Vanilla With A Hint Of Lotus And Pear
Lotus is my favorite flower fragrance second only to rose and I also love pear so I have been eager to try this. I've tried a couple of other 7 Virtues fragrances and I liked them well enough but they smelled very mass mid-market and unremarkable - like something that you'd get at Sephora and nowhere else.
At first spray, I really like this! You definitely get lotus and fruity sweetness right off the bat. I hesitate to say it's pear. It's the note that the perfume world recognizes as pear and while I like that note, it's not as distinctly "juicy pear" as I'd like it to be. I think it may be like strawberry in that it's hard to realistically capture its fragrance with chemicals. There's an increasingly strong vanilla element, too. Still, this is a strong start!
After the first 30 or so minutes I'm afraid I am going to have to call this "vanilla with a whisper of fruit" as the lotus is gone. The vanilla gets so strong that if I were to characterize this as anything, it would be a vanilla first, kind of like La Vanila or Comptoir Sud Pacifique. I love vanilla and I like those brands, but I have so may vanilla-heavy fragrances and I thought Lotus Pear would be a bright, light fruity floral. I'm surprised by how sweet and heavy this is. Curious Eau de Parfum is also a sweet lotus pear fragrance that manages to stay light and bright, not cloying and heavy.
If I had "Lotus Flower | Demeter Fragrance Library / The Library Of Fragrance" to re-up the lotus top note, I would give that a try and see if it saves this. At first sniff I thought this would be going on my wish list but I don't think I can justify it when I already have 3,901 vanilla-heavy fragrances.
