Such a beautiful bottle
Well, at least the title says something nice about the scent. Thank you, Daisy, I had the fragrance on my watchlist because the pyramid looks appealing to me. And now I can see for myself if I can hear the melody while reading the score. No, not this time, because Eau Empire presents itself to me quite differently than I expected.

First of all, the scent stings my nose quite a bit after spraying. I don't notice any gentle, tart green tea or grapefruit, but rather something like acetone or similar. At the same time, a strange spicy sweetness pushes forward, which, although it doesn't last, somehow feels out of place. I believe galbanum and nutmeg are not a very harmonious combination. The lily of the valley doesn't stand a chance against the two. I find the scent quite odd.

Well, the base is quite pleasant. It does take quite a while to make its presence known, but at least. However, it takes too long for me, and it's not worth it. So once again, I am warned to refrain from blind purchases based on pyramids.

No wonder the Empire fell!
At least if it smelled like this fragrance! It belongs to the Collection Privée, which also includes Eau Sublime, a scent I greatly appreciate and own.
But Eau Empire does not meet my expectations for a fragrance worthy of the Empire in any way. It is harsh, scratchy, sharp, and distinctly unpleasant, as it makes me feel nauseous.

At first, it smells like aftershave, specifically one from the no-name category. Not a single one of the listed fragrance notes is recognizable to me. The top and heart notes are not different either, at least not on my skin. It smells somewhat green-floral sweet-bitter, and I am very surprised that this is supposed to be a unisex fragrance. For me, it belongs more in the category of commercial men's fragrances.

Will it become more pleasant in the base? So far, no, and that has already been three hours. It still scratches and burns in my nose, just like at the beginning. As much as I regret it, someone else will have to take over the detailed description of the base; I can no longer tolerate this fragrance and must remove it.

The sillage and longevity certainly leave nothing to be desired, but I did not expect something like this from Rancé!
