Expectations were high
Yesterday I received my eagerly awaited sample of the latest release from Maison Mataha, "Pêche Velours | Maison Mataha," and I could hardly wait to put my nose to it.
So I sprayed it on my skin full of anticipation, and at first, I was baffled... astonished... and disappointed...
A very synthetic peach note wafted towards me... and it was already clear that it unfortunately wouldn't settle in... for the first 15 to 20 minutes, this synthetic quality is very present... the longer the fragrance stays on my skin and develops, a familiar scent DNA comes to my nose...
Where do I know this scent from? What does it remind me of, concentrate... you know the scent... you have something similar in your fragrance cabinet...
Where I initially thought of a cheap body spray, a sense of familiarity spreads... and after a few minutes... bam!
The realization hits me... it is the familiar DNA of Hundred Silent Ways Extrait de Parfum that comes to mind...
Of course!!!
When you look at the notes, peach, tuberose, jasmine, vanilla, and sandalwood are listed in both fragrances... just less sweet.
Of course, there are small but fine differences, but personally, Pêche Velours reminds me too much of "Hundred Silent Ways (Extrait de Parfum) | Nishane," which I love very much and also have in my collection, and which does not exude this synthetic quality for my nose...
In my opinion, Pêche Velours is not a bad fragrance, by no means; those who like this synthetic quality and do not have or do not like Hundred Silent Ways Extrait de Parfum might even like this one very much.
My conclusion is... good that I tested it beforehand and did not immediately order a full bottle blindly...
Test it before you order blindly, is therefore my well-meaning advice to everyone... if you like it, you can always buy a full bottle later!
