Patchouli-oudi amber
This Spanish brand has been around for over a decade, but it did a good job staying under the radar. If it weren't for the free samples, I would not have thought of giving them a try. The first one I tried, though, Primal Waters - TDM: Torroella de Montgrí turned out to be a terpene wave so that was an immediate buy. Eau Dadà is not going to make it to my wardrobe, but it is a decent effort to ride the patchouli-amber trend.

The opening is a familiar patchouli-labdanum accord in the vein of Le Lion de Chanel and 8.1 L'Ombre Fauve, although the balance is leaning more towards patchouli than labdanum here. The addition of a mild incense and an oud note is an interesting variation. There is an annoying rubbery or doughy impression for a while. I blame that on the saffron. In the drydown the oud and saffron are gone first and a pleasant woody-amber skin scent remains.

I would say this scores high points in terms of comfort and wearability. Quality-wise it feels okay, nothing outworldly. For me, the screechy saffron note kind of messed up the experience.

Shimmering Silence Instead of Revolt and Scandal
The fragrance starts warm, slightly floral, earthy, and powdery. If one concentrates, they might recognize iris root in the opening. Soon, a strict note appears, reminiscent of ink or very artificial cedar, which quickly merges with the background into a band-aid accord, fortunately only so faintly that it does not become unpleasant. Next, there is a brief impression as if a cigar box has been opened in the distance. Finally, Eau Dadà settles into a subtle earthy-woody base with a powdery undertone, likely labdanum with tame oud. This is how the fragrance fades after just four to five hours.

Looking at the ingredient list reveals the typical components of a heavy oriental with distinctly distinguishable scent notes, yet all I perceive are those aspects that resemble each other: I cannot really identify anything. Does it have to be this way? No, it doesn’t fundamentally make the fragrance worse - it’s just unexpected, especially given the name.

Eau Dadà does not strike me as a true perfume; it unfolds a more subliminal effect. It seems to want to create a pleasant framework, but not in the sense of fragrance lamp wellness or a beautiful living ambiance, rather a mood within, a feeling like being in an old wood-paneled library with soft light. Rustling paper, gentle movements, calm breathing, silence. A retreat space.

There is something that displeases me about the fragrance. At first, I thought it was something subjective: because I prefer perfumes that capture my attention more, those that create an exciting narrative and connect with me rather than simply being there and lulling me. Then I realized that it is indeed something objective: the individual scent notes do not add up in a way that the sum is greater than its parts, but rather they overlap subtractively, resulting in only the smallest common denominator of the scent notes. That is too little.

The Transformation Artist
Recently, I knew nothing about the brand Santi Burgas; it was only through the Parfumo meeting that I had the opportunity to take a sniff here, many thanks for that. I found Eau Dadà and Flaming Red particularly beautiful and ordered samples of them.

Eau Dadà has a wonderful scent progression; if you were to smell it only after 30 minutes and then again after 5 hours, you wouldn't believe it was the same perfume.

The top note is very interesting; at first, it smells like freshly applied UHU glue. After a short time, a slightly sharp note emerges, which I believe comes from the iris root. Then it becomes spicy and slightly bitter, while you can already sense the presence of oud.
Frankincense and tonka only add accents, and that's a good thing. After a while, the saffron makes itself known, and the patchouli flickers slightly, but in a very good, earthy way.

Over time, these notes become quieter, and the oud pushes itself to the forefront. After about 5 hours, it has completely left its companions behind and now shines in its full beauty, and that lasts for a very long time.
But not just any oud, but this Thai oud that, in my opinion, exudes a full-bodied, fruity scent that is breathtakingly beautiful. I have Thai agarwood for incense, and the piece I used first was covered with dark spots, which I burned. This piece of wood had exactly the same scent that stays in your memory forever.

The ingredients used in Eau Dadà are absolutely high quality, wonderfully combined, and perfectly harmonized.

Some may be bothered that after 5 hours only a single note remains; I find that very beautiful, especially since it is the note of notes and the entire progression unfolds like a staging of this performance.

Relatively mild patchouli, which is also due to the creamy vanilla. One searches in vain for any excitement in terms of intriguing facets.

It rebels like Dadaism & hits the nose sharply at first, before the fruity orange blossom oud beautifully rounds it off! BRAVO!

First, they bury you in earthy patchouli land; dig you out after 2 hours and lay you in a warm, woody coffin.
