A Tannery
I am trying to like this scent, but I can't. It reminds me of a leather tannery where the leather sits in vats and is treated.

The top notes assault the nose with a potent leathery smell and although over time the scent gets softer, it just cannot win me over. It is quite an experience.

The scent is reminiscent more of a time and a place than something that one would want to spray on.

Too bad ... because that is the second scent of Paul Kiler's samples and the first one, "Ere", is quite nice.

Surrealistic Red Leather
I think that when Paul says that this is a Leather like no other, he is not joking. I was thinking that this might be so far his most challenging creation for me. It made me feel strange at first, trying to fit what was familiar and odd here, until it ocurred to me that this is a kind of surrealistic leather, something that i never saw before. I get a series of contradictions, of a fragrance that has a butchery, carnal and animalic leather at the same time it smells like birch-like polished boots. The red here causes me a strange impression at first. It hits you strong at the opening and it's such a mixture of colorful materials that produces me illusions, like objects that shouldn't be there but seems to be anyway: i get the pepper, grapefruit, but at the same time i get an intense passionfruit aroma, which seems to turn into rhubarb very fast. Once i get used with the strangeness of this fruity things in a double leather impression, i see the last demanding sides of it: the powdery, hot carnation aroma, the very discreet use of roses, the boozy bay rum touch, the cedary incense working at background. The complete the scene, work as pieces that seems to produce the normal part of this surrealistic ambience. I don't know if, after understanding it, i'm scared or fascinated. Maybe both? Certainly i would like to smell it more times to understand the strangeness it causes me at first.

A bit underrated
After 30 seconds of rhubarb it opens with a strong, green, camphorous buchu. The green aspect might remind of that coming from bay leaf. A herbal accent of davana is prominent as well. Leather is perceived from the start, but i feel like it was an impression made by other notes. What's interesting - it gets much more complex when you smell it close to skin. Some technical, car sevice nuances emerge then. Also rhubarb and some grapefruit. There's not so much of those in the air.

Old herbs, old toolbags, old drawers filled with grandpa's artifacts. All that with a dose of camphor. What i didn't mention yet - it is woody. But don't expect gentle cedarwood. Here, again, it's old, dusty wood soaked with technical oils. Expect railroad wood.

Animalic? Yes. I don't get civet, but a fair dose of castoreum is present. Leathery and bit smoky, sweet at times. The middle phase makes it more visible as the insipidness of buchu and davana tone down a bit.

At this point i can understand people not wanting to wear this, yet i can't understand how low they rated this one.

Leaving alone that boring, nauseating and muddy leather smell during the first hour (reminding of Taif T07 or Jazeel Amsterdam), this os a very decent perfume. An outstanding and very complex composition.

edit: the drydown is somewhat similar to the opening of The Palace by Jazeel. There goes bay leaf with a hint of civet.

PK Perfumes / Red Leather
Perfume considered by its creator Paul Kiler to be his best work. There is definitely something to it. Perfumes, especially the beginning, are not easy and demanding.
We have a strong hit of sweet and sour rhubarb mixed with a spicy scent of leather, spicy pepper (apparently pink ... unfortunately I don't know myself) and animal notes. The impressions are and can be bizarre ... that's the smell of an animal excited by a pepper pressed in the eyes with other spices, and at the same time sweetened with the sweetness and sourness of juicy rhubarb. Others may smell a strange chemical smell .... it's not different.
This beginning is really strong. After a while the notes settle down, the skin is not so sharp anymore…. begins to smooth and turn into nice suede. The slightly animalistic notes are still noticeable (castoreum, civet), but now a good rum comes into play. From then on, the perfume becomes more suede-rum (bay rum) with a noticeable scent of wood, in which this stimulant is probably stored. In addition to these notes that I feel, I can sense clove, musk and other spices. The perfume, as the name suggests, is red (I understand that the color of the skin, pink pepper, rum, rhubarb and teak is the result of this). Perfume, in my opinion, more for men, good projection, and durability up to 8 hours.
Interesting experience… and worth knowing

