Spring blossom

The Detaille perfumes can be described as fairly traditional. Dolcia is no exception in that sense. However, with its light character it is not quite as dull and old-fashioned as some other perfumes in the lineup. In fact, this is quite a nose-pleasing spring blossom.

In the basis this is a classical floral-woody, but there are a couple of things to make it interesting. The opening is surprisingly fruity with an apple-pear freshness. The florals that follow seem to oscillate between a spicy carnation and osmanthus, but the whole stays light and blossomy overall.

Dolcia is a joyful character and should work great in springtime, perhaps even in the hotter days. Fruity blossoms for grown-ups.

Light blue big sis

I orderd a sample of this to get to know this perfume house a bit.
Detaille is a classic perfume house in my opinion in the style of Louis 15.
When I apply Dolcia I get a blast of lemmon and apple, the scent is a bit sour in that stage. The drydown gets more woody with some cinnamon and amber.
It definatly remind me of D&G Light blue but wher LB stays fresh Dolcia gets a warmer smell coz cinammon is added.
This is not my type of scent its for me a bit to old fashioned

Summer Freshness with Little Apples

Why Dolcia, actually? Dolce is Italian and means sweet. Dolcia is by no means sweet - it starts off sour-fruity, fresh with a light apple scent. The apple has nothing of the artificial candle apple, but it is a green apple complemented by the tart quince, and then slowly transitions into the floral heart, blooming very little and unsweetened. The resinous, woody base overshadows the shy little flowers quite early on. Cinnamon, amber, and osmanthus unfortunately do not honor me. I would have loved to know how osmanthus smells. What remains is a rather dry, cool stack of wood. A suspicion is slowly forming within me: woody and resinous notes in fragrances are either amplified by my skin, my nose, or my brain and do not tolerate any gods beside them (this effect was extremely pronounced in Zen Concentrated by Shiseido, but also in Seductive by Boadicea the Victorious).

Dolcia is not a scent for standing out, let alone for causing a stir, but it is refreshing and a pleasant change from other summer fragrances made from hesperidic notes, and it is equally wearable by both men and women. While Dolcia doesn’t make it onto my wish list, I will gladly use up my sample if the weather hopefully warms up again.
