First Impression of Greyfruit...!
Hello everyone,

In the past weeks, months, and years, I have tried a lot of citrusy, fruity, refreshing fragrances, ranging in price from around €50 to very expensive ones in the nearly €300 range. However, the problem is that those fragrances have 95% or more very little to no longevity... and if we take the expensive Afternoon Swim as an example, it is no different. It is authentic, very pleasant, and so on, but what good are such things if the longevity is very, very modest...

In this regard, I certainly do not expect 12 hours, not even 9 hours, but I believe one should aim for around 6 to 7 hours, especially when spending good money...

Honestly, I am a big fan of grapefruit and blood orange; they are very summery and slightly bitter fragrance notes that are always very well received in summer. You can also go wrong with such fragrances....

For example, if you make the grapefruit too sweet, it can quickly become too sweet with slight sweating, leading to headaches (which happens to me often). Here, the citrus notes are more on the BITTER side, which I find very good.

Now let’s briefly touch on synthetic and natural oils:

I don’t want to start a fundamental discussion again! Synthetic ingredients have many, many advantages, better (easier) balancing/adjustment with certain notes, often cheaper, and they are often more potent, etc. My "problem" with it is that one must find a healthy balance, and then everything is cool! Unfortunately, this is not even remotely the case with many fragrances... the Greyfruit smells very authentic despite the citrus notes...

Regarding longevity/sillage:

Satisfactory!

Applied at 1 PM and by 9 PM it was still subtly noticeable.
The sillage is, in my opinion, noticeable for 2 to 3 hours within a limited 1-meter range
and later it becomes a skin scent.

Does that bother me?

Not at all!

Why?

From April to the end of September, I see it as usable daily and it has a friendly + refreshing side. When I decide to wear something like this, I wish for that, and if I get it, especially in the office, on a plane, or generally around people, one should avoid heavy scents at certain times....

Price:

As far as I know, we are in the €2 (+) range, and that is totally fine.

How is it received?

I can't give long-term reports yet, but my wife really likes it, and 3 of my employees also liked it right away. Since I like it too...

Recommendation?

Definitely!

If you like a fresh - fruity - summery - slightly bitter fragrance direction (like I do in the current season), then I recommend at least a TEST!

And now have a nice day/evening or whenever you read this review, best regards, Benny

Citrus-Bitter-Freshy with a Refreshing Mineral Water Twist
Greyfruit is for me exactly what the scent aims to be: a refreshing summer chill with plenty of citrus, a hint of invigorating spice, and effervescence, on a solid amber-musk base.

This summer fragrance starts off wonderfully bitter-citrusy with mandarin peel and neroli, along with bergamot and grapefruit, which throughout the development, together with what is referred to here as a mineral water accord, always retains a nice bitterness.

Quickly, ginger and blood orange join the citrus mix. Even though I personally am not the biggest fan of ginger and blood orange in fragrances, these two are so well dosed and intertwined with the rest that there is nothing to complain about regarding my personal taste. Just imagine that the blood orange has rolled further down in the fresh fruit basket, doing everything it does best without standing out disturbingly. The same goes for the ginger, which also adds a moderate woodiness to the whole.

Regarding the intriguing mineral water accord:
Greyfruit is not really an aquatic scent. It doesn’t want to be. However, after just a few minutes, a (for me) hard-to-describe effervescent coolness emerges, which feels very refreshing. This association of mineral water with bitter citrus fruits captures it quite well in my opinion, and therefore the mineral water accord is indeed a fitting term that one can envision. This accord is also the special twist of the fragrance for me: a watery-cool freshness that makes the unsweetened citrus components bubble up. This also ensures that the citrus fruits do not become dull over time. You can tell, it’s hard to describe: so it’s best to smell it yourself! A sniff often conveys more than a thousand words.

One should definitely be a citrus fan and not shy away from a certain bitterness; then nothing can really go wrong with Greyfruit.

The scent lasts surprisingly long on my skin for a fresh summer EdP. I didn’t expect that. The projection is pleasant, so it doesn’t overwhelm on 30°+ summer days. It is always present, wafting joyfully into the nose and evokes (at least for me) a lovely feeling of lasting refreshment and satisfaction. This is surely also thanks to the stable amber-musk base with coumarin and the well-integrated oak moss, which I can particularly sniff out towards the end. This makes Greyfruit a bit soapy-clean in the drydown towards the end. Clary sage also contributes to the pleasantly cooling properties of the fragrance for a long time.

