Visiting the Mango Harvest
Somewhere in the middle of nowhere in the vast desert, lies the oasis Annone,
Mango trees, citrus groves as far as the eye can see, enveloped by desert air.
The harvest of ripe mangoes is in full swing,
But through the crowd, a whisper spreads, rumors begin to circulate.
With rich gifts from the not-so-distant sultanate,
The princess is visiting, the royal caravan approaches.
On elephants and camels, the caravan makes its way through the oasis,
Baskets filled with the finest treasures, whose value can only be guessed.
From some, rose petals glimmer, from others pale irises, dusty, dry, pure,
Backpacks full of red gold, fine threads, spicy-sweet, they must truly be precious!
A cloth in the color of ivory stretches over the large, royal tent,
Lavishly and comfortably furnished, it stands surrounded by a field of roses.
To forget the hardships, the princess relaxes deeply in a bath of milk,
Anointed with nourishing essences, her skin as soft and delicate as velvet.
In gold-plated bowls, fine, gentle oud wafts in light tendrils.
The tent filled with a hint of mystique, offerings of incense from the nomads.
On musk cushions and with a view of the sweet floral sea in the shade of tall palms,
Delicate wisps drift over as the oud chips continue to smolder.
Petals, nut grass tufts sway back and forth in the warm wind,
Her gaze wanders over beautiful landscapes that are truly a feast for the eyes.
Fin.

Annone - it took me more than a year to form a concrete opinion about the scent. And now? Now it has landed at the top of my wish list - sometimes it just takes a little more time to find a treasure. Annone from the house of Pantheon Roma, which draws inspiration for its fragrances from the love stories of the Italian Renaissance, feels to me like a love story to the Orient itself. Fresh, sweet-sour mangoes, zesty bergamot, and wonderfully spicy, crimson saffron threads present themselves in a phenomenal opening. The fruity and slightly sweet-spicy notes are then underscored by fresh, light rose and a soft, powdery iris, with the heart note indeed focusing more on the iris. Even here, one can easily detect animalistic, dark-woody oud nuances, which give the fragrance a beautiful contrast and an interesting depth. As it progresses, the oud note crystallizes further, becoming woodier, slightly cheesy, and breathing even more character into the fragrance. Yet it never fully steps into the foreground, serving more as a harmonious link between all the other notes. Over time, it becomes softer with a well-measured dose of vanilla and a hint of musk, while now and then a bit of nagarmotha flashes through, keeping the scent from becoming boring in its final hours. All in all, Annone is a fantastic release that has truly brought me great joy during testing.
