For bold women only, this is really oudy and with slight vanilla note. Frankincense can be felt too, it is a loud fragrance, unisex more.

Similar cloying vibes which I get from Initio's Psychedelic Love, creamy texture, great notes but impossible for me to wear. Terrible Oud.

Trying to figure out if my decant of this is correct, as all I get is this sweet powder, no cardamom spice or depth on me at all.

Fun with Yasmine
That jasmine! She is playing with me, tricky little something! Standing right in front of me and still I did not recognize her. She lost all of her usual treats, put on a wig and a silly costume. I have never seen her in such an odd fluffy-buttery-sponge-soft yet spicy-woody appearance before.

This flower is pumped with sweet vanilla. It can hardly be called a flower anymore. Oddly sweet, rather gourmand even. Then there is this frankincense-cardamom duo. They appear more obvious, right from the start. Their rough edges are all shaven off, though, so they are struggling to drag the scent out of the gourmand opening. But they prevail. Eventually, there is a bit of an oud note in the base. Again, this note is completely softened up, turned into a skinny wobbly twig. What the heck?

And still, all of those sissy flavors combined make this an odd but, like Mlleghoul said, a fun experience. It has a tacky first appearance and then messes with it. Squishy soft on all sides, but just enough zing to make a likeable personality, albeit a little eccentric.

Both opulent and trashy like Peggy Bundy through the lens of a 1970s New Wave Czechoslovakian gothic drama
The copy for The Bewitching Yasmine from Penhaligon’s Portrait collection is kind of silly in a Regency romance sort of way “Yasmine’s sights are set on London – and a suitable match. Her fragrance is a voluptuous affair: jasmine, incense, oud. A celebration of all that is gloriously sensual. Who could resist?” But the musky shadows of this deliriously poisonous confectionery fairy tale floral reads less like a novel of manners and more like a New Wave Czechoslovakian gothic drama through a slightly sleazy and heavily decadent 1970’s lens. And if in that word salad of melodrama you sussed that I am obliquely referring to a gloriously wicked character from the 1972 film Morgiana, then we are obviously besties. If you’re not keeping up, that’s okay, we’ll visit another point of reference. Imagine the vanilla-dusted amaretto-spiked jasmine and sassafras latte of Dior’s Hypnotic Poison and lock it in a psychedelic velvet carpet bag with oud’s bitter earthy fables, and the strange otherworldly poetry of cardamom incense. Bury the satchel for one hundred years in an abandoned cliffside cemetery, dig it up, air it out, and the resulting fragrance is The Bewitching Yasmine. Or, back to Morgiana–although the actress who played the jealous and vindictive Viktoria was singularly, splendidly perfect, and no one could ever replace her…imagine the divine tackiness of Peggy Bundy in that role? That is the very essence of Penhaligon’s The Bewitching Yasmine. This is a fragrance somehow both luxurious and trashy. What do we call the intersection of these things? Self-indulgent? Sinful? None of those really feels right. And there’s something not quite right about this scent, too–maybe that’s why it’s so much evocative fun.

A cardamom wonder
From the first spray, I am getting MFK-esque vibes. Think Oud Satin Mood.
Rich, deep, spicy. Not for the faint of heart!
This is the perfect season to give The Bewitching Yasmine a go - an oudy, spicy fragrance with just the right amount of sweetness, so it doesn't become too cloying.

The fragrance reminds me so much of a scent I have already tried and reviewed, but I cannot remember which. I still keep thinking of Oud Satin Mood from MFK, but Yasmine is without any notes of rose.
The cardamom is at the forefront and is absolutely delicious, I get smokiness from the incense and just the right amount of creaminess and note of gourmand with the vanilla. I cannot wait to try this on my skin!

Beautiful, but like Oud Satin Mood, I feel overpowered by this kind of scent. I absolutely adore Woody Vanillas, I feel so empowered when wearing By the Fireplace or Memoirs of a Trespasser, but something about Yasmine is heavy, and maybe too much so.
After the initial dry down, she reminds me of Sweetly Known by Kerosene. It's the same, gorgeous cardamom, just lighter. Kerosene does NOT play when it comes to the performance of their fragrances.

After complete oxidation, Yasmine is a wonderfully soft cardamom scent. Not as strong and boozy as Sweetly Known. And not as strong as previously presumed by the first sprays. Gone is the MFK impression. It is, however, a 'would like to have' and neither a need or want to have. Were it to be in my collection, I would definitely wear it in autumn and winter, but I find it to have a poor projection for the price tag. The longevity is good, I could smell it, close to skin, six hours later.

Yasmine is really nice and cozy, I would definitely wear it again, but will satiate my appetite for Woody Vanillas with BTF an MOAT. Though a good sale would have me thinking of it...

Criminally underrated gem
One of the sexiest offerings from the entire Penhaligon’s collection. The (declared) notes are very well blended and in perfect harmony, what I get the most is the incense/vanilla/cardamom combo, with an Oud, coffee and jasmine mix in the background. When I smell this fragrance I think of a perfect balance. The declared notes are really distinguishable and it feels like they all have equal strength/ratio when it comes to the final result. Criminally underrated gem with surprising longevity and sillage. Intriguing and mysterious on a man, majestic and “bewitching” on a woman.

The other day in New Delhi
Since I am at the moment to the sweet Orientals very inclined (do not worry, you cute, glutäugigen toyboys - I mean the fragrances!), I took me the charming Yasmine before. Somehow I had an image of Barbara Eden in my head until the first spray, but that fizzled out faster than a Jeanie in her bottle after I perceived the top note...
1. Yasmine is not clearly feminine.
2. Jasmine or other florals have no chance to make an appearance.
3. I fell into an Indian dessert.
I like cardamom. I also like Indian, Sri Lankan or Pakistani desserts.
I also like coffee with dessert.
If you don't think like me, the scent has no place in your home.
It is a delicately vanilla-sweet, thankfully only slightly oudy, spicy, cardamom coffee treat.
Maybe Lao oud is especially nice to my nose, because it can't get enough of this scent.
If it came from Guerlain, I would have bought it already. So I'm still considering, but as a now-time oriental, it can definitely hold a candle to my recently tested 80s orientals: It's modern, oudy, gourmand, and doesn't smell like shoulder pads and old aunts. If that's not a selling point, I'll eat an eaglewood broom.
