Do Re aka Heliotrope

In 2008, Reminiscence released the Les Notes Gourmandes series, consisting of four fragrances: Do Re, Mi Fa, Sol La and Si Do, which obviously is the name of the notes of the musical scale (in French, Italian and some other languages).
Later, in 2012-13, the fragrances were renamed, and the line now represented by Heliotrope, Guimauve and Dragee.
Do Re (aka Heliotrope) is definitely for gourmand lovers. On my skin it is mostly Almonds (= heliotrope) and Coconut. But the scent is not as simple as it might seem: it has some green (almost minty) freshness that the fig leaf probably brings in, and a soft vanilla woodiness in the base. Beeing essentially a gourmand, the composition is not overly sweet - it is pleasant enough to wear in the heat, and I think it will be great for adding more colors to your vacations on the beach.

I'm surprised to see all of the notes listed, because I get nothing but heliotrope in this. I like heliotrope very much, but don't see the need for this in my collection because it doesn't do anything new with the note. (060509)

Pistachio fluff dessert

Holy wow this is such a soft almond dessert-centered fragrance that at first sniff I was thrown back 25 years ago to my grandma’s kitchen. Pistachio fluff! There’s got to be others out there who know what I’m talking about- the pistachio marshmallow fluff dessert that’s often light green and has almonds, pineapple, and amaretto cherries mixed in. I smell exactly like it and it’s hard to objectively look at this because I have such fond memories of the scent. I don’t think I’d like to smell like it all day, but it’s beautiful in its own right. Sugary, soft, powdery, nutty with some syrupy fruits on top.

Exactly what I was looking for

I swapped for this fragrance, even though I didn't know it beforehand. The scent pyramid sounded somewhat nice (I'm actually not a fan of green notes) and the comments were so convincing that I was almost sure I would love this fragrance.
Just now, the package from dear Nadi arrived, and what can I say?
Opened the package, took out the perfume, sprayed it on my arm and: Mmmmmh!
Pistachio ice cream, almond cream, vanilla mousse, all in a beautiful green bottle, and my heart is crying with joy.
This is exactly what I was looking for! The perfect alternative to the quite expensive Guerlain gourmands, which I also love but can only use sparingly.
I had hoped so much to love this scent, and I am overjoyed to do so with all my heart!
Not too sweet (no, really not), not too edible, not synthetic, not too expensive.
From today on, definitely my new treasure, and I am overjoyed! :-)

(My) Little Green Gourmand

Of the three Les Notes Gourmandes fragrances, this perfume is the only one that does not carry a "proper" gourmand name, but rather the name of a plant. Heliotrope is also known as "vanilla flower" or "cherry cake flower," as its scent indeed reminds one of vanilla and marzipan. Heliotropin has sweetened many fine perfumes and found its use here as well.

The older sister in the Les Notes Gourmands trio was the most cumbersome for me - as its sweetness is mixed with a portion of balsamic spice, and the scent comes across as green in a certain way. The first half hour was particularly challenging for me - I experienced a full dose of benzoin balsam, which is why I understand the medical associations some people have with this perfume. After that, the scent becomes more conciliatory, with a green-tinged sweetness that truly caresses you. Whether this sweetness is meant to resemble pistachio ice cream or amaretti cookies is left to the preferences of the individual tester : ).

The scent lasts about 7 hours on my skin, with good projection and sillage. On clothing, the scent lasts significantly longer and could become intrusive.

I haven't quite warmed up to the scent, although it is undeniably interestingly composed. For anyone looking to try a sugary gourmand of a special kind, it would be worth testing.
