Cuir Beluga's summery, happy-go-lucky cousin!
From the name "Vanille" I assumed this would be a simple vanilla scent, but there's more to it.
Vanilla is present right from the start, but I also get a lot of osmanthus and exotic florals. The osmanthus gives the scent a wonderful fuzzy peach skin note in the opening. Later as the scent dries down, the tonka bean turns more noticeable. It adds a layer of sweet powder, but also a kind of fizzy, cheerful hint of cherry. The benzoin and praline make the base extra warm. I can't say that I get a lot of patchouli or musk here, this is more of a smooth, balsamic, gourmandish vanilla with fruity accents.
The powdery vanilla drydown really reminds me of Cuir Beluga, but as I said, they're cousins, not twins. Cuir Beluga feels more serious and wintery with its beautiful soft suede note. Vanille could be worn year round, but the florals and phantom fruits remind me of summer, and it's a more uplifting scent.

I'm a bit sad I only discovered this after it was discontinued. Reminiscence makes such nice fragrances and they're usually very affordable. Hope they'll bring this back one day.

The Mole
A little cricket had been making music all summer long. She had fiddled, fiddled, and fiddled. But when winter came and it got cold, she realized that she had neither supplies nor a roof over her head.
So she went to the chief forester, the stag beetle, and asked him if she could stay with him over the winter. "No, no," he said, "fiddling around all summer and not caring about anything, but then living at other people's expense, you can forget that!"
Then the cricket went to the squirrel, who really had supplies for four winters, but here too she was turned away with the words, "Those who don’t take care of themselves get nothing!"
Now she trudged to the mole, who lived in a basement apartment. "Oh, a visitor! How wonderful! Come a little closer, I can’t see very well." She gladly stepped inside; not only was the mole super friendly, but it also smelled wonderful in his home. Strung-up vanilla pods were spread throughout the apartment, and on the stove stood a pot of heliotrope soup. When the mole recognized the cricket, he was even happier, as he had often listened to her playing in the summer. "Play on your violin," and the cricket fiddled while the oven bubbled. They brewed an iris tea to go with the vanilla blossom soup, and sometimes there was even a tiny bit of patchouli for each of them. In the evenings, they sat on the warm, soft sofa, drank hot chocolate, read together, and never, ever argued. Thus, winter flew by like a day; it was probably the most beautiful winter of their entire lives.

'Réminiscence Vanille' is total vanilla power. Vanilla, vanilla blossoms, and only if you smell very closely can you detect the patchouli. The scent is not overly sweet or sticky; it appears rather creamy and rich due to musk and tonka. Moreover, it stays very close to the skin.
It’s not my fragrance, but for vanilla lovers, it’s probably a delight, as it comes across as so subtle and unpretentious. A warm-spicy-winter vanilla, cozy like on the mole's sofa.

Flashback
Warmth surrounds me.
Dark, feather-light, infinitely tender warmth, protecting and holding me like a mother’s arms cradle her newborn, shielding me from all the cold, all the troubles of the world.
Eyes closed, breath slow and deep, no thoughts in my head.
Weightlessness, security, absolute peace.
Did it feel like this, back in my mother’s womb, long before my birth?

Something touches me - I open my eyes, my gaze falls on the small vial in front of me on the table, filled with a light liquid.
“Reminiscence Vanille” is written on the vial - two words behind which a whole world of comfort hides.
Immediately, I want to dive back into this feeling of boundless safety and being cherished, of sweet simply-being, free from all worries and troubles of the oh-so-adult everyday life - but the relentlessly advancing second hand of my watch seizes control again and pulls me back into the present.
At least for the moment.

Nothing had prepared me for this impression - when I looked at the pyramid, I still thought “sweet, sweeter, Reminiscence Vanille.”
Vanilla in all conceivable variations, heliotrope, tonka, benzoin, and musk promised a gourmand punch of a special kind, further intensified by orchid and jasmine, which had not exactly shone with shyness on my skin so far.

But I needn’t have worried - “Vanille” makes no attempts to overwhelm me, cause headaches, or even make me reach for my toothbrush prophylactically.
A friendly radiance greets me at the start - the brightness of bergamot harmoniously blends with the still subtle vanilla and dark undertones, immediately triggering a distinct sense of well-being within me.
Soon, delicate floral veils weave in - the orchid is the only one I can clearly perceive, remaining reserved and forgoing the leading role it usually enjoys.
From this point on, the composition is so beautifully balanced that individual components can no longer be separated (or should be) - becoming darker and deeper, warmer and richer, while being accompanied by a restrained sweetness, “Vanille” leads me out of the constraints and structures of my everyday life, gently pulling the ground from under my feet and allowing me to float away into a past where there were no thoughts, no worries, no fears, and no expectations.
Only perfection.

