Barbershoprock
After "Arome 3" yesterday, the "Tradition" version is now in play. Both are lavender scents. But that's where the similarities almost end...

“Arome 3 Tradition” is significantly greener and harsher than its gentle, slightly cool sister scent. “Tradition” is much more about shaving, beard, and chest hair than the “Normal” one. Super mossy, super beautiful on its own. Also with considerably more punch. A barber bull. Almost a bit biting and rough, especially at the beginning. But I like that. It has character, has resinous notes, has something of Caron’s milestone with a macho attitude, yet with a warm heart. Fougere with a spear. It makes an impression. Especially when it tones down a bit towards the end and unfolds comfortably and fully, blooming anew on warm skin and staying there.

Bottle: same procedure as nearly every d'Orsay
Sillage: exemplary brünfstig
Longevity: 6-7 hours wet shave

Conclusion: a dry-masculine lavender old-timer that straddles the line between pleasant and rough. Shaving cure in wide fields. Better than most of today’s lavender mishaps. No tradition, but the reward of the world.

Once again, please wave sharp knives in my face!
Do you also belong to those people (now referring to the gentlemen,… um, wait… do I even have male readers here?? I really shouldn’t be testing SO many women’s fragrances, hmmm :DD), who occasionally like to go to the hairdresser (or barber?) to get their beard trimmed or cut?
I can well imagine that some people’s blood runs cold when they see the classic, foldable straight razors, he he. Or maybe not, but it’s one thing to be shaved with one and another to shave oneself with it. If you’re unlucky, both can end up a bit bloody, especially if you try it yourself, mu ha ha ha. Oh, and I’m NOT speaking from experience, just to be clear :D

Anyway, Arome 3 Tradition reminds me of shaving in terms of scent, especially at the barber. So it’s one of those “barber shop” fragrances, as they are sometimes called. Otherwise, it’s a fresh scent that unfortunately turned out to be just average. So not really bad (and some might actually quite like it), it’s just not a “must-have” for me.

The scent:
The scent starts off quite classically with citrus notes and lavender and also reminds a bit of shaving foam or aftershave. Then some slightly spicy notes come in, and the scent also becomes woodier. And that’s how the scent lingers for a while.
In the base, the scent continues to smell classic with lavender notes but now becomes slightly sweeter due to the amber, which gets even sweeter and warmer in the following hours.
I also perceive a resinous, or slight incense cloud, but I’m not so sure… if it’s really incense. In the end, the scent remains a little sweet and herbal (due to the lavender) with slightly green-fruity-powdery notes (possibly from blackcurrants), as well as some light spicy notes in the background.

The sillage and longevity:
The projection of the scent is above average to good and radiates well, but a little later, after about two hours, it’s not as strong anymore. From the reviews, I believe that earlier versions of the scent were significantly stronger than what I had under my nose. I found the longevity okay, especially for a fresh scent. It lasted about five to six hours.

The bottle:
The bottle is rectangular, with the upper part having slanted sides that taper upwards. The cap is chrome-plated and consists of a small, ring-shaped section where the brand name is engraved, along with the upper, trapezoidal part.
There doesn’t seem to be a label, so you can see the name of the fragrance directly on the bottle. It looks quite nice!

So, as I mentioned at the beginning, the scent somehow reminded me of a shave. Either at the men’s hairdresser or also when you’re waving sharp blades around your face and such (and no, I’m not thinking of comics like the Joker from Batman this time,… although… in one of the stories, the Joker even cuts off his own face,… um, yeah… :D).

Due to the barber shop-like scent, the fragrance also smells very classic to me. Therefore, it’s more of a men’s perfume for me than unisex as indicated here, because it smells very masculine and is thus less suitable for women (and younger guys). A bit too weak for going out, but quite okay as a daytime or casual scent.

All in all, the scent isn’t bad, but it’s also not particularly special, so it’s (for me at least) not a big deal that the fragrance has now been discontinued.

Sooo….
… and the weather forecast: It remains boiling hot, and I’m still writing comments here,… I must be going crazy… from the heat… :D

Chypre and lavender (sic).
Fine & powdery hesperides.
Jasmine-vetiver accord in the style of Kouros.
Wood, smoky resins, a bit of moss.
Beautiful!

Much more subtle than the newer Arome 3 and therefore more distinguished: a fougère note slowly comes in, layered with citrus.

Classically muted powdery freshness with a hint of vintage charm. Reminds me of "Racquets Formula" with a spicier green fougère facet. Charming.

Fresh lavender scent with a fougere accord becomes warmer with a noticeable coumarin sweetness.
Little in common with the calmer Arome 3. Too sweet for me.

Wonderful mossy smoky powder in a lavender field. A unique chypre that also paints soapy floral patterns - uniting yesterday & today! Classy!

Powdery, lightly woody, more green than floral, unsweet, feels rather masculine. Probably contains lavender.

Not as lavender-heavy as Arome 3... lovely... a bit green and a bit woody... and then this beautiful powdery base comes in... that certain something

Special, spicy-smoky Chypre variation. It has something. I don't know any scent quite like it.
