Ivy up a tree
Anyone familiar with the ivy plant (Hedera) knows it creeps up trees and other structures, until it has fully covered its surface with its leaves. This is exactly what you get with Klubwasser. An overwhelming sensation of photorealistic ivy, like being fully submerged in this fragrant evergreen. This stage feels particularly cold and green, but that is just temporary. Temperature will go up and colors will change.
It takes a while, but slowly the woody notes emerge; to begin with angelica. At this point there is a slight similarity with French Lover. The main difference is that Klubwasser chose a massive trunk of guaiac woods instead of a more classical vetiver-based structure. Meanwhile the scent has lost most of its cold green character and is now becoming a bit easier to like. Woodsy with a mildly warm glow of tree resin in the back.
This progression from cold greens to warmer woods is rather pleasant. It turns a photorealistic but kind of dull ivy impression into a full-blown perfume. Another Buxton/Wiener creation that is certainly worth a try.
