First Element Of Everyday Life
A wide variety of rocks and minerals fill our planet, providing the soil with vegetation and life support. We find rich deposits of metallic minerals throughout the earth’s crust. It is easy to think of the earth as solid earth through and through, but multiple layers make it up. While many of these layers are solid, the layer surrounding the core is called the liquid outer core. It is so hot inside the earth that the rock in this layer has melted. The solid inner core is as hot as the liquid layer, but the pressure on the inner core is so great that scientists believe it is “compressed” into a solid. With this collection, ZARA dedicated the theme to the four elements of everyday life.
Let’s start the journey with the first element: earth. Earth My Feelings is an amazing designer scent of apple accord mixed with marvelous mint and a gorgeous vanilla and tonka finish. The scent features apple, amber, and vanilla keynotes, resulting in a fresh and charming fragrance. It opens sour and sweet, damned sweet, and it is thundering, mentholated, and slightly salty. The flavor is sharp, possibly because of the crisp green apple. Citrus peels balance the fruity sweetness, lemon, I would bet. More, the spiciness of the mint leaves is detectable. In the opening, I find a spiciness in the way it projects. Not a peppery or overwhelming spice, mind you. The mint leaf note probably gives it that sense of spiciness, as it is a dominant note early on.
The middle stage is all about coumarin and amber. A touch of green geranium completes the heart accord, while a handful of ambroxan, a synthetic version of ambergris, works to keep the middle stage salty and oceanic. Ambroxan and an ever-light floral note, which I assume is geranium, emerge to complement the other notes already revealed so far.
The base reveals a mellifluous accord, with touches of powdery vanilla and salty amber. In this riot of sugary accords, the driest notes of cedar wood and the slightly musky notes of oak moss make their way. And I wouldn’t rule out the presence of vetiver root, which gives it an earthy look from which the fragrance takes its name. It dries after a few hours, leaving a trail of vanilla. Depending on your chemistry, this dominant element will last a long time. Sweet coumarins, dry woods, and earthy aromas are the foundation of the fragrance.
I could say that Earth My Feelings looks like a marriage between the smell of blue cologne ambroxan by Bleu de Chanel Eau de Toilette and the sweet semi-oriental synthetic tones of 1 Million Eau de Toilette. This fragrance will be great if you like sweet and fresh scents like these two. Thanks to its initial projection and sillage, it would be perfect for a club or date. When used sparingly, this versatile scent can go from a workday to a night out. It is best suited to the temperate seasons, as the heat can bring out an unwanted sweetness in the perfume, so wearing it on hot, steaming days is not ideal. It is best for spring and fall, but after it dries, the accords of woods and moss allow it to be worn during the colder months.
The opening notes are spicy, sharp, and sweet; the long-term scent is sweet and warm. Some people may find this cologne too sweet for their tastes, although they agree that it can sometimes be too much. The fragrance reminds me a lot of Eros Eau de Toilette, but also of the Eros Flame variant.
I base the review on a 100ml bottle I have owned since July 2022.
