Till now I tested several musc-scents. Usually they are a little bit like baby-powder and like body creams like Nivea and similars.
But "Musc" by Réminiscence" ist a very serious version of a musc scent. It starts with a whiff of citrus which gives way for a woody vanilla without pudding note. The musc is following. A short period "Musc" seems to become a gourmand through an almond accord. I'm not sure, but as well tonka and/or heliotrop note could be added. And then I am smelling a woody and not to dark patchouli. It is not listed. But I did not use any perfume with patchouli today and I'm now testing after my shower. I do not use fragranted body-care.
"Musc" is a very pleasent but tangy and woody but moderate creamy perfume for every day without blossoms. It will not disgrace the user by smelling similar to baby creams. It is for adults only.

Timeless white musk with a flaw

Most of this scent is really nice: Classic, clean white musk, sparkling aldehydes, sweet almonds and vanilla, and a bit of a woodruff vibe due to the combination of coumarin and freshness.
I find it rather timeless for something that was issued in the 70s. Soft and fluffy with that reliable, skin-like musk note that has been in drugstore fragrance and oils for decades. I like this kind of musk much better than some of the sharp, abrasive musks in recent creations.

Unfortunately there is one thing that really throws me off: This has an unpleasant, dusty overtone to my nose that keeps me from enjoying the rest of the scent. Somehwat like the smell in old basements or attics. Ugh, what a pity! It gets better after a couple of hours, but I can't deal with it for that long.
Therefore I'm all in all not that impressed, but I imagine that it might smell better on others.

A Different Sense of Femininity

I purchased Musc at Alsterhaus during the sale without testing it.

I belong to the group of perfume users who don't care whether the scent was created for women or men.

As soon as I got home, I sprayed M on the back of my hand. The fragrance starts with a floral fresh accord. After about 5 minutes, the coumarin really comes into play for me. A delicious scent of woodruff surrounds me. The woodruff accord remains until the base note, where it harmoniously blends with the musk and amber into a pleasant powdery, not too sweet whole.

I don't find this scent particularly feminine. Probably, in the 70s, there was a different sense of femininity. I couldn't detect a hairspray smell. If anyone can recognize the scent of hairspray, it's me!

I received many compliments for this fragrance. My best friend pestered me during her last visit to HH until I gifted it to her in a moment of goodwill. A good deed every day!

Addendum.
Since both Alsterhaus and Hamburger Hof Parfümerie have removed Reminiscence from their range, I have found a new source in the meantime.

Seventies Musk

This musk has been around for 40 years. And you can definitely smell it. Flashback to the seventies: This is how musk smelled back then, and this is how it still smells at Réminiscence today. And that's a good thing, one might add.

A bit old-fashioned, but not dusty. A bit nostalgic, but not overly sentimental. Flower Power, disco, and schlager - all of this is quite a while ago, but at least there was already color television. In this respect, we are also moving olfactorily in more familiar territories than, let's say, during the economic miracle or even before that.

Musc is a straightforward musk scent. It comes across rather confidently, but without a sledgehammer. Fluffy and powdery, not as sweet as the classic from Body Shop, with a fun coumarin (woodruff) note in the base. Not a sharp, piercing, soapy crystal musk, but a big airy white cotton ball. The texture of the scent (if there is such a thing...) is not dry, but rather oily. That's probably why I immediately picture the local basement thrift store from my childhood: silver bracelets, leather bands, batik scarves, cola tea, and of course the fragrance oils in mini bottles. That and the stars on the bottle and cap (I had a sports bag with stars on it back then). It feels so endearingly retro today, I like that.

The scent hardly develops, but the intensity for a pure musk fragrance is quite good for me, and the longevity is decent. Musc is not a complex and multifaceted fragrance experience, but a nice, cozy, calm musk scent for unexciting occasions.

Delicate and Fleeting

Here it is, the fragrance that is 9 years older than me - and thus I am no longer a young sprout.

I really enjoy the scent of woodruff, especially when it is accompanied by a delicate powdery touch. In this context, "musk" is often mentioned.
So I looked around in the souk and found a full bottle for a small price.
When it arrived, I, of course, tried it immediately - and even at 50 years old, it has something to offer! This delicate, powdered woodruff note is immediately perceptible to me. Soft like a sweet forest fairy in a gentle whisper. A hint of almond scent and small white-flowering star anise accompany this delightful arrangement. I like this fragrance so much; it caresses the senses.
If only the sillage and longevity were a bit more robust, it would be unbeatable for me.
As it stands, it remains the little, translucent woodruff fairy, which is a fleeting little thing. But it is still enchanting.

It's nice but I find other clean musks (Pure or Parisian Musc) more interesting. Not great longevity which can be expected from EdT.
