Absinth, Absinth, a heavenly child
I became aware of Swiss Unlimited at a sales stand in a pedestrian passage in Frankfurt, where small sample bottles were being promoted. Following that, I researched where I could possibly get this interesting scent. I eventually purchased the fragrance at the Dotzert weapon shop in Frankfurt, which offers all Victorinox fragrances. Those who are into absinthe and looking for a long-lasting scent will get their money's worth with Swiss Unlimited, as the opening is very strongly absinthe-heavy, with the mint lingering in the background and unable to compete with the Genepi. The heart of the fragrance is also full of wormwood and combined with a wonderful lavender note. The scent is absolutely powerful for an Eau de Toilette, captivating and characterful, so it should be used sparingly. Two sprays are more than enough, as it clings well to the skin. The fir base is spicy, resinous, and somehow fresh, giving you the feeling of being in the mountainous nature. A great scent for individualists who love nature and enjoy their freedom.

Shower Gel
What should be in there?! Absinthe?! I wasn't that blue to not remember. Juniper?! Always goes into the roast, grows on bushes around here. Anyone living on the Swabian Jura knows how it smells - different. And wood and fir? No, definitely not, none of that. In our own forest, the trees smell different anyway. Instead: Axe. Shower gel in its purest form. The forest smells different, certainly also in Switzerland. Except maybe ... "who invented it?" ... no, probably not. Besides, it gives me a headache. Maybe it's the absinthe that's supposed to be in there *thinking*.

Actually, I wanted to gift it to my husband for Christmas. He is a big fan of the Victorinox brand. So I ordered a sample in Switzerland (mini sample - just enough for a test. One should be able to test more often, right, a warm greeting to the Victorinox house in Switzerland). As they say, trying makes one wise, and so I still have enough time to look for another Christmas gift.

The pocket knives are certainly more successful... the 10% goes to the original, well-designed bottle. That way, you can be sure you didn't accidentally grab the AXE bottle in the early morning half-sleep.

So really *outraged look*!

Give Me Rubber!
A few months ago, I saw a poster on some billboards in Düsseldorf featuring a large Victorinox bottle, which confused me a bit. The advertisement wanted to point out that there is now a new large Victorinox flagship store on Königsallee. Victorinox as a brand for Swiss army knives still rings a bell for me. And I have also noted that they now produce bags and suitcases. But Victorinox perfumes??? And then in such a crazy bottle??? I had to get to the bottom of this, as I had never seen Swiss Unlimited by Victorinox Swiss Army at Douglas or similar stores, let alone been able to smell it.

So off to the fancy pocket knife shop, and lo and behold, Victorinox offers not only knives and bags but also timepieces, meaning watches, clothing, and of course perfumes. It turns out that Swiss Unlimited is not the only fragrance from the brand. There are even four more lines. In any case, I specifically approached the red bottle with the red rubberized coating, as that is the only one I am interested in right now.

And there it is, the scent gets to the point relatively quickly. Well, if I hadn't already known beforehand that there is absinthe and juniper in it, I would have probably guessed melon or something like that (although melons and Switzerland don't necessarily go together fruit-wise). In any case, this clean fruity, green spicy mix with a very fine sweet note actually appeals to me. Does Switzerland smell like this? I remember it differently, but it fits. The theme of forest, lake, air, and mountains has certainly been excellently interpreted.

From outside the forest I come here...
..I must tell you: it smells quite nice.
All everywhere on the treetops
I saw juniper and absinthe sparkling.
And from behind the wooden gate
something indefinably green peered out with big eyes.
And as I wandered through the dark firs
a bit of moss jumped out at me too.

And the moral of this scent:
Swiss Unlimited offers pleasantly green, vigorous air.
However, one searches in vain for something special,
but it has certainly been much worse before. ;o)

Very freely based on Theodor Storm

I love beautiful Switzerland.
You invented Ricola.
You have the best watch movements.
The best pocket knives.
But perfumes? No, no.
