REALISTIC FIG, UNREALISTIC PRICE
It’s a very realistic, fresh green fig scent. It opens milky and vegetal, almost lactonic, but not sweet at all. There is nothing dirty, skanky, or truly “erotic” happening here, unless your idea of erotica is sitting on the grass in a fig orchard, enjoying fresh air. As it dries down, it turns creamier, and the fruity, berry-like undertones start to peek out quietly.

What I really like is the muted creaminess and the realism. This smells like an actual fig, not coconutty, not jammy, not overripe, and not too grassy either. Just a clean, green fig, captured very accurately. On my skin, it became especially nice and creamy, with slightly sweet-tart fruity notes coming out later. On the blotter, it stayed true to the opening the whole time: fresh, green, almost cucumber-like fig. So I think this is skin-chemistry dependent, since it smelled so different on skin versus blotter.

It reminds me of Womanity Eau de Parfum, but imagine someone carefully removed the ocean and marine notes and left you alone with just the fig. I like it, I really do, but let’s talk about the price. The largest bottle is around $1,400 and… absolutely not. This is a very simple, very one-note fig fragrance.

In short, it’s a stunningly realistic fig, but not complex enough to justify that price tag.

Very good, but I still love Lost Cherry the most!
Went to try this at Sephora. Smelled good on both of us to start, although it faded pretty fast on hubby. I spritzed a lot, because I like to really smell something when I'm evaluating it. The heart was a lovely floral. The googled notes say ylang ylang, which was surprising as I ususally don't like that. The dry down was even more surprising because it didn't match the published description at all. I kept getting hints of what we guessed was the tobacco from Tobacco Vanille, dirt of that ashtray/dirty asphalt thing, a bit spicy, but mostly a fresh, melony scent (maybe that's the fig or fig leaf??) that reminded hubby of New West, and to me smelled exactly like Turquatic. This all smelled good, and hubby thought he might even be able to layer it with Tobacco Vanille or Ombre Leather. But I have a big bottle of Turquatic, so sadly I can't justify buying this right now.
...
I spritzed Lost Cherry on the other wrist. I still love it, and hubby thinks of the two in a side by side comparison, they are both "me," but Lost Cherry was best.

Green fig for everyday wear
I had been looking forward to Figue Érotique for a long time.
Of course, Tom Ford's reputation precedes, and the first reviews and statements painted a familiar picture.

Then the fragrance arrived. Simple packaging, familiar bottle—so far, so average. Then the first spray.

As a fig lover, I am pleasantly surprised. It is a green fig that I have never smelled before, complemented by a sweetness familiar from caipirinha – brown sugar. Slightly synthetic, slightly hazy, the fragrance lingers in the air. In gentle waves, the sillage, which is slightly above average for Tom Ford, makes its way through the room. In any case, it's a successful fragrance, and I like it. I think it will also sell well, but it won't knock Lost Cherry off its throne – with which it is often compared.

However, it's clear that the price is too high. €355 for 50ml is simply too much. A noble, not too experimental fig that unfortunately not everyone will be able to afford.

Big fat like!!
Would buy if it weren't for the absurd price tag, someone figure out a dupe stat! Smells like taking a bite of a juicy fig. It has this ripe sweetness that I haven't felt in the other (very few) fig scents I've tried, which have been more green and focused on the fig leaf. I would say this is sophisticated sexy.

'Those who talk the most about it do the least.'
was said in my youth, and I’ll just claim that it’s still true. And (too) much talk unfortunately still comes from Tom Ford, which I find regrettable for several reasons. After - both in English and in its translation - linguistically questionable original finds like Lost Cherry, Rose Prick, and Vanilla Sex, I actually thought that the Ford house would finally be done with risqué double entendres (especially since something quite acceptable like Black Lacquer or more recently Oud Voyager was being offered at the same time). Wrongly thought. That now, of all things, the fig accord, which I personally don’t find very easy, has been given a particularly lamentably clumsy name does not help either.

I look for and appreciate, in addition to the scent itself, the underlying concept of perfumes - hopefully it has one. So not just how it is crafted, but also how it is academically thought out and implemented. And 'Figue Érotique' has the depth and maturity of a group of drunken teenage boys who are lewdly licking a halved fig. And then - muhaha! - sticking their fingers in. The subtlety of a truck driver magazine from the 90s, whose title reveals: 'Secret Sex Tips from Uninhibited Hairdressers!'. A scent concept that reminds me more of Bruno Banani (sorry, Bruno - I don’t know any of your fragrances, I’m sure they are great!) than of one that can stand alongside truly sensual classics like Santal Blush or Noir de Noir.

Tom Ford's fig is made quite 'okay-ish' - if you like sweet, fruity, and fig. I almost hoped to hate it more, but instead I have almost forgotten the scent itself. This may partly be due to its en passant test at an airport, but it also shows how little it sticks with me. From the idea of 'erotic fig', one could have boldly done something with the quote of skin and sweat and bodily juices - instead of just being a bit bitter and a bit green and then very sweet for a long time - even if Muscovado sugar sounds a bit fancier. But that would probably have been too much sex for the prudish average American, who should ideally buy Figue Érotique before New Year’s Eve.

Conclusion: just talk less about it, Tom. Do more!

Bright green fig; vetiver+ylang-ylang stand out. Medium-sweet. Dries down creamier than initial spray. Sophisticated, versatile, beautiful.

bright opening followed by ylang ylang and creamy fig. The mix of creamy and floral notes gives it almost a tropical feel that i really love

I’m certain it’s now an art form to charge top dollar for what smells like shower gel. The Balenciaga trash bag of fragrance. I applaud.

It is nice -- green, somewhat sharp and citrusy. Not mind blowing.
