Interesting Facts
This perfume was released on the occasion of the opening ceremony of the "House of Shiseido" 2004 in Ginza, Tokyo, as an unsaleable, limited edition. The flacon has a different pattern on each side and has been awarded the Good Design Award 2004 and the Japanese Package Design Gold Award 2005. The Karakusa pattern is said to have a symbolical meaning of "prosperity/long life" and is regarded as a lucky pattern in Japan. Its vines growing into all 4 directions without any interruption shall represent strong vitality and longevity. Even if something unfortunate occured, they would overcome it and thus, Karakusa stands for "eternal prosperity" in Japan and is considered to be good as a gift for the celebration of a new house or a wedding. Moreover, the so-called "Shiseido Karakusa pattern", together with the camellia flower (Hanatsubaki), has been an important brand symbol since 1919.
