Elevated
With a beautiful cologne, Wiener Blut knows how to enchant us for a few hours. Florentiner has a gentle nature; fruity, bright, and playful are attributes that come to mind for this little work of art.
At first, we are transported into citrus spheres, fine and transparent in the first minutes. The subsequent transition to a bit more sharpness gives Florentiner more character. The fragrance takes its time for this, and to my delight, the allspice always plays its qualities close to the skin. It is never overwhelming, just finely grated. It’s lovely that our companion retains its graceful nature during this phase.
In the dry down, I perceive neroli. Usually, this component overwhelms me quickly, but in this case, it has been dosed finely, creating a warm, slightly Mediterranean aura. Airy and elevated, the fragrance releases me back into everyday life, and I look forward to our reunion.

No Confection!
What do you think of when you hear the title "Florentiner"? The residents of the city of Florence? The confection-like, caramel-flavored pastry made from almonds/nuts (often mixed with dried fruits and coated in chocolate)? Or perhaps spinach dishes offered in cafeterias with the addition "Florentine style"? The latter makes me shudder a bit... but it was indeed a reality during my student days in the late 80s.

For me, it would most likely be the thought of confection. There are quite a few perfumes that smell like sweet almond pastries and/or caramel, but "Florentiner" definitely does not belong to that category. The perfume has nothing gourmand about it. It is citrusy-fresh and slightly herbal-bitter, but without coming across as bitter. The association with Florence fits better, as it evokes a Tuscan landscape with cypress trees, citrus trees, rosemary, and other herbs. In this way, "Florentiner" strongly reminds me of the citrus perfumes by Annick Goutal, which also combine exactly these scent notes. Those who enjoy these should definitely give this one a try.
I don't think my third association, with spinach, is too far-fetched either, as "Florentiner" does have a slightly herbal-green quality as well.

The last sunny late summer days are apparently over for this year - but this perfume would have fit perfectly!

.. come wafting in...an elegantly curved dressing table made of light birch wood, crystal bowls for jewelry and an elegant folding mirror that fascinated me as a little girl.
it smelled of 4711 and of a fine fresh soap, of grandmother's silky hair in the brush and a little of belle époque...when it was summer, the gentle breath of the wild roses wafted in....
this is how "florentiner" smells.
of freshness and beauty that demands discipline. of a secret affection for sparkling jewelry,
of grandmother's well-groomed hands that always slightly spread the little finger.....

Very classic. Green notes, delicate floral tones, patch-wood base. A fine all-rounder if you like this direction.

If there is such a thing, then this is a heavy version of classic cologne: the idea of a dark version is inherently good!

Rather masculine, green-spicy, suitable for everyday use. Starts off zesty-citrusy. I’m sitting in Provence among lavender and rosemary bushes*

The vital, rich big cousin of the finer cologne: a bit more of everything. More citrus, more sunshine, more bitter freshness. Cool!

This scent shines brightly. It tingles, sparkles, and refreshes. It will definitely be great to wear in hot temperatures.
