Very helpful Review 12
of dark blue velvet cloaks and southern France
For a long time, I hesitated to write my first perfume review. Concerned that I might not capture the scent in all its facets and in its entirety, I kept making notes about the perfumes I tested and wore, yet I still shied away from a complete description. However, this morning, when I sprayed Flowerparty by Night again after some time, I knew this scent deserved to be illuminated more closely and honored with my first comment:

“I stand on the platform, waiting for the train that is supposed to take me to the city, which glitters enticingly on one side. On the other side, the last orange-red remnants of the colorful sunset are visible. Slowly, the night lays itself protectively, almost comfortingly, over everything. It unfurls its deep blue velvet cloak, inviting everyone to wrap themselves in it,” I wrote yesterday on my way home in my phone. The last days of September have begun, where the thermometer climbs to a pleasant 20 degrees during the day, but drops rapidly in the evening, so even this morning, outside the heating season, it is so cold that I am slightly shivering under the covers in my cozy suit and have no desire to get up. As my alarm chirps for what feels like the 10th time and my boyfriend's phone joins in with a Chinese gong, I venture into the chill. Unsure which scent best reflects my mood today.

Ready and made up, I stood somewhat perplexed in front of my perfume cabinet, searching for the right scent for the day, when my gaze fell upon the dark blue floral bottle of Flowerparty by Night. Instantly, the image of yesterday evening's scene came to mind, because that's exactly how this incredibly flattering scent feels: dark blue and velvety. Deep red, almost purple berries greet me (not quite as bright and light as those of the original version of Flowerparty), followed by a licorice-like sweetness, rounded off by velvety almonds. As it develops, the berries become increasingly muted and a creamy vanilla enters the scene. However, it is not a scent with a strong evolution; the warm, velvety-sweet character remains consistent from start to finish, with good longevity and sillage. Throughout the workday, I can still perceive it until the end of my shift. Contrary to its name, I hardly smell any flowers.

Whenever I wear it, I think back to a lovely time in early October 2014, when I attended a seminar in southern France, on the Côte d'Azur. Golden light meets earth warmed by the height of summer and a similarly warmed, calm Mediterranean Sea. A holiday resort designed in the style of an old French village, painted in sunflower yellow and juicy orange, with small houses, alleys, and bridges, souvenir shops, and an extremely delicate 3-course menu for lunch, as well as dinner. Yes, the French know how to live.
At this time of year, Flowerparty by Night blossoms most beautifully when summer is slowly cooling down, and the afternoons are still warm enough to enjoy life outdoors. In the evening, it makes a particularly good impression when something more substantial than Eau de Colognes is called for. I would even attribute seductive qualities to it, as this soft gourmand allows one to smell delectable without applying too much or being overly sweet.

And I only learned to appreciate its beauty at second glance: I ordered it out of sheer shopping desire. I had just ordered the original Summerparty online after testing it in-store, received the familiar promotional leaflets in my mailbox every month, and diligently studied them. One contained a scratch-off field for the by Night version, which I tested immediately and ordered 2 minutes later. However, these dry tests, as we perfume enthusiasts know, are not particularly representative. The entire sprightliness of the top note goes out the window, not to mention good longevity and scent progression.
When it arrived, the little blue floral bottle led a rather unspectacular existence in my closed wardrobe until I decided a few months later to take it with me on this business trip.

In short, there is a gem hidden at Yves Rocher that is worth discovering, even if it is not available in all stores; it is available online, highly affordable, and should not be missing from any gourmand and licorice lover's collection. I cherish my bottle, will ceremoniously dig it out every 9th month of the year, and disappear into some late summer night wrapped in its velvety blue cloak.

An Exciting Fragrance
"Flowerparty by Night" was a gift with a Yves Rocher order.
If I had read the fragrance notes beforehand, I might have hesitated to take a sniff. Almond and licorice? Yuck...
But the scent is worth it, the addition of "by night" fits perfectly, it smells mysteriously dark of flowers, soft, sweet, and a bit smoky.
Now that I know, I can also detect a bit of almond, but to reassure you: licorice does not come through. It really smells like a not-too-sweet floral blend and develops beautifully towards a bubble bath and then back to an evening scent. Overall pleasant. A feel-good fragrance for any season, I think.

Slumber Party with Sweets and Vanilla Ice Cream
Well, the name "Flowerparty by night" is somewhat inappropriate, as the scent has nothing to do with flowers at all.

Ingredients like almond, licorice, and vanilla suggest it, and they're absolutely right: it is sweet.

But not sweet like cotton candy, rather soft. Definitely due to the almond. It initially comes across as a bit woody, but it disappears quickly for me, leaving behind a sweet, warm hint that isn't overpowering. I find the scent quite okay, but whether it’s really suitable for a party night? For that, the sillage is simply too weak, and the longevity is rather mediocre as well.

The bottle is very pretty, but instead of the blue color, I would have preferred a candy pink :-D

Children's perfume?
After seeing the fragrance pyramid and comments about it, I had to test it again; why did I leave a scent with almonds behind? Now I remember: at first it smells raspberry-like, then a bit like darker berries, and then the vanilla comes through more and more. And that's it, this jam mixture is only made "more interesting" by something synthetic - maybe that's supposed to be the almond or licorice note. It's strange that I smell berries, even though none are listed. And then there's the floral cap without any floral content, just to complete the confusion... so the search for a good almond scent does not end at YR; that would have been too easy.

Licorice Confection
When it comes to licorice, opinions are divided: some love it, others hate it.
Sure, you can search long for the flowers in this Flowerparty version, but who cares?
I really like the vanilla almond licorice confection; it is cozy, gentle, and soft.
Sweet? Absolutely! But not excessively sweet, rather very balanced. And no worries: it won't make you feel sick, as long as you don't wear it in what feels like 98 degrees in the shade.
My better half can't stand licorice, yet really likes this scent on me. And overall, I received the most "you smell so good" compliments for this fragrance.
Most were surprised, as they didn't expect it from Yves Rocher. I should actually be richly rewarded by YR, as Flowerparty by Night was only purchased, at least in my immediate circle, because I showed up with it.

I think I can detect bitter almond with its metallic hints, but otherwise it's an undefinable vanilla-sweet floral bouquet.

Almond? Licorice? Vanilla? corresponds 0% to the scent pyramid, blind buy, floral something, could be anything, at least a sweet bottle.

At first, it was too strong for me, I had forgotten it in the back of the closet, but after 4(!) years I sniffed it again and wow...incredibly well matured.

Completely different from what the pyramid suggests! I smell more floral-fruity. Licorice? No, stronger with Lempicka! Or is my nose playing tricks on me?

I like "fruit" party during the day and I enjoy the night version. Elegant and delicious. Like a sweet treat in beautiful attire.

As soon as I sprayed it, I got the scent of Always pads in my nose... unfortunately, an association that just doesn't work for me. S+H very bad

The prettier of the two Flower Parties. But don’t be tempted to buy because of the fragrance pyramid. Super sweet, delicious floral scent.
