Smooth
Very elegant amber. Lavender really elevates in the opening. Interesting effect here: from afar, this appears a classic, albeit linear vanilla-heavy amber. But upon closer inspection, there's a distinct almost ebony wood accord a bit splintery thanks to smoky styrax. Someone below mentioned "gun powder" and damned if I don't get that, too. I get the sense that Sauvage is more a warm-weather amber due to its general "lightness" attributable to those aromatic accords. Perfectly unisex, as I think all ambers are.

Also, pretty unlike Ambre Fetiche, which is much more dense, boozy, and leathery to my nose. That one is the dark, this the light.

Amber Bomb
A magnificent scent of amber loaded with vanilla and gunpowder. Light the wick of Ambre Sauvage and detonate a firework full of spices and medicinal herbs. This fragrance moves with beautiful grace like a big jungle cat and purrs for a long time on the skin. Like it very much.

Soul food that certainly polarizes.
There I stood in front of a Goutal shelf. On the top level were the three bottles from the "Les Absolus" line. I had neither seen nor heard of them before. I found the bottle design and decor very appealing. Silently, I contemplated the ensemble. The consultant (we have known each other for some time) said softly: "The one on the right."

pfffft.......................... then a deep breath.

Top note?... more like a bang, a hammer strike that calls for order.
Heart note?... of enormous intensity and warmth. (Pure presence)
Base note?... a vibrating oscillation.

It starts off extremely concentrated (warm wood, spicy-smoky resins, and pepper full of liveliness). Everything is already present at the beginning, only the "volumes" change over time. First, the warm wood note becomes quieter. The spicy-resinous, almost incense-like tones come to the forefront. This phase lasted for me 4-5 hours. The pepper note is perfectly integrated. After 5-6 hours, these impressions also quiet down, and it becomes vanillic-warm. It is a dark, ripe vanilla; I wouldn't describe it as just sweet. Now begins the longest and for me the most harmonious section. The play of aromas slowly but vibrantly fades out. It is this vibration of peppery traces and the harmonizing ripe vanilla towards the end. Dreamlike!

The longevity: The fading is still noticeable after 27 hours and two showers in traces.

However, I must also report the following:
I cannot remember any fragrance ever eliciting such different reactions in my immediate surroundings. (No one has said anything about Epic Man yet). The reactions from the female side ranged from "Wow, how unusual, but great" to "Yes,....... that's it!"
The reactions from the male side were more like: "Dude,.... you can't be serious, right?" Or "Isn't that a bit sweet?"

It is written about this "Les Absolus" line that they are perceived very individually depending on skin type.
Admittedly, after taking a deep breath, I found myself in the intensity of the top note roughly in the range of Nasomatto and Amouage. Surely a question of dosage.

Whether "Ambre Sauvage" could be something for me will be decided by further tests. But I am looking forward to it.

What I felt during the first test inside I cannot put into words.

As for the price,... yes God - some buy stainless steel rims, some go on vacation three times a year.
Others have expensive watches. And we crazies...... what do we do?....... exactly!!!

Have a nice evening, everyone.

My Amber No. 22
.
Les Absolus d'Annick Goutal - Ambre Sauvage

.
With the memory of a new year.

.
On the sunlit slope, there is a buzzing and a hidden crackling beneath the brown, dry grasses in the dense, sporadic, moist-animal earth. In the weave of the newly beginning time.

Gone is the winter; the new year already brings some scent fragments, and bright, strong wood, dried, lies on the warm heath. The bees buzz around their baskets, which are surrounded by a delicate scent of incense and a fragrance like dark pink pepper. Amber-colored straw flutters wildly in the rising wind. And spring stands in full splendor.

Clouds of scent from flower beds drift over roses and irises, over moist green grass, hidden violets, and lush green moss. Colorful butterflies flit and flutter in the air from flower to flower, from bush to bush, and up to the heights of the trees. Lavender lies across the wide expanse, indulging in patchouli and a pinch of incense, shimmering nobly, delicately fresh, and warm in the most beautiful summer. Balsam for the soul.

In the clear landscape of autumn, we gather the scent drops of styrax, treat ourselves to robust vanilla and another pinch of incense and rich, hypnotic amber. The October smoke of the empty, harvested fields already makes us dream of the cozy fireplace fires of the coming winter.

The elements, dusted with patchouli, have merged into an incredibly rounded and dominating whole. Wonderfully balanced, woody, warm, with a delicate, caressing smoke and fragrant resin.

A fragrance for the contemplative time behind snow-covered windows. And for cuddly hours. Always. Sauvage.

With the memory of a new year.

