J.R. J'ai l'air de ce que je suis. d'Orsay 2019

When I was a kiddo we used to pick narcissus from the field next door at dusk when the cows were back home.
We could smell the flowers from upfield, the very scent of something goldened by the sun the hours before.
A scent I would love to retrieve in perfumery.

Anyway, here I cannot find back my beloved narcisses. Nor the mandarin or bergamote listed by D'Orsay website. There are definitely flowers, water flowers, or a whole bouquet growing on the water, or the flower garden after a long hour of rain. It is quite light, aery, delicate, diluted. It definitely does not stay long on my skin, and sillage is quite intimate for no-one ever noticed I sprayed myself yesterday. And I did quite spray a lot for my sample spayer is defective and I had to press it like a night-club dancing star before I could get anything, ooops too many thing... er... is it? Can't really smell it anymore?

Now that I think of it it really reminds me of floral water. The one you use as skin tonic or the one you learn to make in Do your own cosmetics workshop.
It is nice, but not 190 euros nice.

This perfume truly keeps to itself, which is a shame because the notes are balanced quite lovely. Or perhaps that's exactly the magic in this fragrance...

Opens with a very bright, sweet, slightly tart clementine & bitter bergamot combo that quickly lays down into a warm and creamy base. I'd say the overall flower notes aren't very powdery and the scent is quite musky, but narcissus does bring a very rich dark floral tone with it. In the middle stage a bit of greenness resembling freshly cut leaves lingers a bit, but the total makes for a watery floral, skinlike fragrance. It kinds of reminds me of a hairdressers conditioner, as the scent does fade considerably over the span of a few hours.

Not groundbreaking; a gentle, fleeting, quiet spring floral.
