Fruity incense
Like all other Senyoko perfumes, Madama Butterfly II is an artistic piece that is hard to classify. If I were to attempt (and miserably fail) to capture the profile into a short description it would be a fruity-incense-floral-woody. It is a wearable piece, but rather it seems to aim at conveying a unique, artsy experience and requires some attention to be fully appreciated.
The scent combines florals, woods, iris, incense and fruit. Instead of following a linear progression, the scent floats around rudderless on an ocean of notes. At all times I am surrounded by a pleasant, fairly light scent that keeps evolving in an unexpected manner. But somehow I feel a bit lost, like I have lost my sense of direction. Are we moving into the incense heart or are we going all-in on the iris now? I get a woody base, but it never really gets to that point of no return. And we're back at the fruity phase of the beginning...
So in the end I do not really know what to think of it. Madama Butterfly II is a unique experience, yes. I will remember it mostly for its subtle evolution and the striking combination of fruit and incense. Not enough to make me want to go on this trip again.
