End of September in Sicily...
... in Bronte at the foot of Mount Etna, where pistachios are grown, the annual "Sagra" is held to celebrate the pistachio. As you stroll through the alleyways past the stalls, you can buy cheese with pistachios, salami with pistachios, raw and cooked ham with pistachios, bread with pistachios and of course the famous cream for the bread. We take a little bit of everything and make ourselves comfortable at a fountain. I pick up two more glasses of Nero d'Avola, this delicious red wine. The wooden board on which the delicacies are laid also exudes a wonderful aroma, as does the nutmeg in some of the delicacies. We have fun late into the night and enjoy everything.
