A slice of Milan in a feast that lasts

Panettone comes from Milano Fragranze, a niche fragrance house dedicated to capturing the essence of Milan through olfactory storytelling. This particular creation was developed by the same perfumer who created Gris Charnel for BDK...

The star of the show here is bitter orange, which confidently persists throughout all stages of the fragrance. It’s accompanied by a subtle ginger and a standout buckwheat note, giving the composition a textured, cozy edge. Vanilla makes an appearance too - not cloying or overly sweet, but more like by adding depth without stealing the spotlight.

The resulting combination is a remarkably realistic portrayal of a freshly baked high-end panettone from a pasticceria. And as an Italian who's lived in Milan and indulged in plenty of authentic panettone, I can confirm: they’ve nailed it.

I first tried Panettone a few months ago when I received a sample. Even with just one spray on my hand, the scent lingered for nearly the entire day. That performance (and the scent) convinced me it was worth a full bottle. Yesterday, I finally got it, and let me tell you, it didn’t disappoint.

This morning, I sprayed it at 7:30 AM, and 12 hours later, it was still projecting at arm's length. For a gourmand fragrance, good projection is not uncommon, but Panettone will keep radiating for hours.

Milano Fragranze doesn’t just excel in scent but in presentation too. The blu Savoia (a colour associated with Milan) bottle is elegant, with a magnetic cap and a pressurized sprayer that delivers an even mist. For a niche fragrance, the pricing is reasonable, making this a good value for its quality.

Panettone is a perfectly unisex gourmand that manages to be both unique and versatile. If you’re a fan of edible fragrances or just want something that doesn’t smell like everything else out there, this one deserves your attention.

10/10 – Perfetto!

wheaty goodness
A beautifully grainy and wheaty loaf of festive sweet bread. This opens with the combination of candied orange rinds and a freshly zingy ginger. I’m regularly a ginger hater but this one feels aromatic and fresh vs herbal and medicinal. As the scent develops you get a prominent immortelle note that has that unmistakable honeyed hay like sweetness, paired with a hint of booziness from the rum. Dry down really brings out that breadiness full swing with a sweet graininess to it, even a malty touch considering the booze. It’s warm, sweet, bready to the T, and still feels fresh and light bc of the immortelle and ginger. Just a gorgeous gourmand that doesn’t feel redundant in a world of too many citrus gourmands.

Cozy, buttery goodness
Most of the criticism I see of this one is that it’s not realistic enough. I’m not big on literal panettone, so I don’t care about that, but I can tell you what do experience with this one. It opens with rich, super buttery bread. Then a spiced orange syrup comes in. It’s gorgeous and cozy. It’s especially ideal for fall and winter, but I’ve been enjoying it on a rainy day as well. A little goes a long way. This scent is potent and long-lasting.

Italian Christmas Cake
Very olfacto-realistic scent of the Italian dried fruit, rum soaked Christmas cake, panettone. In fact, I have a freshly opened panettone sitting in front of me as I write, waiting for friends to come by for an early holiday dinner, and it's almost indistinguishable from Milano Fragranze's creation. Beautiful sweet crumbs and those rum notes! Perfect gourmand for the holidays, I recommend it with all my heart.

Unwrapping a Panettone
The perfume delivers on the name. A hyperrealistic mouth-watering gourmand that recreates its festive namesake. Opens with booze and spiced candied fruits (mostly orange) then reveals a heart of warm buttery vanilla bread/baked goods. Quite sweet. Some of the herbaceous and floral aspects can be fleetingly discerned, but overall the illusion holds together. Above-average longevity.

Nostalgic Christmas smell. Very spicy-sweet. Reminds me of a gingerbread man.

Buttery and cakey without becoming overwhelmingly sweet.

Spicy sweet dessert, reminds me of Christmas, so maybe a bit unique to wear outside of the holidays? It's good, not overly gourmand though

Would have been a realistic panettone but the baker added too much vanilla extract and forgot about the spices and citrus zests

Like a more gourmand Angels' Share, dries cake/bread/pastry w/ hints of orange. Well-blended; dies down in 5-6h but €122 for 100ml is good.

Fresh & gourmand but also neither. Could wear any season but I wouldn't want to. Never eaten Panettone but smell reminds me of carrot cake.

True fall/winter scent. Brown bread, boozy ginger, orange, carrot seeds, raisins. Not overly sweet. Great sillage, and lasts 3-4 hours.

I don't think I ever tasted the food panettone but it does smell like some sort of sweet orange-y cake with a strange raisin note.
