Ambre Solaire
I always choose one new fragrance to add to my Summer Wardrobe and I chose this one this year. Now this reminds me of sun tan oil I used to wear in Spain in the 90's. That's fine by me because I love the smell. This is along the lines of Soleil Blanc which I also like but surprisingly this performs rather well. It's close to the body not a massive projector but has lasted for about 8 hours on me today. It doesn't break any barriers but it is nice. Over priced? 100%. But all of the Private Blends are and its to be expected.

Sweet, spicy, fresh, resinous
First wearing of the latest release from the Tom Ford Private Blend collection, Soleil Brulant, which follows Soleil Blanc, Eau de Soleil Blanc, and Soleil Neige as another offering using the “sun” name. While Soleil Blanc conjured a beachy, sun tan lotion vibe and Soleil Neige was inspired by fresh, sparkling snow, Soleil Brulant seems to loosely translate “burning sun,” and there’s certainly something bolder about it that Blanc or Neige before it.

Upon initial spray, it smells of resins and sunflowers, a sort of semi-sweet, semi-floral, fairly dense concoction, and seeing the note breakdown, it sort of makes sense: orange flower, honey, pepper, and other resins. It’s vivacious and slightly spicy while not being fresh per se, but the mix of spicy, sweet, and resinous elements, all while not being too heavy, is very interesting.

It’s priced in the higher echelon of the Tom Ford Private Blend, currently $350 for 50ml, and is available directly from the Tom Ford website as well as department stores like Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, and Macy’s.

Overall it seems to perform well but I’m not so amazed but it that I feel the inclination to buy a bottle, but perhaps just a larger decant to enjoy sometimes. Still, I could this being a major hit with many, as it sorts of works at the intersection of an amber and a fresh spicy men’s fragrance, all while coming off pretty unisex, semi-sweet, and versatile.

Spicy soup...
Tom Ford, the brand that launches perfumes faster than we have time to chronicle them...
A real collection !!!!
A brand that, historically, release perfumes like a baker takes breads out of the oven.
Okay, let's get straight into the heart of the matter as usual.
I had already been somewhat disappointed by the latest creations of the sumptuous, wonderful, iconic and cult Private Blend collection.
Bitter Peach and its super sweet scents of peach candy...
Tubéreuse Nue and its Ylang Ylang/Monoï imprint undeniably reminding me of a shower gel from Yves Rocher...
And now, here we go again with this Soleil Brûlant.
Finally... Soleil Brûlant only "burning" in the name.
This new 2021 scent gave me the impression of sniffing spicy vegetable soup...
Rather interesting on paper, the olfactory pyramid is described as containing pink pepper, bergamot, tangerine, honey, resin, amber, vetiver, leather, etc etc...
My first impression was quite... Spicy.
Pink pepper in the lead, maybe a little too much...
As for the bergamot, tangerine, honey and amber, i only detect a tiny ounce of tangerine in the background, and when i say in the background, it's really well stashed.
For the rest, it's pretty boring...
It stays spicy for a while.
To once again give you a realistic idea of Soleil Brûlant, imagine a mix of cloves, turmeric and celery. Yea Yea !!
Strange you say to me for a fragrance containing as only spice, pink pepper...
To give you even more the olfactory idea of the fragrance, think of this soup on a winter evening and these vegetables that you have previously cut and that you are about to lock up in your pressure cooker to make it boil it all.
Add a big and nice pinch of ground clove, a cup of turmeric, 20 stalks of celery at least, a light, i mean light drop of tangerine essential oil, sprinkle the whole thing with a little leather coupled with vetiver, and you will get more or less the recipe of that Soleil Brûlant.
The positive point is all the same a beautiful drying, more suited to summer than winter, because it must be remembered, in my humble opinion, Soleil Brûlant is NOT a summer scent. (Or else only outdoors)
Unless you like to smell the spices by 104°...
In terms of longevity and sillage, it's... Average to moderate.
So i ask myself the following question:
Of TOM FORD's latest creations, this one is unfinished, incomplete, disappointing for a collection like Private Blend and its legendary fragrances.
The bottle, as shiny as a gold bar, would be worth its exorbitant price on its own.
As for the content, that will be up to you.
On the other hand, lovers of called "solar" perfumes will be delighted.
Soleil Brûlant remains a scent that is difficult to describe, but from the first sniffs, it will be enough for you to form an opinion.
I know almost all of the Private Blend in its entirety, and apart from a few fragrances like TF London (the only one that really makes me sick because it's too spicy and smelling of cat piss), Vanille Fatale (one more too sickening and heady) ), Soleil Brûlant and its "vegetable soup" side, the entire Private Blend is class embodied in all its splendor.
So, Soleil Brûlant is therefore not a fragrance that will proudly stand in my collection.
Very sincerely, i think that TF is moving away little by little, and more and more, from its original creations which made its success.
The sumptuous and iconic creations of Noir de Noir, Oud Minérale, Oud Wood, Tobacco Vanille, Plum Japonais, Shanghai Lily, Vert d'Encens to name just a few of them, in comparison with this Soleil Brûlant, we are at light years...
It remains to be seen whether the next creations will be in the continuity of those of 2020/2021...
Too sweet, too much this, too much that, i think it will be a good future debate.
So please, Uncle Tom, a return to the origins will be necessary.
Conclusion: It's up to you, but for almost $300, that's expensive for a bunch of vegetables...
For the skeptics, NO, Soleil Brûlant has NOTHING to do with Soleil Blanc, even less with Eau de Soleil Blanc, and nothing at all with Soleil Neige.
For fans fanatics of TF fragrances of which i am a part, and more particularly of the Private Blend, try it.
For me, it's a No.
For those in need of vitamins, will you take a bowl of soup?

