Forest scent
It's like being in a rain forest and smell the air in the morning before sunrise, where the air is damp and soil is moist.
If you like d'squared he wood collection, then you will like this one.

A Loyal Companion
For my twelfth birthday, my father gave me a genuine Swiss Army knife. Red, not much frills, two blades, bottle and can opener, corkscrew, awl, tweezers, done! I carried it in my pocket every day until graduation, I never lost it, and it was never taken away from me by teachers. Until after 9/11 and its unspeakable security regulations, it remained my loyal daily companion through all of life's situations. Then, as an airliner, I could no longer take it through the daily security checks, and the good Victorinox ended up in the nightstand drawer. Until a green glow in a perfumery reminded me of it again...

The bottle is a round, slender flask in dark green that truly shines when the light shines through. The base and cap made of light wood reflect the theme of the forest. The name and logo of Victorinox stand proudly, but not ostentatiously, for its origin. The box echoes the color and design of the bottle 1:1. Overall, a clear, self-assured statement.

The scent delivers exactly what one would expect from a green fragrance in such a bottle. The lemon bursts forth with a restrained freshness, but fortunately reminds one of the Amalfi Coast rather than toilet cleaner. Quickly, spicy notes of nutmeg, juniper, and sage follow and support the fresh accord. The violet adds a touch of sweetness, but remains in the background. The woods and moss then provide a solid base on which these scent notes persist throughout the day. Once all the notes come to the fore, it reminds me of a lush pine forest just after a fresh spring shower - fresh, woody, mossy, spicy, green.

Citrus accords often ignite quickly and disappear just as fast. Here, all the scent accords remained equal and balanced throughout the entire day; even after 8-10 hours, the scent is still pleasantly noticeable to me. And all of this without the sillage initially being in any way overpowering or harsh.

I have taken my pocket knife out again, didn't even have to oil it, and I carry it in my pocket on weekends once more. Because a loyal companion is always useful, just like this fragrance.

A Tree of a Fragrance
No matter how often Victorinoux has disappointed me, I was always warned not to write off Forest, as it is by far the best perfume of the brand. And since I trust the Parfumos, I gave the Swiss forest a real chance today.

Swiss Army Forest starts strong, bitter & citrus-woody. A woody-earthy scent, actually exactly what one hopes for with the name & presentation. A mix of Encre Noir & Cacharell Pour L'Homme. Despite the always noticeable citrus, soapy & even fruity notes (juniper berries), the scent is clearly shady, thoroughly green & very masculine. Rarely have I stood in a clearer forest in my mind's eye. At times, it reminded me of a much greener Cool Water. Truly a quirky blend & a masculine forest diva. I seem to sniff a lot of moss, woods, even rooty vetiver. However, I don't particularly like some of the fragrance notes (soapy musk, piercing sage), which means the scent doesn't quite resonate with me. Nevertheless, it is truly the most impressive Victorinoux so far!

Bottle: very fitting to the theme & stylish as well.
Sillage: strong at the beginning, then a solid companion.
Longevity: lasts easily for 6 hours.

Conclusion: not one hundred percent my taste, but at least quirky, special & of impeccable quality! Anyone who likes woody-mossy scents should not miss Swiss Army Forest!

Woodruff without a Trade Certificate
Hm, I don't know what exactly I was thinking, but after rummaging (haha) through my collection, the thought occurred to me that I'm missing a woody scent. Not one to collect compliments or impress ladies, but one just for me. A fragrance that brings the earthy and fresh essence of nature into my urban apartment. A scent that could even remind me a bit of Allgäu pine or a fir needle bath! ;-)

"Swiss Army Forest" (SAF) was supposed to be this fragrance... SUPPOSED TO BE! Basically, I do see the theme of the forest represented here (as the ingredients of this EDT suggest), but I absolutely miss the power of nature. I smell nothing ethereal, nothing camphor-like, nothing to "inhale," just a subtle juniper note in front of a distant fir thicket.

I would still like to highlight positively that the wood department at the hardware store was obviously closed during the creation of SAF. What came out, however, is just a mediocre little forest or a mild breeze. From the two highly renowned perfumers, whose names were decisive for my purchase, I would have expected a bolder and more vigorous approach. As it stands, SAF is nothing more than a rather inconsequential "forest and meadow scent."

And who invented it? The Swiss!
A wow effect that I really didn't see coming, despite the nose behind Versace The Dreamer. Admittedly, I only got the fragrance samples through Dimidanger's tip (thank you), which allowed me to evaluate four scents that I think are surprisingly good. There was Classic, which I liked well, and Swiss Unlimited, which came across much better than Classic did, Victoria, and finally Forest.
What scent was hidden behind it, I could only guess with prejudice; in short, grandpa scent, as my wife likes to say.

When I saw the small fragrance samples attached to the postcards, similar to those on GQ pages, with a peelable film in a small window, I told myself, Forest can wait.
As so often, the best came last!!

Forest started so unpredictably delicious that while sampling at my favorite online perfumery, I was actively looking for Forest.

The opening is, how could it be better, thanks to lemon and juniper, so extraordinarily un-grandpa-like that all initial prejudices disappeared. Surely, more attractive notes followed, such as cypress, violet leaf, cedar, and even moss felt fresh rather than musty; nevertheless, the lemon in the background remains fresh and neutralizes the sharp green. In the later emphasized moss and pine scent, which tickles the nose like freshly chopped wood, the delicious lemon only weakly follows in the drydown, along with a subtle violet leaf note. After an hour, however, Forest indeed remains as if one had deeply breathed in and out in the middle of the forest; I have to actively search for the lemon, I am smitten, I want to go out, into the woods, and breathe, sniff.

The longevity of these types of samples is by no means the same as when you spray from the bottle onto your skin; however, it is still strong and present after hours.

The sillage was not the world with the little that the felt provided, but I can well imagine that sprayed from the bottle, it leaves a significantly larger trail than it did for me.

The bottle is, and even I cannot deny this, a matter of taste; I like it in exactly this color, this shape, and the wood looks great, 75% from me.

Let it be said, even if a Gucci or Rabanne brings envious glances to your shelves, don't forget that better-smelling gentlemen might have this bottle at home.

Herbs & conifers, soapy & herbal, metallic freshness on warm musk fluff, abstract fruit. Ultimately a men's shower gel. Good for that.

After about an hour, the scent reminds me of "Cipresso di Tosacana". Wonderful! Cedar, cypress, pine ...

Good and proven idea, but not enough forest, plus it smells quite synthetic. Swiss mountain forest should smell clearer and more distinct.
