Very similar to In Essence “Thai Temple”
This smells a lot like an essential oil blend I have, Thai Temple by Australian EO company In Essence. The particular bottle I have is from 2017 or 2018 and I think it’s been reformulated now, so I don’t know if the current version smells the same. In any case, it’s a scent profile I really enjoy - dominated by patchouli and sandalwood with some floral and citrus notes, meditative and magical.
I like the balance of Moon Milk better. It feels smoother and the drydown is more pleasant - but it’s similar enough to the EO that I'm not sure I can justify buying a full bottle of this even though I’d like to. If I didn't already have something so similar, I would put it on my wishlist.
In the top notes, Moon Milk has a fresh and bitter scent from grapefruit and black tea. The black tea becomes more noticeable towards the heart, as does sandalwood and a faint floral note which I can’t identify (I don’t know what honeysuckle smells like, I just assume it’s that). In the drydown, the scent becomes sweet in a resinous and earthy way from vanillic benzoin and a hefty dose of patchouli.
It’s fresh and sparkling but dark and mystical at the same time, like silvery moonlight on a summer night. Evocative and very well crafted.
