Bug Spray...
Loence opens with a relatively transparent sharp, fresh quick blast of juniper with a slight aromatic patchouli undertone. Moving to its early heart the aromatic patchouli takes control, now joined by radiant frankincense rising from the base. During the late dry-down the composition gradually jettisons the patchouli, leaving the frankincense to meld with a natural smelling woody supporting accord through the finish. Projection is on the low side of average, but longevity is excellent at around 12 hours on skin.

There really is nothing much to say about Loence except it is a major disappointment. The key heart accord that pairs aromatic patchouli with radiant frankincense conveys an aroma not unlike generic bathroom cleaner or even, dare I say, bug spray. The late dry-down is much more enticing as the frankincense drops the patchouli, instead paring with a natural smelling woody undertone that works much better as support, but by this time it is just too late to salvage the composition, sadly. In short, maybe Loence would work wonders fumigating a room, but as a perfume one would want to wear I would have to say it is a failure. The bottom line is the 119 Euro per 50ml bottle Loence may have some use in the world, but in my mind it isn't as a perfume to be worn on skin, earning it a "poor" 1.5 to 2 stars out of 5 rating and a significant avoid recommendation.

Sauna Infusion
The term "sharp wood" from water lily describes the main part of Loence (I can't quite get the accent right) very accurately.

I keep envisioning a (what are they called again?) sauna attendant/infusion preparer/sauna master, who prepares the classic pine forest infusion every half hour, with plenty of essential oils, a bit of smoke, and absolutely unsweetened, for the infusion purists, without that modern fruity nonsense. The incense has nothing to do with church, but rather provides a certain angularity here.

I'm not sure if someone who doesn't work as a sauna master would really want to smell like this, whether man or woman, but who knows?!

After 8 hours, I can still perceive Loence well on my arm, although for the past half of that time, it's been more of a skin-close experience.

Sharp Holy Wood
Once again no comment yet! But if I always check only after wearing a fragrance for several hours, I have to expect that with such a rather unknown scent.
First the progression: "Lôence" starts off very sharp with spices and is immediately dry and woody. Then follows closely a phase of dried fruit aromas, plum for example, and after tobacco, unburned, fresh from the can or pack.
However, around me and in the room, it continues to smell only of sharp, aromatic woods with spices.
This phase, which is only perceptible close to the skin, disappears after about 30 minutes, and then an extremely sharp woody scent remains unchanged for many hours.
It is a mixture of predominantly initially synthetic wood scents, partly reminiscent of aromatic coniferous woods and spices like juniper, very sharp pepper, and also the aromatic cubeb pepper.
I wouldn't have come to the scent of incense, which often has very distinct balsamic resin notes and herbal scents.
However, the term incense is not something that is limited to a very specific, precisely defined scent note. There are many resins that are part of incense mixtures. There are different resins from incense shrubs and bushes. And from various regions. They all smell different. Various types of incense are also suggested in the ingredient list here. I am not knowledgeable enough to name any specific ones.
My incense smells different anyway. "Cardinal" by Heely smells completely different to me. And church incense too. But incense for religious purposes is also made in very different mixtures.
It is similar with incense as it is with "curry". There are so many mixtures of curry, also regarding the spiciness, the scent, and the taste.
It is the same with incense. It is almost always just mixtures of resins, herbs, and spices that are burned, whether for religious and spiritual ceremonies or also for medical reasons or both as a unit. That is why it is called "holy" and from ancient European languages: "Holy Smoke" equals incense, Why.., Wy... etc. Such mixtures were mixed into "holy water" for sprinkling and cleansing. And now, as here, incorporated as scent essences in perfumes.
Pure incense resins from Northeast Africa are very precious, they are mentioned here as ingredients.
I will leave it at that. "Lôence" as a fragrance is for me a fragrant, strong, and beautiful scent, almost uncompromising. But I do not perceive "Lôence" as a new experimental fragrance, and on the other hand, I cannot quite imagine "Lôence" as a perfume. For me, it is a room scent, a holy water.
I miss a balsamic resinous quality, for example. However, if one were to add lavender and similar herbs and flowers, it would again be a completely ordinary men's fragrance. That is how I imagine it anyway.
Longevity and sillage are very good with "Lôence". Unisex? This time I say: "The women have to know that for themselves. To me, "Lôence" is too masculine as a perfume.

Spicy, aromatic, dry wood. Then dried fruit, tobacco, fresh scent. Pleasant, strong, beautiful room fragrance.

I have to agree with Ergoproxy - it also reminds me of spicy food (game meat) and the digestif is already included :-(

Strange scent. At first it reminds me of spicy food, then slowly of harsh floor cleaners. Not uninteresting, but rather unbearable.
