Colonia canella
tested last weekend at the spring store in Lyon Bellecour.

the warmth and numerous comments from perfume influencers on tiktok aroused my curiosity about this apparently incredible perfume.

so for my part I find it surprising, it is an atypical smell which seems to mix eau de cologne with cinnamon, although this is not present in the composition.

It is perhaps in relation to this feeling that some people find that he resembles Bvlgari man in black.

For my part I find him very different. the spicy side is less powerful and the cologne side more refreshing. rather a scent of late summer or early autumn for temperatures around 25 degrees.

mixed but slight male preponderance for those over 30.

adp offers us a unique fragrance that I have never felt to date in all the Cologne perfume tests (around a hundred).

However, the feeling is not strong enough for me to add it to my collection.

Number 3 it is! The best AdP for me from the Note di Colonia line - Oriental freshness paired with the AdP DNA
A young, peppery Arab prince visits Italy for the first time in summer... and falls in love with the culture... the short version of the scent.... Some of you may have already read my review of Note di Colonia II; unfortunately, that one was too ordinary for me and didn't justify the price level. With "Note di Colonia III | Acqua di Parma," however, AdP has really stepped up; why?

- The Note di Colonia III starts fresh with a blast of ginger and mandarin. Beautiful! The opening is also accompanied by a fresh note of incense, which combined with the slightly green vetiver smells simply genius; oriental and at the same time typically AdP (Italian, fresh!). The incense absolutely does not remind one of a dull church visit, nor is it particularly challenging; it is there and gives the freshness an oriental character, blending under the freshness! WOW!

- After that, the scent becomes slightly warmer and slightly sweet, but never loses that green, bitter freshness from the beginning. Simply genius.

- The longevity of Note di Colonia III is far better than that of Note di Colonia II; this is probably also due to the more performant ingredients like incense, tonka bean, and myrrh :)

Overall, a far better, more oriental scent that, for me, still isn't worth the money, but does come closer to justifying the high price tag!

To die for
The house of Acqua di Parma and its fragrances have always reminded me a bit of a student who is clever but not particularly ambitious - and imbued with the principle of 'maximum output with minimal input.' One who reliably hovers between a 2+ and 2- - without any outliers in either direction. This reflects a high level of consistency - which is good - but I have also missed the upward outliers, no matter how commendable Acqua Colonia remains as a timeless classic.

'To die for' - meltingly beautiful - I had never encountered such a fragrance from Acqua di Parma before, and when I tried Note di Colonia I and II - logically, you start with I, right? It was also on the far left - all the lights immediately settled back to 'somewhere between 2+ and 2-', and my attention was almost more captured by the very pretty bottles (unfortunately, there are only 150 ml bottles at 350 euros) than by their contents. But then came Note di Colonia III, and - what a wonderfully beautiful scent!

Its initial accord is already soothing and possesses a sweetness far beyond what is generally expected (and delivered) from Italian colognes - sensual and alluring, yet serious and without the slightest hint of coyness or triviality. This is the ginger that one might not immediately recognize as such, yet its sweet spiciness gives Note di Colonia III an exciting delicacy and refinement. Other - both additional and different - shades of softness emerge - brittle, yet no less delicious, highly elegant and balanced, jasmine and tonka pleasantly restrained, the resins without any temple or medicinal connotation - never too smoky, never too sweet. And it is, despite its presence, the lack of loudness and self-assertion that makes this fragrance - whose ingredients read quite ordinarily - so unusual and so delightful.

Conclusion: due to its (temporally and spatially) limited availability, I doubt this fragrance will achieve immortality or even modest prominence. Nevertheless - meltingly beautiful!

Oriental Waters
Finally…
You have no idea how long I searched for these Note di Colonia fragrances since I first saw them here on Parfumo. That was back in the summer… they immediately went onto my watchlist because I really like Acqua di Parma.

And somehow I thought the whole time that these fragrances were fresh summer scents, which might be due to the wonderful Blu Mediterraneo collection that I like to spray on myself from time to time in the summer. Okay, Note di Colonia I does give a fresher impression because of its orange notes, but I still need to test that properly.

But I’ll start with Colonia III first,… and please don’t ask why I’m starting with No. III… because I’m just strange… :D

The scent:
The scent starts off sweet and fruity, as it smells of very nice mandarins. However, this makes the fragrance neither zesty nor particularly fresh, as it then somehow becomes oriental and spicy with a sweet touch. You can smell a bit of herbal ginger, but somehow more of the labdanum, which I think must be responsible for the spicy notes. After that, it briefly seemed to me as if I were smelling leather, but that impression quickly faded.
Moreover, you can smell resinous smoky scents, which I generally refer to as incense, as I can’t really distinguish well between incense and myrrh. Towards the base, there’s also the wonderful, sweet, and slightly powdery tonka bean, which fits very well with the rest. Additionally, you can still smell the mandarins, but only very faintly.
By the way, I couldn’t pick out vetiver at all, and the scent isn’t really earthy for me either. On paper, the scent seemed a bit spicier to me, but maybe it varies a bit from skin to skin as is often the case…

The sillage and longevity:
Hmm yes, the scent is not weak. While it’s not a sillage bomb, you can smell it on someone for a while.
The longevity is quite good, as I could still smell the fragrance on my arm even after 12 hours, although of course, it was very faint by then.

The bottle:
The bottle is rectangular and tall and has a thick glass bottom. It is filled with yellowish liquid. The neck of the bottle is cylindrical, and around it is a label showing the brand name as well as the logo. The label on the front of the bottle displays the name and also the brand and logo of the fragrance. It is topped with a cap that resembles an umbrella.
The bottle vaguely resembles some Hermès bottles.

Yes! The scent has something. It starts with wonderful mandarins and then becomes spicier, warmer, more oriental and autumnal, while not being too heavy, so it could also be worn on warmer (but not really hot) days.

It also has something classic or mature about it, although that doesn’t mean that the scent is only for older gentlemen. No, it is absolutely excellent and fits well for both daily wear and going out, even though it could have handled a bit more sillage for that.

The only real downside of the fragrance is the really high price of about 350 euros, which is too high for me now. If it cost as much as the “normal” Parmas, it would definitely have been in the realm of acquisition for me (uh… maybe the wording was a bit unfortunate there? :D).

Nevertheless, take a look at it, and also the other Notes, I really liked them all.

Good versatile and likable fragrance. Get a spicebomb vibe but softer and more subtile. Enjoying the smell, but nothing ground breaking

It has something special, smells of ancient times, Egypt, Cleopatra. It perfectly balances between smoky and sweet!

Could I please have the mandarin ginger top note on its own, without Mrs. Tonka flowery rubbing it in with green myrrh?

Extraordinarily beautiful. Frankincense is elegantly intertwined with bitter, woody, and fruity notes.
Labdanum shimmers darkly & is erotic.

Short and sweet. One of the best I've tested so far. If it's going to be expensive, let it be this way. Grace and value for money. Respect!

Short citrus start, then the spices and smoke come in, rounded off in the dry down with soft tonka, but always SPICY!!! Great!!! :-)
