Modern Fougère!
When this came out in 2020, i immediately became interested on it, mainly for 2 things. First, i love many other offering from the brand, and second, was created by Bruno Jovanovic, who doesn't have many designers on their portfolio, but is a great nose.
I bought it in the end of that year, blindly. When i smelled it for the first time, it reminded me of K Eau de Toilette which i like but i find it a bit light in the drydown. So, i also liked this one, right off the bat. The problem here is that this one has some molecule that, sometimes, annoys me a bit and gives me some "headaches". This is probably a synthetic amberwood or something a-like.
Anyway, i wore this a lot to really test it during work, casual events, at home, date nights, etc... half the bottle gone and i became a fan of it.
How does it smell? Fresh-sweet, masculine and modern. It starts off fresh and super contemporary. Sweet blue vibe in the vein of Bleu but with more fruitiness. I detect that sweet blood orange mixed with the juicy pineapple and after a couple of minutes, the geranium. And i find the geranium the key to this one. Fresh bitter green mintiness of the geranium mixed with the fruitiness and with that Fougère backbone (Moss and patchouli with a bit of tonka bean to maintain the sweetness of the top notes).
It's really modern but, at the same time, with a classic backbone, giving substance and masculinity. After 1h, the fruitiness fades away and the aromatic heart bacame the main player, again, with geraium and a bit of basil/juniper berries palying together for this great aromatic fougère finale.
Super strong stuff! Projection is great in the first 2h and the longevity is 12+ hours, easily. It's a compliment getter too, which is a bonus. The caviar here is the modern molecule that sometimes appears to turn me off a bit. It would be a 5/5 for me if it wasn't that molecule. But it's not super strong and irritating like in many other new fragrances nowadays, specially beacuse of the strong classical base.
Rochas L'Homme is super versatile, well composed and super recommendable for it's modern fougère concept. If you like aromatic fougeres and want a modern take on it, this is a great pick up. Btw, I think this is far supperior to Moustache EDP, which i find boring and very linear.
PS: The bottle is also beautiful and heavy!
