Petition letter for my little sister!
Dear perfume friends, dear readers,

do you know my younger sister? Surely rather not and therefore I ask also with this open letter for a little more attention for the little one.

Both our scent is very loved by many ladies and gentlemen, often exuberant and uncompromising. On the other hand, some people do not like us at all, often even including some disgust. What we rarely encounter is indifference.

We are both brash, daring sisters with a penchant for feminine-erotic sensuality, provocative rather than shy and full of frivolous elegance. The perfumes we represent, Black Orchid EdP and Black Orchid EdT, are among the best that both of our fathers, Tom Ford and David Appel, ever created.

Their motives for developing such creations were many. The desire to overcome the restrictive values and norms of the time also in the field of fragrances or the urge to find identity, self-realization and creative freedom played just as much a role as an eccentric nature, rebellion against the parental generation and of course the passionate dedication to the art of perfumery, whether this is enough to earn a living or not.

I, the big sister and an EdP, was always the olfactory and burlesque provocateur with juice and power in the sense of the word, made for strong women and women who want to radiate such and for men who love these women. My olfactory heaviness and my drunken, provocative noblesse has always been part of the backbone that should support the clients and also customers during the day and sweeten the night. Confessed, experienced and life-affirming people!

Our fragrances are very, very similar in the basics. She, my little sister, an EdT was born, however, with a, in comparison, youthful-cheerful freshness that you can only begin to imagine in me. Her brighter youthful fresher charm lacks somewhat my bulky, massive complexity, which seems a bit oily and leaden, but is part of Black Orchid's mysterious and seductive aura.

This is also evident in the drydown. In the EdP moist-earthy, sweet heaviness and in the EdT only slightly sweet, balsamic-woody, earthy moisture. In the eau de toilette, the scents are more clearly felt. The truffle is subtly mushroomy noticeable, the fruity and floral accords are clear as such and the erotic sensuality wears a silky lace panty rather than a thong. If my little sister imparts the burlesque, tantalizing sensation of a beguiling buzz, they receive a gripping rush from me. In both cases, woman/man is sexually intoxicated, if you let them.

Black Orchid EdT wants to lure, among other things, self-confident, young people who have just left their teenage years and are also looking for new ways olfactory. They know the Ponnyhofzeiten ended and are, like Tom Ford and David Appel, in search of identity, realization and creative freedom, as well as full of covetous impatience to finally live out their thought unchastity. My fragrant younger sister can and will be a faithful and supportive companion to them. And who knows, maybe they learn, dear perfume friends, then also sometime once me, her bigger sister to know!
PS: In the meantime, a straggler was born to us, a golden nestling. Called Perfume, the golden rascal is very noble. But I tell you, it has fist thick behind the ears!

Thank you very much for your time and attention. With kind regards, we recommend us!

Androgynous sweet cucumber
Black Orchid EDP has been titled "cucumber chocolate" by renown perfume critic Luca Turin, and it is so match. Not very far from the original version which is a nighty fragrance, the EDT flanker stays nigh with less chocolate of form sweetness that makes it capable for daytime. This sweet creamy air comes from the note he once used in For Man Extreme; tuber; to get the same fungal effect, and, honestly, the result is much better than EDP version. Nevertheless, Ford could not or would not get rid of that cucumber layer that blatantly dances in the opening till the heart layer. The EDP version is used by men as much as by women, that, to be straight, for me it is like men with 6.2ft height and 12 shoe size wearing pantyhose!! Black Orchid, both EDP and EDT, have strong level of carnality, nevertheless, at the same time both have kind of immaturity. A kind of oxymoron feature behind punchy insisting sexiness and incognito presence of character. Never mind, who cares! What is good is good and it sells so.

Heavy
Wicked, dark, heavy. I've got pictures going through my head, but hello. It was too much for me then. Another heavy scent without this wicked touch I find at Montale Golden Aoud. For fans of heavy fragrances, undefined flowery.

Black Orchid EDT
This review is on the edt version of the original Black Orchid. Normally marketed to women, this has gained some popularity with men as well. How unisex is this version? Please watch for more.

More concise & approachable take on Black Orchid.
After a long drive to Neiman Marcus for Creed-related purposes, I nearly walked right past this beauty, sitting in a sad, dark, lonely corner. I'm glad I caught it out of the corner of my eye and ran over, "Ohh! The Eau de Toilette!" I became school-girl giddy at the opportunity to try this one, but sadly I had dozens of Creeds all up and down my forearms.. So, I only got to smell it on the card.

First, so you know where my perspective is coming from - Black Orchid EDP is probably my absolute favorite. Though, admittedly, it's a once in a while, special occasion kind of fragrance. (It's more of a secret weapon!) Black Orchid gives you that just-fallen-hard-in-love stomach ache that sends your head swirling in a way you feel like you can't control. But wait a sec, I'm here to comment on the Eau de Toilette!

The EDT smells, to me, almost exactly like the Parfum, just without that swirly, weak-in-the-knees witchcraft element. Oh, it's still plenty sly, seductive, and likewise gives you that tingly sensation after smelling it, but overall it's much more concise, approachable, and makes less of a fuss about itself. If you like Black Orchid, but don't feel up to making the statement it requires, EDT would be the perfect fit. It's a bit softer, with a little less smoke and a little more fruit, and altogether less polarizing. It's also more of a feminine take on Black Orchid, whereas the EDP seems rather unisex to me.

All in all, if you dig the EDP, you'll almost certainly dig the EDT. They're both otherworldly lovely and unique.

More subtle and masculine than the EdP. Still unisex, still great performance. Not so overpowering. Dark florals. Very unique.
