Movie Night
Oh lordy me, it's like wearing a warm hug of deliciousness! Brownie Pop, to my nose is far better that Jousset's Sticky Popcorn, for something of the same price range.

You know that moment when you walk into a bakery, and you smell those freshly baked brownies and popcorns? Yeah, Brownie Pop smells just like that, it's insane! It instantly transported me to my favourite cosy café, and I couldn't stop sniffing my wrist.

But hold on, there's more! There's a surprise twist in this fragrance.
As it develops, you start getting hints of caramelised popcorn, which makes it feel like you're at the movies, munching on some yummy snacks. It's so much fun!

And don't worry; it's not too sweet or overpowering (after a few minutes). The geniuses at Maison Mataha blended in some sandalwood and vanilla to balance everything out. The result is a sophisticated, creamy scent that's totally addictive.

I get about 6+ hours of wear out of Brownie Pop, with people around me noticing and complimenting the delicious aroma. If you're into gourmand fragrances, you've got to give this one a try. Trust me, if you're into popcorn or foodie notes, your nose will thank you! Don't think about what others say, you buy the perfume, for you, from your own pocket and hard-earned money, not for others to say something about it.

But be warned, one spray is enough to turn heads; it's a nuclear projection.

100% Gourmand
If you want to smell like dessert, look no further. Brownie Pop is 100% gourmand. No flowers, no citrus and nothing green. I detect no popcorn and a subtle chocolate note only in the drydown. Vanilla sugar cookies with a light hazelnut glaze. I understand the similarities to Sol de Janeiro 71, but Brownie Pop is not nearly as sweet and more refined. The concentration states "Extrait de Parfum", so this is a full bodied scent. Listed as unisex, but leaning feminine because there is nothing in the composition to tame those sweeter notes.

Hot Chocolate
Hm... this perfume is giving more "hot chocolate" to me rather than "brownie". It starts off with a strong hazelnut smell. As it dries down, it becomes more chocolatey, but it's more powdery rather than a deep, rich chocolate smell. It reminds me of the powder that you use to make instant hot chocolate. I also get the butteriness from the popcorn note and some caramel notes coming through that smell very similar to Cheirosa '71, just chocolatier.

The sillage and longevity of this scent are not the greatest IMO. It quickly becomes a skin scent on me and disappears completely within a few hours unfortunately.

Overall, this perfume isn't terrible and I don't hate it, but it's not what I was expecting. I wanted a deeper chocolate smell but what I got was powdery chocolate and buttery caramel.

Another autumn/winter love
Brownie Pop is a gorgeous, comforting, warm hug on a cold day scent. Its sweet, but I definitely think a man could pull this one off too. I was a bit worried this was going to be a heavy brownie scent, but it isn’t. I can smell all the notes, but they are beautifully blended. I get the chocolate hazelnut brownie in the opening, then the cream and toffee/caramel popcorn. I was looking for a popcorn scent that wasn’t too OTT and this is it for me! It does remind me of Sol de Janeiro 62 & 71. This was just an instant love at first sniff! I do find it quite rich, so feel it’s best suited to autumn and winter.

Dusty chocolate treats marred by a cheap popcorn note
When I heard Maison Mataha was releasing two new fragrances, guys, I was HYPED. Couldn't immediately get my hands on them when they released, but as the reviews from other people started pouring out, my excitement started getting crushed. It wasn't a love for everyone like the first Maison Mataha fragrance had been and I started becoming wary of it. The bar was really high (too high?) and now, based on the reviews, I had to tone down my excitement.

If Escapade Gourmande was the definition of "the scent, the myth, the legend" (to me), Brownie Pop is the definition of "what could have been, but never was". To say I'm disappointed is an understatement. To be honest, I'm kind of sad I don't like it. Wished it had been a 10/10 like Escapade Gourmande. I get a dusted (powdery) kind of chocolate with a hint of cake and biscuit. It starts out relatively nice, but nothing mind-blowing. I prefer the chocolate found in Dipped in Chocolate.

Unfortunately, things start going downhill from there. The popcorn note starts appearing and I find it "cheapens" the fragrance. I'm not someone who enjoys savory and sweet treats so I guess it also translates to what I like smelling. I've only encountered popcorn once, which was in L'Eau de Parfum and I have the same feeling about it. Popcorn has that same cheap, waxy, synthetic and artificial scent. It reminded me of Winners Homesense cheap candles. It absolutely wrecks the powdery chocolate biscuit and cake I could smell briefly before. Drydown becomes creamy vanilla with a musky undertone (although musk isn't mentioned?). Smelled like Vanilla Musk Perfume Oil.

Overall very disappointing and might be why I haven't seen as much hype for it on social media. I was expecting so much out of Maison Mataha and maybe my expectations were to high. Oh well, I guess on to the next.

Powdered brownie mix. Disappointing + not memorable. Let's be serious cause £169 is diabolical. Chocolate Greedy is the better option. Pass

Heavy buttery popcorn then blends into a slightly synthetic vague sweet nutty scent. Nothing stands out note wise after that popcorn opening

Very nice cocoa+cookie scent but the ending weirdly hits with mint and I don't know how to feel

Dusty chocolate cookies with a cheap/artificial popcorn note that brings down the fragrance. Drydown is more musky vanilla than sandalwood.

Top: more chocolate liqueur than chocolate. Mid: nutty chocolate coconut cake, hint of popcorn. Base: unsweetened cocoa powder + sandalwood.

Salty cocoa, beautiful opening. Unfortunately the salt and popcorn disappears and it settles to a flat biscuit note quite fast.

In the opening, it's overwhelmingly nutty and intense. In the drydown, it's like delicious chocolate cake, but something is missing for perfection.

Caramel popcorn for snacking... uh, I mean, for smelling, accompanied by a gentle vanilla aroma.
