into the background, dimmed but still very much perceivable.

The heart note becomes very dense, voluminous, pleasantly tangible, but also bright woody, and I suspect tobacco in conjunction with birch.

Jasmine integrates wonderfully into the composition with a very fine floral note, adding a delicate brightness to the fragrance.

The heart note is perceivable on my skin for 3.5 hours before the base asserts itself.

Now a beautiful warming spicy, soothing creamy note is perceivable, which comes from the amber in combination with sandalwood.

These two notes are enveloped by a very subtle mossy nuance, which bestows a very soft quality to the base and is thanks to the moss.

In the background, there is a very delicate earthy hint that beautifully rounds off the fragrance and comes from patchouli.

Attar Al Makkah is a great companion in the spring, autumn, and winter months for women and men over 30 who are looking for a dense woody scent that possesses a lovely brightness.

Overall, the fragrance lasts 7 hours on my skin.

The sillage is designed in the first hour to be very clearly perceived at about 2.5 meters and then settles for 2 hours at a full arm's length before it gradually diminishes until the fragrance fades.

A really beautiful mix of wood and berries! I don't notice the mint, the depth of the fruits is very intoxicating in this combination!

Wonderful and flattering, creamy, a shop from my youth in India. Wood, patchouli, resin, now in November a longing for travel.

Typical oriental. Longevity and
sillage are great.

Berries, leather, and a lot of musk (which I don't really like) wash out this (supposed) attar. Plus, a lousy H & S.

Absolute dream scent! The berries blend beautifully with the woody notes. A bit smoky in the middle. I miss some oud. H&S top!

Fresh laundry washed with berry-mint fabric softener transitions to a dense, woody, light-floral finish with a spicy-creamy-earthy undertone.

sharp and piercing in the nose, not exactly pleasant. Alcoholic and very mossy-woody - but not fresh, rather old wood.
