A last Hooray from the old world
I am the lucky owner of a Lotion - a bottle dated 1955-1965, which means, that it is made with the real nitro musks, natural civet, and oakmoss. When I put a really small amount on my skin I time travel. At first it smells really medicinal. Like cough mixture from when I was little. But after ten to fifteen minutes it changes. Totally. It becomes a beatiful spicy-sweet floral mix. Carnations, probably patchouli and Tonka bean. But I am aware that the juice has changed. What is left is a bit like soup stock. Very heavy and intense. It smells really good, though.
The box says 'Lotion' which was quite common in the fifties and sixties. The juice inside is like an extrait. My bottle has a plastic top, so it is not the oldest version - that would be the ones with bakelite tops.
I think I shall go hunting for the Fleurs d'Amours in any variation i stumble across. The bottles are amazing and it feels so good to hold an item from a time before the world became complicated.
