Last in the bunch and I am just about done with The 7 Virtues
Let's finish how we started, with a vanilla. My hopes aren't high, though. The 7 Virtues discovery set has, unfortunately, made me disinterested in the house. I might jump hoops to try Cherry Ambitions, because I am in search of a good cherry fragrance, but I have gotten a feel of the DNA of the house and it is not for me. At all.

Vanilla Woods, alas, is not for me either. A zero percent success rate with The 7 Virtues discovery set! The fragrance opens very sweet, from the pear, and has a Royale Sugared Patchouli (one of the Kayali fragrance) vibe. During the dry down, Vanilla Woods changes a lot. The sweetness isn't as pungent and a cigarette bud note appears. I think it's here to stay. I don't get any rose or caramel, just a sweet vanilla flavored cigarette bud. Not smokey, no burning note either. But the scent of a bud laying on the pavement, fire out, a little diluted by yesterday's rain.

Lowd! I am NOT looking forward to trying it on myself.. And you know what?

I won't.

My least favourite fragrance so far
Vanilla Woods smells like you’re sitting next to (but not inside) the smoking area at your local pub; on carpet that’s been drenched in cheap beer over many years. Maybe an hour ago someone might have spilt some pear cider on it. The carpet’s warm and soggy now. You’re eating some sickly sweet vanilla dessert while you’re sitting on the gross carpet, that you regret buying now that you’ve tried it.

Not woodsy but still good
On paper, this seems like a perfume I would hate, but it's ended up as one of my favorites. I avoid rose as a rule, because it tends to come straight to the front and overpower everything else on me, but the strong vanilla note keeps it in check. I also don't personally enjoy smelling edible, so that caramel note had me worried, but I get more of that crisp and juicy pear than anything too sticky sweet. I think "Vanilla Woods" is a bit of a misnomer, as I'm not getting anything particularly woodsy, but I'm not mad about it. Definitely worth a try if you like vanillas.

Uncomplicated doesn't mean bad
Vanilla Woods is an easy to wear fruity vanilla scent. Unlike what the name may suggest, it does not have super prominent wood notes. Instead, the perfume creates multiple levels of sweet using pear, vanilla, and caramel that even non-gourmand lovers like me will enjoy.

Vanilla Woods is the perfect perfume for when you don't know what else to wear. It works for nearly every occasion and will hold up throughout the day. While this isn't a scent that most people would rate as one of their favorites, you would be hard pressed to find someone who actively dislikes it - the perfect thing to wear as a day-to-day fragrance.

Not my favorite in this genre
I really enjoy woodsy vanillas and have tried many of the fragrances that are regarded as similar to this around the web. Some of them are true loves. Unfortunately, Vanilla Woods isn't.

In principle, it's a warm vanilla with a dry, papery texture, a creamy gourmand aspect from the caramel and amber, an undertone of soft woods and a juicy cooked pear note to round things off. Rose is extremely subtle here.
The scent reminds me the most of Al-Rehab Golden Sand, which is a low budget masterpiece that was sadly discontinued in spray form. There are also similarities Swiss Arabian Casablanca (the fruitiness and caramel) and Cologne of the Missions (the texture).

But there is one thing I really dislike: For the first hours, this has a weirdly scratchy undertone. At its worst moments, it reminds me of damp, musty cardboard, at its best moments it just feels spiky and a little green. It seems to change depending on the day, sometimes it's better, sometimes worse, but it's never something I want in a vanilla fragrance. After about 2 hours it's gone, and the rest of the drydown is really nice, but why wait when there are so many similar fragrances on the market that don't have this problem?

I rate this as 5.5, so, because it changes from a dislike to a strong like and 5.5 is in the middle, but there is no phase of the perfume when I think "this is just OK". It's either good or really bad, depending on how long it's on my skin.

Spritzed a sample on my way out the door and now I'm at work smelling like an embalmed corpse so.

Beautiful opening, but after a moment it immediately turns to a very suffocating ashtray scent. I don't get it.

It smells kinda stale to me. Cigarette ashtray and dusty moth balls. I wonder if the bottle went bad? I wish I got that vanilla + pear :(

Beautifully simple, but addictive. A feminine, playful ambery-vanilla that isn't too sweet.

I think this scent depends heavily on one's skin chemistry - on me, it's divine. I only wish it lasted longer! It's not overpowering either.

She's that juicy and ripe pear scent. No vanilla could be found on my skin, so this perfume should have been named Pear Woods to me.

This one is a big disappointment for me. It’s not unpleasant, but it’s not really pleasant either. I get hints of moth balls…

Very sweet on me in a caramel and roasted pear way. It's very nice, but it is a bit too sweet for me for regular wear.