Thoughtful with Charisma
~~~Unimportant Backstory~~~
During a conversation with a saleswoman, we eventually started talking about amber. I asked how amber actually smells (or if there is a fragrance where amber is the main player). I was then introduced to this scent. And that was a good thing. Because for months, or since I got to know "Arabesque" by The Merchant of Venice, fragrances had a hard time with me. I didn't like most of them, even though they are objectively very beautiful scents. This might also be due to my selective nature.
But Ambre Sauvage first confused me. Finally, something that somehow challenged me. I didn't really know anything comparable. Hence the confusion in a positive sense. I had already given up hope that anything would come my way that smelled better or as good as Arabesque.
Ambre Sauvage taught me two things:
1. I now know how amber (more or less) smells.
2. Ambre opened my eyes. I should no longer buy fragrances that smell good. Because I find many fragrances good.
I should focus on scents that evoke emotions, amazement, or simply feelings of happiness in me. I should connect something with fragrances.
I was selective. And now I have become even more selective. Thank you Hombre >_>!
So, now I will take out my fragrance description tools. You may feel secondhand embarrassment, as it won't be easy for me to capture this scent in words.
~~~Amateurish Fragrance Description~~~

After spraying, you should first prepare for a bang. Because for weak or sensitive noses, the first five minutes could be quite a burden. An extraordinarily peculiar and alcoholic opening will spread. But be patient. What comes next is basically the reward for your brief patience.

After the warming phase, or after the smoke clouds from this explosion have cleared, you will smell a beautiful amber at the point of impact. The hole is deep. As deep as the scent of amber itself. Something so deep is rarely smelled. Because this bang was caused by a comet made of amber that is not of this world.

This profound, sweet in an epic way, and somewhat oriental amber receives reinforcement, as you can see from the above notes.

The first hours are noticeably spicier than the last hours, and that's probably thanks to the pink pepper (Yes, I’m smart). The spicy note is not piercing or harsh. It gives the amber more character. Iris provides a pleasant, not too overpowering powderiness (don't worry, this does not come across as feminine at all). Fortunately, I do not perceive earthy patchouli. That would have ruined the scent for me anyway. Some statements mentioned incense. Perhaps it is more Styrax that gives off the "incense vibe." But yes, the scent is somewhat smoky, but not ecclesiastical or medieval, rather discreet with style. I couldn't really perceive lavender either, which leads me to assume that patchouli and lavender are acting in the background.
After halftime, vanilla sneaks into the foreground, giving the scent a sensual warmth and a slight gourmand touch.
All of this ensures that the resinous-sweet-oriental amber does not remain too dry. It becomes soft, warm, and sensual while not losing its uniqueness and high-class, noble maturity.

Overall, the scent is somewhat linear but quite multifaceted. Clearly for adults. I would say it leans more towards a masculine scent, but I can also easily imagine it on women.
A scent for special occasions, going out, or leisure time. Not a typical "I smell great, let’s make love right away" scent. More for intellectuals who can amaze people with their special charm/charisma and this scent. Here, one radiates maturity, knowledge, thoughtfulness, and depth. But also that one understands love well and is ready for passion when the time comes. One does not engage with everything and everyone. One is selective. And perhaps enjoys the inaccessibility.

Longevity: 8-10 hours with a few sprays on the wrist. I once sprayed a bit more on my neck and throat area, and it lasted a solid 12 hours there.
Sillage: Not too subtle and not too loud. Rather moderate/average, but remains constant for a long time.
Intensity: medium-strong.

If this scent hadn't taught me so much, I would buy it now. But no. I am still too young for this masterpiece. In ten years, you might be a candidate for purchase for me. I will never forget you. You belong to the best.

Not today, not tomorrow but I might own you someday.

Addendum: Sprayed on yesterday at 3:30 PM and after 24 hours I could still perceive the vanilla on my skin. Fantastic! :)

Resinous-amber-spicy unsweetened scent that feels less harsh than Ambre Fétiche, but still comes off similarly uninviting to me.

Doesn't compare to Ambra Fetiche, in my opinion. This one is tamer, earthier, and sweeter with a noticeable vanilla note. Winter couch scent.

Dark resinous amber wrapped in patchouli and rather unsweet vanilla. Hippie incense sticks meet haute perfumery. Exciting.

A strangely subdued amber, like Fétiche with a brake. Elegant. So it’s wearable everywhere. Noble. Yet it lacks that special allure.

Breathed in deeply during the test. Bang, order, silence, quiet in the here and now. Words can't capture this. Scent? Soul food! ***

Lightly brushing the senses, amber smoke envelops in an earthy and warming way, protective and flattering: just like Annick Goutal's earlier beauties.

Ambre Tame (tame Amber) would probably be the better name. It's well-balanced - with subtle patchouli and sweet-powdery notes. Distinctive!

Initially captivating and demanding.
Then a sensual, soft, warm, balsamic scent with extreme longevity!
