The Rose For Every Collection
This is a classic rose fragrance that deserves to be in most everyone's collection. It skews neither mature nor youthful, and is neither a soliflore or overcomplicated concoction.

It's very similar to Chloé (2007) Eau de Parfum, excepting the pink peppercorn note. I'm actually not a fan of spices in general, and on my skin the pepper really hangs on, so I was thrilled to discover Amazing Grace Ballet Rose.

Philosophy has an EDP version that is the same as the EDT (Yay!) that has a bit better staying power and greater presence. I like both, but I chose to go full bottle on the EDP so I'd have fewer touchups.

Update: Philosophy is discontinuing the edt.

Rose Heaven
This is such a lovely rose scent! I am a rose lover, so I could be biased. This is a very delicate, light scent, but it is a floral rose, not rosewater. It isn't heavy like most floral rose scents. It is more like a few rose petals that have fallen but still hold their fragrance. It is slightly sweet but not at all in a gourmand way, just a slight pink sweetness from the peony. It is more of a basic scent, but I believe that works in its favor. It is classic and definitely not a "mature rose" like some fragrances have. I found this one at a thrift store for very cheap, and I'm so glad I did!

Carrot-like freshness
When I smell a rose in real life, the petals have something fresh and earthy to them that smells like a freshly chopped, sweet carrot (I learned this is due to the carotenoids in roses, that cause pigment).

I love rose in fragrances, but not this particular (carrot-y) part of the rose; it's a beautiful experience with a real rose - but when that "carrot" feel is in a bottled fragrance, it feels strange to me.

As a result, this smelled like taking rose-scented diaper cream and serving it with a side of carrots.

The sharpness/carroty-like note did soften pretty quickly, but it was off-putting for me and didn't work for my nose. Would suggest testing at Ulta first before buying a full bottle.

Pleasant Rose and all
I have to say that I didn’t like the original Amazing Grace much at all, and so I was surprised how much I actually appreciated this one. The opening is beautiful. It’s pure rose after the rain and you are transported to the summertime in the garden. The base notes are musky woods which gives it a sharper edge. On me it smelled like a rose scented lotion in the very end. I can still trace Amazing Grace DNA at the base- the cleanliness and a sort of safe home-base kind of feeling. It’s not a powerhouse kind of scent, soft and safe for everyday and those that like roses and flowery scents. I would not describe it as a romantic rose, it is very clean pure classic ballet kind of rose indeed. I also do not care much for the bottle design. However, sometimes we want just something very simple, pure and dependable, and there is nothing wrong with that. I am not very familiar with Niche fragrances, but it can be certainly compared to Chloe Roses perfume or Stella by Stella McCartney. Both of the latter scents are more intriguing in my humble opinion. I especially love Stella. All in all, I really enjoyed Amazing Grace Ballet rose.

I like the body wash more than I like the perfume. It’s a nice scent, but the body wash seems to last longer than the perfume.
