Sticky Rose
Another big nose, the same beautiful bottle, and this member of the Yves Rocher Secrets d'Essences series, ROSE ABSOLUE, strikes me as similar to TENDRE JASMIN in other respects as well. Here, too, I feel that there is a hard core of a high-quality perfume which has been mixed into the Yves Rocher house base, producing a perfume which intermittently reveals the scent of beautiful rose, but only in tiny wafts.

At one point during today's wearing, it occurred to me that this might be a small amount of The Different Company ROSE POIVREE diluted in the Yves Rocher house base. Since I don't really like ROSE POIVREE, that may not sound like a compliment, but it ends up being a more wearable perfume for me because the spices have been moderated by the base in this case.

Cinnamon is listed for ROSE ABSOLUE, not cumin (as I detect in ROSE POIVREE), but there also seems to be some source of piquancy--perhaps pink pepper? In any case, the blend is certainly nice enough, provided that one is friends with the Yves Rocher base. True niche rose perfume snobs will probably not like this at all. When I think about the difference between ROSE ABSOLUE and, say, Keiko Mecheri ATTAR DE ROSES or MOGADOR or Creed ROSES DE BULGARIE or Guerlain CHAMADE or NAHEMA or Ineke BRIAR ROSE, the Yves Rocher seems almost laughable.

Almost, but not quite, because ROSE ABSOLUE is A LOT better than most mainstream designer "rose" perfumes, many of which pack a mighty punch of peony and some of which feature no rose whatsoever. So my evaluation is relative: for people who ordinarily wear mainstream designer pink fragrances, ROSE ABSOLUE would be a definite step up the perfume ladder, since it is no more sweet than most of those, and there is a central core of a good perfume swimming amidst the sticky Yves Rocher base.

Whether a perfumista likes this creation is going to turn entirely on his/her compatibility with the base. If you have tried one or more of the other members of the Secrets d'Essence series and were not bothered by the base, then you are apt to like this one too. If not, not. These are among the best perfumes made by Yves Rocher, but the base connects the members of this particular series in a very noticeable way.

The original rose jam
I remember when Yves Rocher released Rose Absolue edp (there was even an extract parfum version). It made me feel so luxurious to wear it and so excited to discover it. Back then it was the best rose I have ever smelled, and to this day remains my favorite rose.

The rose in Rose Absolue is jammy and delicious. Like a rose scented turkish delight. Combination of rose, cinnamon and tonka makes it a great example of a rose gourmand.

Dark patchouli drydown adds some grounding for the sweet rose and it feels so natural. Unbelievably it is discontinued, but I have two bottles that I treasure dearly.

CONFESSIONS OF A ROSE-O-HOLIC (“The first time it hurt”)
This scent was my first (rose) experience.

And it really did hurt. Because this rose gave me a stab to the heart: With its dark, melancholic rose scent. Not a romantic, fresh, cute rose scent, but a dark, wistful amour-fou rose scent. Of course-thanks to the perfect patchouli: Not sharp, not musty, but deep and dark like a veeeeery long night.

But this first (rose) experience didn’t just hurt: It was, in a very special way, the most erotic (rose) experience I’ve ever had-until today. Although I have since become a rose nymphomaniac and the list of my rose affairs grows longer almost every day: None was as thrilling as this one. And none as special as this one. A sensual, cherry-like rose splendor, but not in the sense of a fruity floral. No. The unadulterated floral heart of this rose is a (heart) cherry!

The cinnamon boosts this dark, melancholic patchouli-cherry rose scent. It ignites its fire, but doesn’t take away the melancholy and the darkness.

You never forget your first time. That’s why it should be something special and not happen with just anyone. But with the best of the best. With someone you love.

I loved it. And thanks to Irielle666, I fell in love again. I want it back. (And you should have it too: I’m not jealous.)

My Treasure!!!
Oh, I can hardly believe my luck! I got it!! Once again, it was dear Jil to whom I owe the fact that I can finally call this long-sought fragrance my own. A while ago, I already owned it. I love this scent infinitely. It is so feminine and delicate. The few components are simply pure. The pure enjoyment.. I usually don't like many rose fragrances, but with this one, I fall to my knees. Tonka bean and patchouli are normally not my thing at all, but here they are so harmoniously balanced that I can't get enough of it. The cinnamon doesn't push itself particularly to the forefront, but I can clearly perceive it.
You can hear my enthusiasm, especially because the scent develops wonderfully on my skin. It accompanies me all day long. Sprayed at 6 AM, it is still present at 10 PM. That's top-notch. No single fragrance in my collection achieves that. The bottle is beautiful, the sillage is subtle but good. Not overwhelming, but fine. Here, Alinamaria wrote that she received the most compliments for Rose Absolue, and I can only confirm that; it’s the same for me. So far, I have received by far the most compliments for this fragrance. For me, it is very special.
By the way, I am quite proud to now own all the perfumes from Secrets d'Essences. Rose Absolue was the last one I was missing. I think they are all great!

Like a Good Wine
When I first tried Rose Absolue, I was actually looking for a fresh-rosy scent and was accordingly disappointed. The cinnamon initially bothered me a lot, and so the fragrance ended up in a drawer and was only taken out very rarely. Every now and then I wore it, and over the years I learned to appreciate Rose Absolue very much.

Fortunately, the cinnamon note fades quite quickly, leaving behind a wonderfully spicy-warm rose scent that pleasantly accompanies me all day long. For an Yves Rocher fragrance, it has very good longevity.

Although it was something completely different from what I was looking for, it harmonizes wonderfully with my skin chemistry. After 7 years, the color has changed to a pale pink, but the scent is becoming more and more likable to me and seems to be aging like a good old wine.

Yves Rocher is a treasure like no other. Cinnamon rose with a delicate sweetness, lacking freshness. Why do they always take the most beautiful ones away from us?

Rich, full, luscious, velvety rose. Baccara roses in their purest form. A hint of cinnamon enhances the impression of the fully bloomed heavy roses.

Aromatic rose confection - the delicate powder layer prevents it from sticking to your fingers. I’d love to lick my wrist - so fine!

A little rose stood at the Christmas market,
secretly getting tipsy on fine rum.
Alone, she then goes home,
and cuddles with patchouli.

Beautiful rose, elegant, powdery, ultra-feminine, neither soapy nor metallic.
Like luxurious makeup for 30 +.
A dream like no other.

The warmest rose I've ever had - spicy, cinnamon-like, not shy at all. Very well done, different from the typical soft pure rose.

The blood-red rose, dipped in sweet decadence, lavishly releasing its scent in many colors and nuances. That was you, Rose Absolue.

The rose scent is definitely in the foreground,
I wear it on different occasions, but
mostly in spring. Lasts 6h on my skin.

Round-warm-balanced: cinnamon-wood + slightly metallic rose, a bit gourmand. Subtle sillage, excellent longevity.
