Kidnapped
After shopping until I was about to drop a couple of weeks ago, I happened to sit on a stool at a Sisley counter to catch my breath and was immediately kidnapped by the staff. Thank goodness. "Would I like water, to try on lipstick, to get a facial, to smell perfume?" But for this attack by the nicest ladies I'd met in a good while, I wouldn't now own Sisley's incomparable chypre, Eau du Soir, or their lovely Jasmine, Eau de Sisley 1. Yesterday I left with a sample of Eau de Sisley 2. It's also beautiful, if more subdued than the first two. The woody base, the florals, herbs and citrus evoke the fragrant outdoors, more polo match than picnic because the scent's sophisticated. Sisley, a French firm, also makes cosmetics which it advertises as "the best in plants for the best in cosmetics." If you're just sick to death of having money in your purse do try their record-setting $400+ smidgen of a jar of anti-aging cream. I passed. At that price, I'll just get old. However, I couldn't resist a miracle they make called "Instant Perfect," because instantly it makes your face perfect and it sells for less than three digits. Sisley is a company founded and run by three generations of the French d'Ornano family, aristocrats not just in perfumery (the grandfather co-founded Lancôme), but Hubert, the patriarch, is a Count. Per Forbes he's now worth more than $1.3 billion. Given the quality of their products, I don't mind making them a little richer. I may add this sweetheart, too, if I get hooked on it. Guys should definitely test it for its outdoorsy airs.
