Alien Extraintense Mugler 2025

Alien Extraintense is distinctly Alien. The creamy jasmine is very similar to the original. I was expecting the vanilla in this flanker, but the greenness took me by surprise, in a good way! There’s a subtle, slightly tangy spice (I’m guessing what’s interpreted as Cardamom in the notes) that keeps this from being cloying. This might be one of my favorite Alien flankers so far.

Right away, it takes up all the space in the nose... and that's not unpleasant. The very fruity, slightly too sweet attack of its predecessor Alien Hypersense is replaced by a vegetal but not indolic jasmine and a fresh tuberose. I love the very green flowers and the tingly feeling. The tuberose feels very white and has a fresh juicy coconut facet that I love. Then, the cashmeran in this is so pretty and addictive. It is clean and well grounded, so calming. Extraintense stands out from the current OG Alien, as I find no soapy accord. The medicinal « extraterrestrial » facet is present, however: this is authentic Alien DNA.
I have not enough memories of pre-reformulation Alien but in my opinion, Extraintense is the prettiest version of Alien released since Alien Essence Absolue (my opinion may actually be biased by the succession of pretty bad flankers for the past 10 years...).

Bubblegummy Alien with a subtle background of vanilla creaminess. I actually prefer this to the current OG; although the jasmine is still a heavy presence it’s not as screechy. It’s also much more wearable on warmer days. Paired with Sol de Janiero 59 it’s an absolute dream. Given my experience of this one, I feel “extraintense” is a potentially misleading name.

Ok. So I am going to say this is a ME problem and not a quality problem. I am a massive Mugler fan. And I love Alien and just about all the flankers. When this came out I was leery because tuberose has a tendency to give me a bit of a headache. When I went to smell it in the store, on paper it was magical, beautiful and I loved it! I ended up deciding to give it a chance and got a sample to try on late… also, I’d heard the tuberose fades FAST. When I sprayed it on my skin- I thought I was going to throw up. The tuberose was so strong. I waited an hour trying to give it a chance and tuberose was still the only thing I could smell. At that point, my head was pounding and I was heartbroken. I had to get in the shower and scrub it off.

Ahhh. This is unfortunate.

I dislike Alien Goddess, and there's something about the coconut along with the vanillic florals in it that is unique to AG, I can pick it out in a crowd. This also has that specific DNA within. I'm surprised there's no coconut listed within this, because I find it creamy from some angles, verging on sunscreen-y. But loud. I'm not sure, maybe it's the "cashmeran" that bugs me.

I don't think this even realistically smells like tuberose (which is fine, Mugler isn't known for realism, but rather synthetic, bold hyperdoses of certain notes), it smells more like a lactonic, very vanillic, very artifical neroli. Weird, I know. That's the best I can describe it though.

To me, it feels disjointed and synthetic in an unpleasant way rather than a creatively stunning way (I love all of the original pillar fragrances).

It's rare for me (this might be a first) for me to dislike a Ropion creation, but I just don't enjoy this and in similar fashion to Alien Goddess...it almost gives me a headache. I find myself physically recoiling from it.
