Cor Gentile V Canto 2015

As my introduction to the world of this extremely luxurious & chic new Italian brand, there could hardly have been a better fragrance than "Cor Gentile". A gentle, velvety & passionately romantic rose scent that perfectly matches the impressive, noble velvet bottles of the perfume line. It is not my new rose scent No. 1 or a revolution on the most famous of all flowers, yet it has something special. Emotionlessly reduced to just a unisex rose, flanked by pepper at the front & vanilla at the back. But it’s not that simple again.

"Cor Gentile" is a cautious romantic, a sexy lover & a date with manners. An excellent date fragrance. A hint of incense lingers in the air, like a mix of an elegant Italian & an ancient monastery. Whether one still needs a rose is debatable. Is it an erotic-cool play of contrasts for a couple still passionate after years? Absolutely! A higher rating is only prevented by its collapse at the end, into a nice but hardly meaningful wafting vanilla that has little of the initial smoke, shine & sharpness.

Bottle: no less a velvety splendor than the fragrance.
Sillage: not as dominant as one might initially assess the rose.
Longevity: here it’s rather good - 7 hours easy.

Conclusion: Roses that bark do not bite - perfect date scent for both genders. A sensual rose with decorum.

Another V Canto fragrance. So far, I found most of them nice but still unremarkable. Unfortunately, this one is no different, but the warm and gentle base might appeal to some, making a test worthwhile.

The scent:
The fragrance starts with a creamy rose scent, perhaps with a hint of juniper berry, but then everything is initially overshadowed by black pepper (slightly prickly for a moment). However, the pepper doesn't last long and gradually recedes into the background, while the roses rise again, along with other floral scents that are not clearly definable (for me). Then the scent appears slightly synthetic and thus somewhat cheaper, but still nice.
In the base, you can smell a hint of patchouli and vanilla, along with light, woody notes. The base is generally warm and even becomes a bit creamier and softer.

Longevity and sillage:
The longevity is okay, lasting about six to eight hours, after which it is only very faintly present.
Aside from the short-lived strong pepper, the sillage is below average and somehow fades quickly, even though it doesn't become close to the skin.

The bottle:
The dark blue bottle has a body-like shape and features a metallic plaque on the front displaying the name and brand. The cap is silver and trapezoidal in shape. Everything is very nicely done.

This V Canto also didn't convince me much. Too banal, too synthetic, too boring, but not necessarily bad for that reason.
Of course, it could be that some still like it, as the base is warm and creamier and smells quite okay, but for me, it just wasn't all that spectacular.

Cor Gentile could be used as an all-rounder, perhaps even suitable for going out, although I find it too weak for that later on. But as a feel-good scent, it works better, especially once the initial pepper has settled.

The fragrance is unisex and can therefore be used by everyone.
