Rosenseifen-Splash
I was lucky enough to snag 4 full bunker bottles of this scent on eBay. I gave one to a friend who is into perfumes, one to my mother, I’m keeping one, and one is in the souk. ;)

Unlike my predecessor, I don’t think a reissue of Eglantine would sell well. It smells thoroughly vintage, but in terms of intensity, it’s more comparable to a body splash than a perfume. Light, simple, straightforward, and (unfortunately) quite fleeting.

Eglantine refers to the wild rose. So we have a soliflore here. The top note definitely includes aldehydes; you get that characteristic "vintage smell." The rose is light, airy, and very clean. As it develops, it increasingly reminds me of rose soap. I suspect there’s white musk in there. I also occasionally perceive a subtly scratchy oak moss, as Serafina mentioned.
After an hour, the scent progression is pretty much complete, but the rose soap lingers on the clothing for half the day.

I particularly love vintage scents, which is why I ADORE Eglantine. It has nothing at all in common with a contemporary perfume. Therefore, I would only recommend it to vintage fans and collectors. The scent is beautiful, delicate, and feminine. I associate it with a young girl with porcelain doll-like skin, in a pastel ruffled dress, in a blooming garden in May. Old-fashioned, a bit kitschy, but lovely.

Recommendation for anyone who likes to step a bit out of time.

the "common dog rose"
"Rosa Canina" - "common dog rose" or also hedge rose
This species of rose covers almost 90% of the wild rose population.
Those who walk through the world with open eyes see them again and again: these robust, dense rose bushes that grow unrestrained towards the light. Most of the time, they are allowed to do so unhindered.
With their simple, five-petaled, mostly pink flowers, they delight throughout the summer.
One should best avoid their maliciously sharp thorns, which sit so closely together.
In autumn, they then set their bright rose hips. "A little man stands in the woods ..."

In autumn, I dig up everything I find in terms of autumn fruits and put them in small bowls with soil.
Thus, I have a collection of rather peculiar plants on my balcony. Among them are two roses, grown from rose hips, robust and thorny, defying all adversities right in the middle of the big city.
Every spring, I am happy that they survived the winter.
Only they have steadfastly refused to bloom so far!

I have known for a long time that the oil of this wild rose is a wonderful care product, especially for not-so-young skin. I have applied the contents of many bottles and enjoyed this wonderfully, so naturally preserved scent and the smooth consistency of this oil.
It is something very fine, valuable, with which we can pamper ourselves.

I was able to convince myself of the healing effects of this wild rose oil.
One day, I managed to spill a full coffee filter over my left arm in the kitchen of our office floor! (Clumsiness sends its regards - it will come itself tomorrow!)
The shock and the annoyance over the mess, which also had to be cleaned up, prevailed at first.
The sleeve of my white twinset cardigan was soaked with coffee - there are truly nicer things!
First, my working student ran to the pharmacy; we were well stocked, but we had nothing for burns. Of course not!
How the hands of the poor young woman trembled as she applied the dressing: she was so afraid of hurting me even more!
I felt sorry for her, but I needed her help.
The burned area on my forearm was about the size of a palm!

The next day, I happened to read in the newly delivered book "Rose Scent and Flower Magic" by Ina Knobloch. Ms. Knobloch was a good acquaintance of my boss, and therefore I had already gotten to know this publication a bit beforehand and ordered it immediately upon its release.

Are there actually coincidences? Well, this time it must have been so.
I read that wild rose oil, the oil of Rosa Canina, can be wonderfully used for treating burns. Even the monks and wise women of the Middle Ages knew this.
Aha! Well, it couldn't hurt - I tried it out and carefully applied this beautiful oil.
Anyone who knows burn wounds knows that not only the burning pain, the heat in the wound, but also the pulling of the burned skin is quite terrible.
It is still unbelievable: shortly after applying the oil, the tension in the wound eased!
So I continued to treat with this wild rose oil: not even a scar has remained!
I can no longer find that spot on my arm!

And this so glorious, feminine bloom of this rose also generously exudes its wonderful scent: delicate and light, yet immensely present, albeit in a subtle way!
This magic that nature bestows was captured by Yves Rocher in his summer fragrance "Eglantine."
As a wise man, he probably refrained from all frills and relied solely on the pure wild rose scent here.
Perhaps he added just a tiny bit of freshness, a little wood. But surely not more!
Not the proud, noble rose queen delivers her scent here; no, the hedge rose in her simple rural beauty gets to be the main character!
And she enjoys it - just like we do!

It was a beautiful, delicate, smiling rose scent; not long-lasting, but tenderly enveloping, gently embracing!
The bottle matched those of the other very naturally preserved fragrances from this company.
"Chèvrefeuille" and "Mandarine" come to mind; I owned them back then - just like "Eglantine."

We loved these fragrances, which were uncomplicated, natural, and yet so feminine and delightful.
Many women still miss them today.
If Yves Rocher were to dare a reissue (according to the old recipes); it would be no surprise: these fragrances would be a hit!

Delicate Fragrance
As the name translates (Hedge Rose), it smelled intensely of delicate roses with a hint of freshness. Not sweet and cloyingly thick. Just like it smells when you walk along a hedge full of roses in early summer. I regretted it very much when the fragrance was discontinued. As far as I can remember, that was in the late 80s. Unfortunately, it was never reissued.

I also bought it all by myself at 13 in the YR shop without Mom. So wonderfully fresh & totally uncomplicated. And much nicer than Janine D.

Smells like rose soap. A very soapy scent. Not really my thing.

Apparently, I auctioned off an intact vintage. Subtle but beautiful, I suspect alongside the wild rose. A hint of oak moss. So, not sweet. Just lightly fresh.

The beautiful, almost honey-like scent of the dog rose has been captured here. Without the thick thorns, you can get really close. Pure nostalgia!