Screaming spices, leather and woods with subtle florals
Note to myself: double-check the notes on Parfumo before assuming I've picked an innocent scent to try on.

So... I'm now trying the three Tom Ford travel size set I picked up at Winners Homesense a few months ago. Thought I had stored them in alphabetical order so when I picked this one up, I thought I had Soleil Blanc Eau de Parfum in hand. A mistake was made here. Strong and overwhelming pink pepper assaulted my nose immediately. Pink pepper that smelled like spicy pencil shavings. Definitely not my thing. Like FAR from it. Then, there's the animalic leather that also came up. Within the first few seconds, I knew it was a no-go to me. I'm just not someone who loves spicy and leathery fragrances and the opening was an in-your-face kind of moment that definitely did not change my mind about my taste in leather fragrances. The beginning was also way too masculine-leaning.

After about 30 minutes, the strong peppery smell subsides a little bit, giving way to the powdery orange blossom accompanied by a subtle, faint, dark and sweet note (probably from the black honey). Smells almost like charred leather with a hint of spices and florals. Still not my kind of vibe. The drydown is a bit less "screaming" and a little more palatable. It smells like the sun-warmed leather interior of a brand new luxury car where a man's spicy cologne and a woman's floral perfume still linger in the air. Moves towards a warm, leathery, woody and resinous accord. Settles into a masculine fragrance. In the heart of the afternoon, when the smell was less pungent, I could smell a warm, ambery, almost vanillic accord with leather in the background, quite reminiscent of "Vanilla Royale Sugar Patchouli | Kayali".

This is LOUD. The beginning is... something. The ride is both horrifying and intriguing. All in all, it's definitely not something I want in my collection (got rid of the travel size after the first few minutes of trying the perfume). This fragrance hasn't changed my mind about scents that feature heavy doses of leather, woods and spices. This trio will always lean masculine to me. As for this perfume specifically, I would never want a bottle in my collection. Not for the faint of heart.

The ring of fire.
«Love is a burning thing
And it makes a fiery ring
Bound by wild desire
I fell into a ring of fire»

Benzoin: thank you for existing.
for me you are a guarantee, and here you make yourself heard and make this tuberose different, warm, fiery.

I bought it in the middle of July, as a blind buy because all the fragrances that have the sun in their name
deserve to be in my collection.
I was reckless because it's not a perfume that everyone can like but it worked for me.
It is a tuberose that dares, which goes beyond the nocturnal tuberose, beyond the carnal tuberose, beyond the green tuberose. This is fiery and crackles on you thanks to the amber and benzoin.

extremely feminine and alluring.

the sandal gives a perfect sillage that stays on for hours and hours.

high performance

Suntan lotion an its best. Summer, sea, sand, and this fragrance seems inseparable. Nothing groundbreaking but very pleasant.

Smells like an ambery sun creme. Very flat and not the way we got to know the private blends of TF. Since FF they are going down hill.
