Beachy coconut done right
This is a beautiful, balanced coconut. It really delivers on what the name promises, feels beachy and summery without smelling like sunscreen.
Obviously coconut is the star of the show here, followed by a warming vanilla base and a seabreeze-like salty note. It's quite creamy, which I always prefer over dry coconut husk scents, and while it's sweet, it doesn't cross the line to that cheap coconut-scented air freshener smell. In the opening I get a hint of citrus that makes me think of sweet limes. Later the florals become more apparent to round out the coconut scent. Frangipani adds that beachy, tropical feeling, but doesn't feel too oily like it sometimes does in other fragrances.

I'm surprised how good this is. I have tried the two vanilla fragrances by The Seven Virtues before, and both did not work for me. I'm a huge vanilla lover, but both had undertones I found offputting. Because of that, I didn't expect Coconut Sun to be "just right" on so many levels.
Salty vanilla and coconut fragrances are not exactly rare at the moment, so this doesn't reinvent the wheel, but I find it much smoother than many of them. It's a little similar to JHAG Vanilla Vibes, but the coconut makes it more exciting to me.

Fancy body spray
We are nearing the end and if I had to say upfront how my experience with The 7 Virtues has been, it has definitely been a disappointment. None of the fragrances have made an impression on me, in all honesty, I think quite badly of The 7 Virtues now. Synthetic, cloying, flat... Something just isn't right. You might as well get nicer scents from the Yves Rocher body mists or The Body Shop.

I am, however, oh so hopeful that Coconut Sun and Vanilla Woods will redeem the house of The 7 Virtues.

Coconut Sun promises something milky, creamy and tropically yellow floral. I was imagining Ylang in Gold Nectare or Eau de Soleil Blanc. What I got was a soap bar version of those scents. Coconut Sun has a soapy, fresh note. Not particularly from the citrus note though. Coconut-wise, I do get coconut water instead of coconut milk. The scent is therefore not thick and milky, but light, somewhat fresh, but made tropical and summery by the frangipani and barely there sea salt. This gives me luxurious air-refreshener vibes. Luxurious, because the scent isn't cheap or synthetic enough to be a "Tropical Beach Getaway" candle slash air-refreshener.

In all fairness, Coconut Sun isn't that bad. I just think I have gotten bitter by the disappointing scents I have tried thus far and because Coconut Sun isn't blowing me away. I am giving it a hard time.
I left Coconut Sun last night not wanting to try it on myself. This morning, I am completely surprised how much this scent reminds me of a friend. I had to contact her and ask, if she has this perfume, because the scent is uncanny!

I'm putting off trying it on myself, why? Because I'm tired of smelling badly since testing the scents of The 7 Virtues...

Coconut lying on a bed of salty florals
Not long ago, I decided to declutter all coconut-forward fragrance in my collection as I realised I'm not a fan of wearing coconut on myself and it reminds me too much of sunscreen, which is not something I want to smell like. I still remember the scent of my coconut fragrances and Coconut Sun reminds me of Sunkissed Hibiscus.

Coconut Sun definitely has that strong sunscreen and vacatation vibe to it. Coconut is very strong. It has a sweet and creamy texture to the nose. I also get the jasmine and the frangipani. First one adds a powdery, floral facet and the second one adds a tropical and creamy twist to it. Salt is faint, but adds depth to the scent. I didn't like it paired to the vanilla as I'm not a sweet n' salty gal, but some people might enjoy it. Drydown becomes warm coconut and vanilla sweetness.

I mean it's nice, but like I said, coconut isn't my thing. There's also a weird synthetic sharpness somewhere in the middle of the fragrance that doesn't call to me. I prefered Nest's version, but I recommend you test both out.

Generic coconut and florals
A relatively generic sunscreen-y coconut floral for summer. Creamy and sweet, not too synthetic, but nothing you couldn’t find for a lower price somewhere else (I would know, I have too many of them). Might be worth the splurge if you’re a big fan of jasmine or white florals in general; the florals in this fragrance are more prominent than in many other coconut summer fragrances I’ve tried. If that’s the case, I’d also recommend Nest Sunkissed Hibiscus.

Not my favorite, but not terrible.
After trying Candied Lychee and experiencing less candy and lychee than I thought, I'm not at all surprised at Coconut Sun being less coconuty or creamy, more tropical fruity floral. Something about this on the open is sharp, acidic, and not well balanced to my nose, which is annoying considering the price of this fragrance.

It takes a while to get to a vanilla with a slightly earthy, dirt smell -- never smelled the vanilla before this, and I'm guessing the earthiness is the coconut. But the way it goes from loud screeching sweet florals to vanilla earthy skin scent after an hour is kind of weird! Losing all traces of the florals or sweet fruitiness is not what I expected, though Candied Lychee did the same thing with the drydown into just peony/rose fragrance, I suppose.

Luckily, I've only got a sample, I didn't buy a bottle. But honestly, in this category, others at the same or cheaper price point are doing it better. Jo Malone Beach Blossom and Skylar Coconut Cove are both better blended and just have a more elevated, beachy feel about them.

i'm usually not a fan of summer scents but i love this one. the coconut is balanced out by the citrus and grounded by the salt and vanilla.

Floral coconut & soft salted vanilla. Frangipani most noticeable floral. Caramel-like drydown on me? Doesn't smell like the sunscreens I use

A perfect sunscreen coconut floral. Not the most unique thing in the world but the price & the brand’s ethics make it so worth it

A fine version of this type of fragrance. More floral than average, a little sour. I enjoy its saltiness. Nothing super unique.

A really weird mix of coconut and vanilla that feels like it shouldn’t go together.

Sour coconut that has gone bad with a helping of sunscreen. Probably my least favorite of all coconuts I’ve tried.

Creamy coconut with white florals. Hint of saltiness and sweetness. Has a synthetic sharpness. Nice vacation and sunscreen kind of scent.

Sunscreeny and not better than the other ones I’ve tried. Sweet like a coconut sour candy.
