Hmmm, I have tested Sisley so many times in various stores that I wonder why I have only written one comment for this brand so far… hm… of course, one of the reasons was that most Sisley fragrances have always been in the women's section :D
Yes, try testing women's fragrances in the presence of women and surrounded by cute, pink floral bottles when you're a guy and a shy one at that! He he he :D
I have a rather positive impression of the brand, especially due to the beautiful Eau de Campagne - Country Water, which reminds me of the also beautiful Un Jardin sur le Toit by Hermès, which gives off an unusually beautiful green scent and is one of my favorite fragrances from Hermès.
Now it's time for Eau de Sisley 3 (I must admit that the name is not very creative…)! Although I mentioned it briefly in a statement some time ago, I think I should still write a comment, … I have to spam you somehow here!! And who can do that better than the ever-present DonJuanDeCat, who will soon be getting on everyone's nerves? Bahh…. *sigh* :DD
The Scent:
At the beginning, you smell grapefruit, lemon (or bergamot), and slightly sweet, yet citrusy mandarin. Everything smells nice, natural, and pleasantly refreshing! If you like citrus scents, you will enjoy the start, especially in this heat!
A few minutes later, light hints of ginger come through, but this herb can't really unfold, as more and more a floral sweetness appears (probably from the osmanthus, though I can't really identify the flowers as osmanthus), which makes the scent sweeter and slightly covers the ginger. But that's not a problem, as the scent still smells good this way. The citrus notes gradually recede from now on (but never completely disappear), making the scent softer.
Towards the base, the scent becomes a bit more floral and sweet, with the sweet notes now coming more from the gentle musk and also the vanilla. The scent ends up being beautifully warm, yet always light, making it a lovely, sweet summer fragrance.
The Sillage and Longevity:
Unfortunately, these two points are the biggest criticisms of the scent here. The projection is quite low. At first, it is still pleasantly zesty and therefore very refreshing, but within less than ten minutes, the fragrance loses most of its strength and just lingers on the skin. Sure, many summer fragrances are weak, but this one belongs to the weaker ones, which is a real shame…
The longevity is also rather low. Although you can smell the fragrance for about four hours, after less than two hours, it becomes quite weak as described earlier.
The Bottle:
The bottle is cylindrical and filled with yellowish fragrance liquid. The label is white, featuring the name of the fragrance and an image of a crown. Somehow, the label appears quite colorful due to the different colored words and numbers. While the bottle itself looks quite simple, the cap is more complex and resembles an ice sculpture, which enhances the bottle's appeal.
Hmm, yes, this fragrance from Sisley is nice. But it is neither breathtakingly superb nor particularly distinctive. A bit 0815-like, but not necessarily boring, as it smells pleasant and not synthetic. Good for spring and summer, but only for a short-term refreshment rather than for going out, as you can hardly smell it shortly after spraying, as mentioned before.
Recommended for summer if you don't mind reapplying the fragrance several times a day. Even though it is not really special, it does smell quite nice on warm days, although it would get a miserable rating from me regarding the price/performance ratio.
Yes, since I liked the scent, I think I should take a closer look at the other Sisley fragrances as well. And even though they are in the women's section (well, this one is also a women's fragrance, but it does seem a bit unisex!), I can surely test these fragrances easily, as it seems that they are often overlooked by women, and there are fewer women lingering in the aisles with this scent… which is a shame, as you might miss out on a nice fragrance… but good for me, as I can test the fragrances in peace :D
