Your skin but better
I went through a whole sample and couldn’t stop thinking about it. This is the sexiest skin scent I have ever experienced, bar none. This is spending all day in bed with someone you love. This enhances everything about my skin instead of covering it up.

The first accord listed is "powdery" - but I get something creamier and softer, not at all nose-prickling or dusty. The amber and pepper makes my body heat radiate.

The iris isn’t lipsticky at all; instead, it recalls the softness of skin, makes *me* seems softer, somehow.

The jasmine doesn’t smell the least bit animalic or funky. In fact, it barely even smells floral; instead, the sweetness of it heightens the sweetness of my own skin, makes it smell clean and natural.

The cashmeran is doing a lot of work here, I suspect. I bet it’s part of why this stuff lasts for 12+ hours, and I think it must be a major component of the soft, musky, tumbling-around-in-bedsheets vibe (something Ropion does really well, incidentally).

I would generally say I’m not a fan of patchouli but I can’t say I detect it specifically; I guess it just contributes some gentle spice or freshness to the whole composition.

The whole thing really is so much more than the some of its parts and it is so good, so well blended and sensual and sweet, I can’t believe it’s not a million times more popular than it is. I also like that it has a pretty close bubble - this is for me, and one person lucky enough to get close to me. It’s office appropriate and would be interpreted as clean-girl in that setting, but becomes incredibly sensual close-up.

Longevity is insane - sprayed it on around 5pm, smelled it clearly the next morning. Gets sweeter and warmer as it dries down.

d'Orsay's take on L'eau Papier
This fragrance smells exactly like L'eau Papier from Diptyque to me, but without the rice and sesame. The opening is dominated by pink pepper and ambrette seed, which gradually fades to an indiscernable blend of patchoulli, iris, and cashmeran. It has a subtle addictive quality to it almost reminiscent of a favorite sweater/blanket, you really want to bury yourself in it.

A wispy pink cloud at sunset
Sensual and addictive as all hell, but also feels light and innocent. The opening is dry and sparkly, a peppery and musky iris. Then a sweetness starts to brew, the fruitiness of the pink pepper or maybe a little jasmine. It’s really soft and airy, it reminds me of a wispy white cloud, tinted pink by the sunset. I find I smell something slightly different every time I bring my wrist to my nose, and whatever I smell always has its own addictive quality. At times I’m reminded of sunscreen, like a natural, unscented and almost pharmaceutical type of lotion scent. At times there’s a bit of a dry nuttiness. At times the iris is vegetal. It gets more powdery as it dries down and sweetens up in a warm way. I’m not sure if I can pick out patchouli specifically, but maybe it’s just rounding things out, perhaps adding a fruity, earthy sweetness.

It seems like this perfume is wearing a lot of different hats, something new at every sniff, but the overarching theme is always the same. I feel how I imagine a dog feels when you leave out a heap of freshly dried laundry for them to lounge on, when it’s still really warm from the dryer. Everything feels so soft, calm and comforting. On the other hand, I bet smelling this on someone’s neck in the heat of the moment might really get me going. I know a lot of perfumes exist with similar notes but I think this one takes the cake for me.

Clean girl aesthetic
Opens with an aggressive and somewhat confusing burst of musk and pepper, which mostly just comes across as bitter and discordant. Thankfully that fades away fairly quickly and a beautiful jasmine floral comes out and is dominant for a few hours. It's very soft and pretty. The jasmine eventually fades into the background and is replaced by woody iris which gives a clean laundry feel. I didn't get any patchouli. On my skin, the sillage was pretty close to the skin but it's still present 10 hours in.

On my husband, the jasmine didn't come out as much and it faded much more quickly and was barely detectable after 6hrs.

Sprayed on from brand sample out of Scent Club Mystery Kit #1. Worn about 10hrs at time of writing.

I understand the hype
I’m not trying to be quirky or profound, but this perfume to me, is more of a textural experience than a scent. Like yes, it has the dreamy intoxicating aspects of ambrette along with powdery iris, but what sticks out to me is the aggressive coziness of the scent. Aggressive because I can pick up the patchouli and sparkly pink pepper that give it this cold feeling, but it is toned down by the softness of cashmere. Clearly I’m just saying a bunch of things, but there is definitely a buttery, unique softness to this perfume. It is also soft performing. There’s not much projection, but longevity is great.

Fruity musk opening, with a soft patch and a delicate pinch of pepper. Subtle flowers. It smells good, but is not memorable.

Sur tes lèvres is who I want to be in ten years time. E.Q doesn't smell like specific notes, it smells like the perfect person.

Sur tes levres has a sensual and voluptuous feel to it, and is exactly what I imagine the sweater of an elegant woman to smell like.

The is a clean, peppery composition with just a hint of sweet powder. Simple but elegant.

Soft fresh-floral. I smell something anise-like, could that be the pink pepper? Feels decidedly modern to me. Seems to lack some complexity.

im trying to love this. i really am. but the orris/ambroxan combo is aggressively creamy -- too sharp and conspicuous to wear around others.

Very beautiful, powdery, and clean cuddly scent. The bed freshly made and spring air coming through the window. Unfortunately, very close to the skin.

3x broke their wings in two.
Sparkling wing dust

delicate ambrette fields,

It takes a few minutes to settle on the skin, but then it's simply angelic. I almost tear up.