The Comforting Vanilla
Since I generally have a strong affinity for vanilla and my collection already includes several fragrances with vanilla notes, I wanted to find a particularly gentle vanilla scent with vanilla as the main actress.
Essentially to cover the area of cozy and comforting scents, especially important now in winter with its cold, dark evenings. Initially, I sniffed through the "L'Art et La Matière" line from Guerlain and was consistently thrilled, to put it mildly. These vanilla masterpieces completely captivated me, and particularly the luxurious "Cuir Beluga" was at the top of my wish list.

However, just before making the purchase, I stumbled upon "Vanille" by Reminiscence. The few reports about it made me increasingly curious, and the French jewelry and fragrance house from Paris became more and more appealing to me.
So I ordered the scent blind. And fortunately, it met all my expectations and is now one of my best horses in the stable. In fact, the similarity to "Cuir Beluga" is strikingly high, especially at only a third of the price! I see a match of at least 95% when wearing the scent normally on the body and not conducting a meticulous lab test.

Of course, it doesn't quite reach the impressive finesse of Guerlain in detail, but still, "Vanille" is a fragrance that creates just as warm and protective an aura around you as "Cuir Beluga"; you can imagine it like an enveloping veil.
The scent also feels very soft, fluffy, powdery, and silky due to the heliotrope. It's simply the gentleness in fragrance form, not too sweet and loud, but typically French and always elegantly understated.
Nevertheless, longevity and sillage should not be underestimated; I even think "Cuir Beluga" is particularly inferior to the scent from Reminiscence in terms of sillage. The bottle is also a true gem, slightly concave on the front, giving it an elegant shape. However, it unfortunately cannot quite compete with the noble Guerlain bottle.

Now some gentlemen might wonder, is this something for us too? Absolutely, this is one of the scents I will always repurchase as soon as the level reaches a concerning state. A clear must-have that should not be missing from any respectable collection of a passionate fragrance lover. And just like that, you have another puzzle piece of the perfect perfume portrait, which many of us are likely chasing after...

Free Hugs
Years ago, when I was a bit crazier about fandom, I went to a convention every year (the wedding dress will surely remember)
There, lovely people from all over the world came together to have a great time. And one of the activities at the convention was the Free Hugs initiative.
So there were total strangers offering a hug: for free.
All of it with a smile and kind wishes.

Vanilla is just like that. I associate wonderful deep hugs with this scent.
The fragrance is blessed with beautiful gifts that it brings for free.
Joy. Calm. Security. Brightness and depth, warmth, protection, and strength.
Even though the beginning of the scent may sometimes come off a bit strong, a robust hug has never harmed anyone, because after a while, the fragrance simply becomes dreamily warm, cuddly, and delicate.
Light hugs don’t hurt; they show affection, friendship, and the feeling of being glad you’re here.
The scent surprisingly lasts a long time on my skin, becoming powdery vanilla, never too heavy or boring, never pretentious or overwhelming.
An intimate loving hug can replace millions of words; often, kindness and physical exchange easily convey what sometimes goes unspoken.
Sure, the scent won't appeal to everyone, but I still think it reaches many people.

We should hug each other more often. Just like that. Even without a reason. With a smile. With more or less strength, it should just be genuine and heartfelt.
They cost us nothing, we lose nothing by giving them, but they bring us so much!

I really like the scent, not just because I like vanilla.
But for the feelings and perceptions it brings with it!

A perfect floral vanilla with citrus and heliotrope. Very elegant. A good alternative to Guerlain's Cuir Beluga, with better longevity.

Dusty, ancient vanilla with powdered dust and musty dust.

Beautiful blend of vanilla, benzoin and a touch of powdery patchouli. Just the right balance between sweetness and warmth.

Great light vanilla scent. Not so Gourmand, great for men too. Leans a lot against La Stanza delle Bambole from Nobile 1942, I mean a lot.

A little disappointed: the "medicinal" vanilla note covers the oriental base accord. Anyway a warm fall-winter scent with a good sillage

Vanilla, unlike many others of its kind, is not overly sweet but comes across beautifully spicy. At first, it reminds me of Cuir Beluga. Well done!

If you think patchouli goes with vanilla: come this way. If you hope the devil's herb won't stand out this time: flee, you fools!

Fantastic praline-like noble vanilla with subtle undertones of patchouli's bitterness. Bright, sunny yellow, elegant, enveloping, carefree.. :-)

Reminiscent of "Cuir Beluga" (haha), the vanilla is much more "in your face" - #denglischistnochnichttotyet

A very fine, fluffy creamy vanilla scent with a subtle floral undertone. Stays close to the skin but lasts quite well. I like it!