Greyfruit is pleasing but not boring and offers for me personally a very nice twist between a broad citrus mix with bitter notes that I love in fragrances and a bubbly-refreshing chill with good performance and a classic finish on a stable base. Fresh, delicious, zesty, bitter-herb & sparkling-cool. Everything done right!

Greyfruit has a very cheerful character and brings me more positive thoughts in a rather gloomy time that I am personally experiencing, independent of the global developments.

I can hardly think of an occasion when one couldn’t wear this scent in summer. During the day and in the evening, but also at work and in leisure in general. It is so versatile and works very well for many occasions and events if you enjoy bright, cheerful, slightly watery, and therefore not overly sweet, uncomplicated summer freshies with a special twist.

I also find it sympathetic and practical for us fragrance lovers that this indie brand made in Germany offers the scent in a 30ml bottle at a correspondingly fair price. I always appreciate when houses offer 15-30 milliliter sizes, which can also be a financial aspect for us - who often want to own many fragrances - when making a purchase.

Greyfruit comes in a simple but neat bottle with a good spray unit. The outer packaging visually reflects my scent impression with its color choice and design, exuding an authentic and charming flair of craftsmanship together with the interior of the packaging.

Cheers!

Ungrau - 50 shades of summer
...maybe not 50, but at least a few yellow-orange ones...

Hey, this doesn’t really fit Martin... it’s not gray at all. In fact, it’s the complete opposite.

Greyfruit is, if it were a color, clearly light orange. It’s a really great summer fragrance that immediately transports you mentally to vacation. I see myself in an unbuttoned linen shirt and swim shorts somewhere in Italy in the greenery. Not by the sea, but rather on a lovely terrace with a pool and a lounge chair.

There are undeniable strong similarities to Afternoon Swimmer, which is a good thing, because the expensive fleeting brother is also excellent in terms of scent. All the good genes are reflected here, I even find it a bit more natural, but what is most important to me is that it is significantly more long-lasting! That was also one of the main reasons why I didn’t go for the A.S. (except for a 10ml decant).
Here, you can expect a very decent sillage and, for a fragrance in this category, really good longevity.

The ingredients seem to be of high quality; I don’t find anything disturbing.
The opening is also a smile-on-your-lips driver, this wonderful bitter-fresh fruity good mood wave is just fun. There is indeed a real risk that the vacation budget might suffer, but that’s okay, because if the weather should lack during the vacation, I can counteract with this.

Bravo Martin, unexpected fragrance, I’d love to see more of such "Ungrau" creations.... Maybe something with violet ;-)

A perfect scent for summer?
Greyfruit is a beautiful fragrance for summer.
This wonderful grapefruit, a bit of mandarin with zest, bergamot, ginger, and even clary sage bring you that wonderful summer vibe right to your nose.

The scent has a very slightly bitter-herbaceous quality paired with a super subtle sweetness and even "almost" creamy notes.
This amber-musk base comes through well and becomes deeper/intensified over time.

Greyfruit also comes across as super natural and not at all overdone. Everything is perfectly balanced and finely crafted.

Here and there, I have heard comparisons to Afternoon Swim by Louis Vuitton.
Perhaps there are certain echoes, but the fragrances do differ significantly.
Personally, I find the orange comes through a bit better or rather more zesty in AS.
Greyfruit is softer, gentler, and sweeter in comparison.
Additionally, we have this noticeable musk-amber base here.

All in all, it's a fantastic fragrance that I can absolutely recommend.

Slice of Grapefruit in Mineral Water
A glass of cold mineral water sits on the table. A slice of grapefruit floats in it. Summer. The sun is blazing on the terrace.

The water is a refreshment after mowing the lawn. The grapefruit adds a tart bitterness. This makes it even more refreshing.

Lovely.

This is how one should imagine the scent.

But there is something more happening. When the initial citrus notes have faded, a light sweet note emerges. There used to be a fantasy flavor that tasted like this. The last time I had it was around the turn of the millennium.

The whole thing then drifts into a grapefruit-typical aquatic. Fresh and sweetly bitter-herb all the time.

The performance is quite respectable for such a citrusy little fragrance.

I really like this. A fresh scent with a little twist. The sweetly bitter-herb associations described above make this unisex fragrance really interesting.

I like it and, as a fan of fresh scents, find it very intriguing.