Ingredients:
Buchu leaves (scent similar to blackcurrant), rhubarb, pink pepper, pink grapefruit
Dianthine base, pink carnation, red rose, Ylang, Neroli, Davana

Suede, Castoreum, Civet and Leather

Rhubarb-Leather in Fast Forward
Prologue:
Wolle and the gang wanted to go to the beverage store. Herner Feinbräu Premium was on sale, only 2.99 euros for the crate. The guys emptied the handcart and everything else they could attach to their motorcycles, and then it needed to be refilled. As soon as they arrived: yawning emptiness.
“Pitter, where's the beer? Not in stock yet?”
“Sure, but everything is sold out. Your rival gang got to it, the one with the red collars, uh, the red robes!”
“What??? Again? Guys, we need to find them and challenge them to a beer competition!”

The Red Leather Gang consisted of applicants rejected by Wolle. Rejected because back then they either showered too often or could constantly go home. That was not acceptable, it was downright frowned upon. In any case, this gang had created a fragrance, an exciting leather scent. It smelled like synthetic leather on a sour rhubarb base. Initially very exuberant and rounded off with a splash of grapefruit to evoke a certain bitterness. Added to that was a spice note that rounded things out but didn’t add any defining notes. Wolle was glad it didn’t smell like shower gel, as he was allergic to that. He tended to bathe less than Bud Spencer in Western films. Usually, he considered rain as a bath.

The first discipline was a singles match between Udo and an opponent. One had to drink while slaloming until someone fell over. Udo was indeed a heavy drinker, but unfortunately, he got stuck with his voluminous backside on a pole and fell flat. Although he reacted quickly enough to finish his beer while falling, open a new one, and finish that too, the first match was lost.
Wolle had to fix it now. A tournament battle followed with motorcycles and broomsticks instead of horses and lances. Wolle won this fight because the opponent braked just before impact, but Wolle did not. For once, it wasn't because he was drunk but because Hotte had previously tampered with the brakes. Accidentally Wolle's and not the opponent's. In any case, this achieved a tie, and the doubles would have to decide the outcome.

Half an hour had passed, and the rhubarb no longer stood out strongly. Even though still perceptible, a bit of rum took the lead paired with tobacco, which faintly smoldered, but nothing more. It smelled as if the tobacco had been lit and quickly extinguished. Added to that were woody notes, rather pleasant, not profound. What really stood out now was the Bay Rum. Gradually, the scene was covered by a spicy-sweet whiff of clove, the leather smelled quite special and unique.

The competition was heating up, the doubles were set to become a proper brawl or gossip session. They decided on the game Pie Face. Unfortunately, they weren't smart enough to understand how the game worked, and since Wolle's men had completely dominated the Red Leather Gang in terms of alcohol consumption, Wolle's eleven were declared the winners. This resulted in the Red Leather Gang having to leave the city. Without the red robes and the perfume. Only in soiled underwear. That had already stemmed from pre-competition times.

As quickly as the spectacle ended, so quickly does the creation fade away. After a short time, we have a harmless leather scent, which, although still nuanced, ultimately fades over a long period. Personally, I find this regrettable because at the end of the day, it does not speak in favor of a purchase. As a comparison, when worn in parallel: such soft and moderate scents like Royal Oud seem to burst with strength in relation.

Animalic, spicy and leathery. Strong opening until it becomes a dry leather

This is hard to gauge because i'm not into oriental fragrances. But to me, heavy star anise, smoke and clove. Really hard to like personally

A blend of faux leather, leather spray, and sour rhubarb. Rum and wood join in, later accompanied by a hint of tobacco smoke.

First sharp-bright celery, over time deeper, warmer, but the now dark-roasted celery still comes through.

Successful, interesting leather scent - it's herbal, sour, without floral notes, not powdery, not creamy, not sweet, without tobacco and dried fruit.
